  • that's great how his top says "Fuck on Tommy!".

  • I have got the episode in full as althoughly until now and I have it on DVD, but i graded it 3/5 in that quality and thats why this edition was a strike one with no studio.

It was only just Tommy Vance in the backdrop and my copy was recorded from a Betramax tape.

  • Your copy is most likely 2 generations down from mine. I got it on VHS, copied from the original Beta (via another VHS if I remember rightly), from the owner of the original Beta tape, then copied it for a few people who have since transferred their VHS copies to DVD.

  • But my copy has the original ABBA trailer after the Roxy Music video and the closing credits to TOTP and but my one is not in good quality because the tape mumbles up during the Teardrop Explodes performance and some of the Linx song and but the rest of the edition is okay.

But by the way, this edition came from 12th March 1981.

  • Yes, I'm fairly sure your copy is a copy of a copy of mine :)

  • Is your edition, the full complete one, is it graded enough 5/5.

  • It's easy to work out this is a Thursday at 8pm:- 2nd continuity announcement.The date?did I read someone say 19th March 1981?.

The old world of British t.v. was coming to an end.Video Cassette Recorders & Channel 4 in 1982 changed t.v. viewing forever!.T.v. quality was replaced by quanitiy.

That's why these continuity bits are so valuable!.

  • Dear Tommy Vance

I always Remember you with lots of Love

    Ahmed Fakroun

  • But well, the Roxy Music video is at the end of the edition. but its the same on 19th March 1981, a week later. when it was althoughly repeated on UK Gold.

  • i can't believe that Tommy Vance is no more! Are you certain?

  • Check out my uploads of Tommy presenting the Top 40 of 1982 and 1983 on Radio 1.

  • RIP Tommy Vance xx

  • bastard bbc electricians

  • Intro'd and outro'd by Senior Announcer John Trevor. John Braban is voicing the trail after TOTP.

  • Good to see that someone recognises his voice - I wouldn't have been sure, though I would have presumed it was an announcer who'd been there some time by then. John Trevor joined BBC TV in 1960 as one of its first out-of-vision announcers, and was senior announcer from 1966 until he left in 1982.

  • Does it say "Fuck On Johnny" on his top in TOTP? lol

  • You're not the first to think that ;) It says 'Rock On Tommy'

  • 12th March 1981.

  • great clip, shame the full episode isn't on!

  • great clip, any more continuity ads or gameshow clips?
