@HUGHS5001 Global warming & cooling _is_ cyclical - mainstream scientists accept this. What they're saying is that in _this_ particular part of the great cycle, temps are going up fast and CO2/etc from humans is one of the main causes. Note that concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is ~0.03% so CO2 from humans does make a difference. If there's a high risk that something's going to hurt us real bad we should take action - like we do fighting cancer, even though cancers are often "natural".

@HUGHS5001 Global warming & cooling _is_ cyclical - mainstream scientists accept this. What they're saying is that in _this_ particular part of the great cycle, temps are going up fast and CO2/etc from humans is one of the main causes. Note that concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is ~0.03% so CO2 from humans does make a difference. If there's a high risk that something's going to hurt us real bad we should take action - like we do fighting cancer, even though cancers are often "natural".

Even if global climate change weren't real, there's still the problem that fossil fuels are a very precious, barely renewable (if at all) resource that takes millions of years to be produced and we seem to be using it up faster than it's returning.

I don't know shit about Global warming - even for scientists this is a COMPLEX task with lots of proxy data and interpretation, I know a lot of big companies are funding FUD against the theory.
I DO know that their "solution" of creating a cap and trade carbon exchange is scam.

To be fair, the scientific community isn't necessarily all that trustworthy either. There are several arguably plausible motives people have said scientists would have for lying. Trying to get more government grants. Trying to get more political momentum. Even guesses more along the lines of good intentions, like "lying to scare people into being eco-friendly," would still at the end of the day be ultimately dishonest. @substanti8
