  • The Tambourine player needs to pick up his weight. Look at the Keyboard player, he's playing 12 keyboards, you think maybe the tambourine guy might be able to play one.

  • @BusterBallz68 He actually is a great flautist but in the eighties The Moody Blues were making fewer and fewer songs that included flute parts. He also wrote a lot of beautiful lyrics. So watching this video, you might have gotten the wrong impression. (take a look at their older songs, it's worth it!)

  • I thought just that when I listened to it for the first time!

  • Thought this was ELO

  • sweeet album.

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Still selling out stadium's all over the world!

  • I really like how John holds his bass. He has a great posture and looks so professional. :) Rick Savage of Def Leppard holds his this way also. Its very cool looking. And this song is one of the Moodies best in my opinion its so possitive and motivating. :)

  • YES!! Great song, I love the Moody Blues too :-))

  • Is this 30 years ago now? My goodness, its been a long time since hearing these guys in the Summer of 1981. I still have my vinyl copy of LDV.

  • Thanks to my best friend Rudy, I started listening to the Moody Blues, they are the best.

  • One of the most innovative bands out there! Always were and always will be.

  • good one but a old one

  • @MyLeslie31 whaaaat

  • 30 years later and I still LOVE this song! I would turn up the radio when it would come on summer 81. I was only 9 at the time.. Brings back memories.

    Dawn

  • @MoodyGirl67 My respects to you ladymoody, and thanks for the info.

  • why are there 6 dislikes

  • The Moodies hit #12 in Billboard, 8-1-81. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • "You Want Xerox to Consider something called a mouse?

  • I love this entire album and especially Justin Hayward's work on War of the Worlds. I've got to ask though, how many keyboards does that guy need??

  • They sound a lot like Electric Light Orchestra sounded in 1981. And I'm a Gemini, like Annie from Renaissance! Though most people consider me to be a Gemini nightmare!

  • You 're right! They do sound like ELO in 1981!!

  • @fedlivie Thanks! It was my birthday, yesterday, June 18th!

  • I hope it was a happy one!!

  • @fedlivie Cheers! I'm more of a Gemini nightmare! LOL!

  • I remember this song like was yesterday, I was playing futbol or soccer when I hear This song, good time

  • Grew up with the Moody Blues, and growing old with them as well.

  • this is one of my favorite moodi tracks, plus im a gemini HA, great tune though.

  • THIS BAND IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!

  • It's too bad the Moodies do not perform this song in concert anymore. I wonder why? I am guessing the high notes became very difficult for them to sing ( especially on"make it work out, make it work, make it work out, make it work out"). It is truly one of their best songs................

  • Great one! The second best ELO song of 1981 behind "Hold On Tight"! Seriously, the 2 bands always treaded on similar musical ground, but sounded almost interchangeable in 1981 (though "Long Distance Voyager" is a better album than ELO's "Time" that year).

  • my love for these guys grows everyday.

  • Neither me or my gf is a Gemini. I am Cancer and she is Scorpio. We dont believe in that stuff though

  • Great song, this song definitely has a strong ELO feel to it and this is a very catchy song

  • I'm a triple Gemini and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song.

The Moody Blues wrote the story of my life. My soul mate is also a Gemini and he and I were so close in college and then were separated by things in our lives. Then just recently we found each other again. Now we're living our Gemini Dream and it is so wonderful!!!!

The Moody Blues wrote the story of my life.

  • @WhiteDogTherapy What a sweet story!... Nice :o)

  • Moody Blues are Soooooooo Greaaattttt!!!! "Make it work out, make it work , this song is so filled with such great lyrics. Just Google the lyrics and see how cool the words are to this song. Awesome. Thankyou Justin Heyward.

  • They are all Birmingham boys, aren't they?

  • @DAVWAVE no, Justin is from Swindon.

  • if the r n r hall of fame was anything anyway, it would of been located at redrocks in colorado... all the best bands played there..(moodies included) and few that should of...well, you get it :) ty4p!!

  • @AudioFixation I agree, that is a great place.

  • Great song. You can really hear the tambourine, Ray! Criminal that Bon Jovi were nominated the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Moodies, with all their great songs and albums, have never been nominated.

  • This is truly a classic band...very nuderrated

  • Excellent! The classics are the best.

  • ELO copy cats!

  • @paultheactor1 wtf? i like ELO but the moodies copying anybody is like van gogh being accused of copying someone else. uh...no.

  • @paultheactor1 This statement is absolute foolishness, as they were around before ELO ever achieved anything.

  • @mongoose636 And they never achieved ELO's greatness!

  • @paultheactor1 On what planet is this? Here on Earth the Moody Blues have done as good according to sales.

  • @paultheactor1 Sorry Moody Blues were around long before ELO were born. No band is a copy of the other...Moody Blues were formed in 1964 under another name, formed officially in 1966 and ELO started in the 70's both are great bands...No need to hate! Moody Blues are no copy cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @paultheactor1 What a silly comment!

  • and now these idiots in New York want to show it all to Steve Jobs

  • From 1:01 to 1:11 sounds like Electric Light Orchestra

  • @tintin1932

I agree! The Moodies are much better though.

  • @tintin1932 Thank You!

  • @tintin1932 Yes, it does. ELO copied the Moody Blues as you can hear.

  • Came back for a happy fix....SMILING!!!!!!!

  • Morantz can sure play the hell of those keys. Justin is an incredible guitarist.

  • Do you know how to read, I said I can't believe they are not in the Hall. I even went as far as e-mailing the Hall to find out why the Moodes and Neil Sedada are in in the Hall Of Shame. Get it.

  • They sound like ELO on this song Big Time!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Patrick on the keyboards!!!!!!!Awesome stuff

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you!Great!Beautiful!

  • Thanr you!Great!Beautiful!

  • Fuckin incredible tune, makes the hair stand up!

  • Long time no see.short time for you and me. We're on the run, like we knew we would.

  • great song

  • Summer 1981. Heard this on the radio a lot. Always have liked it. Brings back good memories. I was 9 and just finished third grade!

    Dawn

  • Is dude with the tambourine s'posed to be there or did he sneak in?

  • @sentforth5 he's their floutist, theres no flute in the song so he makes due

  • @Kevtheguitarist

Thank you! I learn something new every day!

  • The choice of dads when it comes to a disco-rock hybrid.

  • This was there disco song.

  • Long time no see

Short time for you and me

    So fine

    So good

We're here the time is right

  • It's cool to see this song on video for once.

  • I listened to this for 3 minutes before I could come and watch it,,,I would have shawn it was ELO

  • 0:50 and 0:57 and 1:22 etc.......niiiiice!

  • @Poopaloo55 Hehe, you are a John girl! :) He's got to be one of my favorite bass players. This 'Gemini Dream' is one of my favorite songs by the Moodies. But i am a Justin girl. hehe

  • @wouldntyoulike2know Ah yes, you caught me....after Allan Clarke of course.....!!

  • @Poopaloo55 Hehe, of course. ;)

  • I love this song !!

  • FAVE SONG besides another song...

  • Wow...look at Graeme GO!!!

  • hit #12 pop, #13 rock in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • Loooove this!!!!!

  • This is my song right here! I love this!

  • It took 1month to remember the title . I loved this song when it was released.

  • I had the Vinyl album and later the CD and never let them go from my life. they are Unique. Music that don't give a crap about being commercial. Music with a meaning and a good one. They sing about life like it is in itself. This is not music for mental dwarfs.Music made Just for the ones who defeated ignorance and stupidity.

  • The Moody Blues put out some good, well put together albums in the late 1960s & throughout the 1970s, including Days Of Future Past, which I've listened to a few times. Yet, for some reason, the 1981 released Long Distance Voyager has ever since been my favorite Moody Blues album. It wasn't put out on CD untll 1986, & I never had the vinyl. Having retired my turntable, I saw the CD, bought it, & listened to all it's songs the 1st time, & have been captivated by it ever since.

  • I've loved the Moody Blues since they caught my attention in 1967. Long Distance Voyager was a very big come back for this awesome, unique band. They stand alone as the Thinking Man's Rockers and will never be equalled or superceded. 100 years after I am dead they will still play the Moody Blues on radio (if it still exists).

  • Thanks for posting. Great software work. I bought the vinyl album in 83 when I had just acquired my 1000 watt stereo. What a sound on that machine!!! The songs on this album are amazing.

  • This great song reached #12 in 1981. (U.S., Billboard) -- By far, their best!

  • Jusy sang it at Karaoke last night I still know it after 20 years

  • Super song. This was the song that got me into The Moody Blues.

  • MORAZ MORAZ MORAZ....

he's the "Alan Wilder" of Moody Blues

    alan wilder = depeche mode

    Patrick Moraz = Moody blues

  • Wow, I never knew Moraz played with the Moody Blues! I knew he played on a favorite Yes album of mine - Relayer - but that's all.

  • Relayer's an underappreciated album.

  • Really liked Patrick Moraz...even though Graeme calles him the 'swiss git'! Too bad he had to sue the band! He was good! Had alot of energy!!!

  • Great song, great album, great Summer memories when this came out. Moraz's keyboards really brought the band to a whole new level of success and fans.

  • Moraz kicks azz!

  • i fuckin love justin haywards gibson! id have one if they werent upwards of $5000

  • I f**king love Justin Hayward. Think we could abduct him and split? You can have the guitar.

  • nah, hes too busy being awesome to be abducted haha

  • the Moodies do disco.

  • That's what happens when you run out of LSD.

But still, love this song, and love these guys.

  • Amen. SUPER awesome. King of Awesome. And just ONE cool dude. LOL

  • short time for you and me.

  • falso

  • No, it was written by Justin Hayward and John Lodge and released in 1981 as part of The Moody Blues' "Long Distance Voyager" album. Electric LIght Orchestra has never covered it before.

  • No, i'm a Moody Blues fan, i know ALL about the group, and ELO never sung this song AT ALL !!

  • Oh yeah 80´ies in a nutshell "a wall of synth" .-)

  • Justin has such lovely hair! I wanna run my fingers through it!!

  • I love this song but the I swear the first time I heard it I thought it was ELO..

  • No Mr.smg60631. You're wrong, this song is from the great and only :the Moody Blues. The Electric Light Orchestra has never played this song, not yesterday, not today.that's for sure.

  • What is that thing in the sky at 0:11 assumed to be?

  • someone answered that before: that think in the sky as you said is some kind of spacecraft. (it's like the Gemini spacecraft) or like the Voyager.

  • Hello? Long Distant Voyager????

  • its a cloud........

  • getchasumm

Ray Thomas contributes tambourine, vocals, saxophone, baritone saxophone, harmonica, oboe and flute as well as songwriting to other songs. Maybe he does even more that I don't know about.

  • Great clip great sound. thanks a lot for that. now if you allow me to make the request you post " the Voice" original from that concert with that HQ sound would be great!

  • One of there greatest songs. Can you believe these guys are not in the Music Hall Of SHAME!

  • @skipper8257

Don't be a jerk Skipper8257! The Moody Blues should be in the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame. Don't hate these men because they are beautiful, talented and yeah Rich!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for uploading this. :)

Does anyone know if there was a music video released for The Voice? If so, I'd love to see it.

  • Cool! Brings back memories of the summer of '81.

  • Simply another solid, jammin rocker by the 'Lodge man." I had a couple of white jackets just like his. Ray is still bangin the tambourine like a mad man. I hope he gets over his illness.

  • Moraz couldn't fill Mike Pinder's shoes. Talented but Mike is the Mellotron Master.

  • I totally agree. But, I still love the Moody Blues!

  • this is just fantastic!!!! absolutley love it!! sounds great in surround sound this one!! thanks for the upload, cheers mate!

  • castingtherunes sounds like ELO ya they have only been around since 1962 LOL

  • They sound like ELO here.

  • sure. the 80's rocked. gotta luv it, dry ice and all! lol

  • this jammed !

  • moraz threw john and justin under the bus in court.love the song

    thanx

  • Excellent version. Thanks. Moodies fan for 42 years.

  • Thanks guys umm...I have not more to say...new to this You Tub thing....love Brad

  • An incredible group from day one. Then adding Moraz was just icing on the cake. Can you believe they are not in the Hall Of Shame.

  • Maybe too good for the Hall of Fame.

  • S-W-E-E-T

  • Why does the video focus twice on the strange mark in the sky?

  • That picture is the album cover that this song is on, "Long Distance Voyager" and that mark as you call it is some kind of space craft. (looks sort of like the Gemini space craft to me)

  • I'm pretty sure it's the Voyager 1 spacecraft.

  • The spaceraft on the album cover is NASA's Voyager spacecraft. Twin spacecraft Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, launched in 1977, were to study Jupiter & Saturn. Indeed they are "Long Distance Voyagers". The Moody Blues must have had prophetic powers since Voyager 1 & 2 are both still in operation 32 years later, at a distance of approx 10 billion miles (and counting), farther than any spacecraft has ever travelled.

  • This is my all time favorite from the Moody Blues..... Thank you so much for this!

  • IM A GEM....

  • this song is awesome..very good 2 thumbs up

  • I know Moody Blues arrived long before ELO but you can hear ELO's influence,,,great tune !

  • Both bands from Birmingham circa early 60's so moved in the same circles and no doubt knew each others work.

  • damn! how many keyboards that man has!!! excellent and nice tune!!!!

  • Patrick Moraz has 10 keyboards in this video plus the Moog Taurus Bass pedals on the floor.

  • Actually 9, a mellotron (bottom on the side Moraz faces most of the time) and the Moog Tarus bass pedals

  • whoa 3:17

  • I love this song!!

I was born in same year!

  • Can anyone explain how this group is not in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Or should I say Shame. No Neil Sedaka either. Unbelieveable.

  • @skipper8257 The RNRHOF only seems to want to induct punk and alternative acts. Earlier this year they inducted Genesis (they'd been eligible since 1995), so there is hope the Moodies will get in.

  • I have this album ...feeling old!

  • I have this on a Moodies sampler. Not feeling that old - 35 ;o)#

  • Never knew the title of this song until I finally found it right here. I used to hear it all the time back in my teenage years. Excellent song!!

  • aaah,yes...my high school years. Music was changing fast..I loved it!

    Great old tune!

    *****

    64m >:-)

  • One of the greatest bands ever. There music is what I call drivin music, no empty spaces in there songs. What a keyboardest.

  • Moraz on keyboards--ex Yes- OK until he started snorting cocaine. That's the main reason thwe Moodies got shut of him.

  • I come from Birmigham originally live in Perth now. I wish I had met them, I love Justin Haywood, still listen to their mustc, their awesome.I just love them. Saw Justin Hayward in War of the Worlds - he's gorgeous!! Wish I'd had met him in Brum .....

  • totally awsome song, my fav. from these guys

  • i thought video was out in the downtown night live with lights and a guy in a back of a limo i still might have it on vhs

  • absolutely . they sound heavenly live

  • i have seen them twice in concert and they sound sublime live!

  • Wow great guality. Sounds as good as my cd

  • Same here.
