Now THAT is gospel music!! Love that ole timey sound, and you also gave this song more heart than I've heard in awhile. Almost like hearing the song for the first time but I've actually heard it a bazillion times at church and everywhere else. But not like this! I was looking outside the window up at the mountain, thinking that the chariot might be on the way. lol Has a roll-y sound underneath it that I often associate with horses running...
I like your style of music. I have been trying to decide what your pickin style is. I do see banjo in it but I hear country, hillbilly and blue grass, all of which I like very much. Thanks for sharing this with me.
WOW O WOW Rod....ABSOLUTELY loved it, big style, and speaking of style, yours is wonderful, so relaxed and natural, and that guitar is awesome!!! Thank you very much...Maxi ((Hugs))
Thank you Maxi ! You say the nices things. This is a song I believe I learned my my grandparents first. My grandpa Brock was the Alabama state fiddle at one time. I would give anything to have one of his recordings. --:)Rod --:)Rod
On your vidoes I watch and your playing style changes from time to time. 5 ***** I don't see guitar players using this style and I like it . How did you learn it. Judy
Thanks Judy, I am told my style on picking is kind of like banjo picking. When you get a chance watch a few banjo pickers and you'll see something close to it. In banjo picling I heard it's called the "" Clawhammer "" although I'm no expert on the subject. I picked this style up being around my family growing up. Thanks again, --:)Rod
Thanks a lot . I'm glad you like it. It's played in Open G tuning and on an old guitar I rebuilt to an 8 string. I have several like this one and I have little E and B doubled for extra sound. Thanks again, Rod
Thanks a lot! Open G tuning. Of course I realize with your talent you can see and hear it's open G. This old song just kept coming to me so I figured I'd better record it. lol Great to hear fom you. --:)Rod
Appreciate That Rod But I Had no Idea..I aint much on open tunings or any other tuning beside standard.. it took me 40 years to play that way..I aint start again lernin no Fancy Tunings!!LOL!!!But Thanks Again!!
Thanks a lot Dixie. This song just kept coming to me over and over so I decided to record it. I have also loved this song too . Thanks again, --:)Rod
Hey bro ' Thanks a lot. I do a lot of that style picking in Open G tuning. This old guitar I put together myself. It is my third line guitar but I think it had pretty good sound. Thanks again, --:)Rod
Thank you Carol, I love this old song too ! The first time I ever heard this I was following my grandpa and grandma in the cotton fields of Arkansas. --:)Rod
Thank you very much. I was taught this song by my Grandmother and Grandfather in the cotton fields of Arkansas. Plus about 50 other people "" pickin "" cotton.
