I'd just seen the Insight special on child poverty in NZ when I saw this and there were some very similar messages in that piece. The ideal society would have cross party agreement on what our really important goals are and would map a long term path towards them.
I am a current member, classroom teacher and researcher, and I don't think the PPTA is pushing a particular party line here. I think they are asking for an informed and consistent approach in determining educational policy from ALL parties, one that provides a more stable national environment for the students and their teachers - I can't find fault in that.
As a current teacher and PPTA member I would like the PPTA to go back to school and study history. Especially the bit about Tomorrow's Schools. Try the 80's under Lange. How about we have a politically active PPTA that is party neutral instead of trying to change history?
As an ex-YANT and current teacher in South Auckland I support this add and everything it stands for. As teachers we need to stand-up and let these points be heard! New Zealand is an amazing place, so we need an amazing education system, currently we have a system thats been created by those who dont work within the industry. A red or blue governement im no judge, but who ever it is needs to listen, or as a country well let down the coming generations.

I wish I had this sort of graphic for my classes too!! Maybe with an agreed education policy we'd have access to some.
