  • 03:35 This is how i treat ppl on treadmill.

  • Where is Arwen in this movie? It just dawned on me that she has not appeared it in so far, but everyone else is in it I think, weird.

  • The makers of these didn't read the books I see.

  • Is that Aragorn who looks like a native american?

  • Well that was a nice film which frankly was worth watching.

Shame there is no part 12...

  • why does the orcs looks like wolfs.

  • At 3:30 the orc says "Filth! Maggots! Cunt!"

    :'D

  • is it just me or do the orcs seem to care what happens to the hobbits?

  • This film is awful. Instead of just animating the orcs, he hired a bunch of extras to wear laughably bad costumes and more extras to ride around on horses. This is the reason that he ran out of money making this and could never finish it. He forgot he was supposed to be making an animated movie, not a pseudo-animated live action film.

  • @Quasifonix Actualy it was the same as American Pop and Heavy metal they drew on top of the actors to get a more realistic flow.

  • @korzon Yeah, I know. It's called roto-scoping. It's what he did for the main characters. But for the orcs he just used a filter and didn't even bother to animate their faces. They're clearly wearing really bad masks. He could've just got actors without costumes and animated on top of them to make them look like orcs and it would've looked much better. He took short cuts with the orcs and it shows.

  • @Quasifonix actually, it was an artistic choice, and plus, they were running on a pretty low budget and they didnt made part two because the studio didnt want to finance.

  • Legolas looks so angry when he runs!

  • I do so love how the Uruk Hai rolls his "r"s at 3:37

  • Did the drawers know Gimli was a dwarf? Cuz, he's damn tall xd

  • This is comical...and that isn't a good thing

  • T_T

  • Aragon has amazing legs in this movie...just saying haha

  • Epic fail at 1:24! I love the slow motion fall!

  • @MusicalCresentMoon

You're saying that you happen to love crap?

  • Comment removed

  • Wait, what? 1:04 PANTY SHOT! Aragorn looked back at the camera like, "Fuck!"

  • 1:23 ...What...the fuck...was that? Not only was that scene completely insignificant, but the slow-motion Matrix effects on it had me laughing my ass off.

  • Legolas looks like he had a bad face lift

  • 1) Boromir looks like viking LOL 2)Aragorn looks like red indian LOL 3)Gimli is as tall as Aragorn and Legolas LOL 3)Orcs(Yruk hai)looks like African-Musliman warriors LOL 4)I cant understand why half of this movie is cartoon and anothar half is looks like...... i dont know waht?! i think that in this art work cartoon looks like much better than this red eyes orks in vikings armor......it only my opinion :)

  • @ManFrom3D It looks weird like that because it was filmed using a technique called "rotoscope" (not sure if I spelled that right). Thats when they shoot live actors doing all the action and then the animation cells are drawn over the shots frame by frame and then edited together. I am sure it looked awesome back in 1978. A better example of rotoscope is another Ralph Bakshi movie called Fire and Ice where the character design was done by Frank Frazetta.

  • 1:24 Okay, SERIOUSLY? Did the actor just trip or something? Worst slow mo running ever!

  • I didn't know they have a Bed and Breakfast place in Isengard. Not that I'd like to go or anything.

  • I dont like this animation. nope.

  • the orcs sounds as germans

  • ...what kinda animation is this shyt

  • The uruk-hai look like armed house wives... with teeth.

  • I dont know who directed this but wtf were they thinking when they designed the dwarves to be almost as tall as men and elves

  • lool look at legalos at 1.30

  • In this Sam is ugly, the rest of the hobbits look like cute little five year olds, Legolas looks like a blond chineese person, Boromir looks like a Viking and Aragorn looks like aaan... Indian? And Gimli looks like a Gardern Nome.

  • this whole movie i've only noticed one real piece of music

  • i can't tell if this is anime or real...

  • @kathen111 or catoon...

  • @danben140

yes there is brasz101 has the rest of the movie posted

  • @geilbear

that would be so grate but it would also have to be really long movie to get all the great detail from the book

  • Legolas looks like he has down syndrome

  • wheres part 12?

  • 1:28 hawt

  • Aragaon looks like an American indigenous! LOOOL

  • aragorn is indian, borimir a viking, orc cavemen, and legolas is just plain fruity!

  • LOL legolas his face at 1:30

  • I like how John Hurt did the voice of Aragorn. Shame he looks like a piece of Ass.

  • 6:56 A@@SHOT lol

  • Peter Jackson version = 200x better lol

  • When Aragorn and Legolas are running and its head shots for the two of them, I will never forget how Legolas looks like, his hair being swept back like that, the first time i saw that bit, i couldnt stop laughing. The first thing that came to my mind was:

"Hey Legolas! Nose Nugget! Left Pocket!"

  • thats so .....omg

  • I was trying to feel sad about the Boromir's death moment, but the viking helmet on the boat ruined it all and i burst out laughing.

  • @Flames649 "I'M ON A BOAAAT!"

  • @Flames649 Funny thing though is that Vikings never had any helmets with horns.

  • loom at them, they could be doing a "nike" commercial. they r all running in slow motion, panting.

  • so....the orcs/uruks are really.. Native Americans with dull spears and "terrifying" masks?

  • so like...wheres the end?

  • This changes it from Men in Tights to Men in Skirts. Honestly, that's one thing I will never cease to find amusming.

  • wtf @ 1:23

  • @dmeadows1985

    SNIPER!

  • Is it just me, or do it sound like the orcs sometines speak a few german words?

  • Aragorn looks more Native American than Mexican to me. I still think it's a good looking Aragorn though, I love everyone's voices too!

  • i'm looking for it too : /

  • I love my mum for recording this on VHS when i was about 5 so that i could watch it over and over and over again with my brother for years!! The jackson movies cant touch this for magic, emotion and intensity.

  • people can say what they want about the animation in this movie, I still think that the characters have a lot more definition and depth than those awful Jackson versions.

though I have to admit, those orcs look mighty silly.

  • y do the orcs look like sabertooth tigers?

  • @estupidotaco they look like Bongo Congo version of african people to me no wonder they say Tolkien was a racist all of Sauron forces were of dark complextion wheras the good guys were caucasian in appearance!

  • @skeaneable yeah.. but they sound like they speak german. perhaps they are black nazis?

  • @anime1973 Sounds more like russian to me. Perhaps they are communists?

  • @skeaneable Somehow Tolkien managed to squeeze Africans, Vikings, Communists, and KKK members into the same frame and called them Orcs.

  • @TheJazzyBReal don't forget the men of Harad they name almost Arabic to me.......racial S.O.B!

  • @skeaneable LOL, this movie is the shit. The sheer humor of it remedies a depressing week.

  • Dude, lol at 1:30!

  • where is part 12?

  • 1:20! hahah slow-mo run and fall! Legolas' face!!! wtf!

  • Where is part 12?

  • 1:46 is a Classic scene!!!!!

  • I think this is a better scene than how it was done in the live action movie....I never did like merry and pippin in the films....somehow this scene is more tolerable.

  • @Agundis1825 merry and pip are awesome in the movies hell yeah!

  • they look so gay!!!!!

  • shit the orcs look like a some king savage african tribe

  • @50pourcentQuebecois I suppose so...but this was back in the day when a story was just a story and the world wasn't a wishy washy mish-mash of politically correct bullshit with a lawyers buisness card and a fox news editorial behind every meaning.

  • @Agundis1825 what do lawyers have to do with this incredible story, and im not only talking about this cartoon version, im talking about any version of LOTR. the books, the games, the cinema movies, everything is fantastic.

  • @50pourcentQuebecois Well actually, Tolkien was a racist and orcs are meant to be black people. So in a way, they are "some kind of African Tribe." For a racist, he sure could write a story haha.

  • @pukeoncops123

thats disgusting. orcs dont deserve that connotation.

  • so the orcs are russian. Funny echos the political situation at the time of filming

  • where is part 12 D=

  • the Uruk-Hai looks SOOOO wierd in this moveh

  • Aragorn tripping over his own sheath...Some king he is...

  • In retrospect....I have to say I like Bakshi's version better, despite its numerous flaws. It feels truer to the books somehow, and darker.....

The more hopeless points seem much more hopeless, the orcs and black riders seem much more fittingly alien and other worldly, and Tolkien's songs and music seem more faithfully rendered.

  • @Eldeecue

Oh, pleeze. This is one of the most moronic adaptations of anything I've ever seen.

  • Ahhh...evil people music...always the best part of any film, even Anatasia and its evil Russian bugs... the Uruk-hia songs in this are no exception. Bakshi ROCKS!

  • I like the normal man sized dwarf.

  • @mahoneychris17

Well they aren't supposed to look that way, it was an obvious mistake of the movie. Among other things.

  • Pip looks like Ann Widdecombe

  • i wish i had seen this series before i saw the 20th century masterpiece, i can gaurantee the adrenaline orgasm would have been twice as large.

  • Aragorn looks so ugly in this movie...ohh Jesus!!

  • lol......

  • ok this is wrong... this movie ended with the war at helms deep (and i wished they continued to the end with return of the king but... thats what you get i geuss)

  • return of the knig is the nest movie i have it and the hobit on CED

  • it looks like they edited in real people for the orcs

    lol XD

  • On second thought...just the hair...

  • Hmm...I think this Legolas looks more authentic than Orlando Bloom...except the clothes. He's supposed to be clad in brown and green!

  • kinda wana finish this movie now that ive watched all of them up till now... but they dont have a part 12? wasted my day watching this to not end it.. damn

  • look in my playlists under "Bakshi's LotR"...it's complete

  • Sam is an idiot in the book too.

  • This is ridiculous. Who edited this?

    1:20

  • I think it's hilarious they added the part with Aragorn taking a spill XD

  • @SanityBreached

Lol so do I, but it is still ridiculous.

    xD

  • @SixStringSamuraiGuy

I agree :D It's not even like a real film where they missed a blooper. They actually had to draw the scene! The fact it's in slow mo makes it even better. Throughout the entire film he's all "kickin ass and takin names", then he trips himself with his own sword. It's just so random and unexpected XD Made me lol :)

  • @SanityBreached

    Exactly!

Oh, and I love the fact that right after the slow-mo trip, he is up and trucking again like nothing happened.

  • @SixStringSamuraiGuy Well it didn't look like a fatal fall. Whats he supposed to do give up? I know not to ever go hiking with you.

  • @majest33

    XD

  • i don't get why the orcs look like they're dressed as tuskan raiders

  • Aragorn looks like the guy from No Country for Old Men

  • what kind of animation is this? it looks like real and cartoon

  • its called rotoscope, alot of old animated films did it. To save money and not have to draw everything out, they would film people, then traced out over it. It makes a difference in how things look, but it usually acheives a certain effect here (like background characters, or dark things like riders/orcs).

  • HOW can u even make a comparison?? Jacksons films were done very recently an cost hundreds of millions. This was done in 1978 and cost thousands.

There is no comparison - they are separate and equal at once.

  • The scariest part was when the orcs are coming out of the fog, and the music starts playing. AHHH!

  • Agreed. Insulting the cartoon movies just because they weren't Jackson's is a weak argument. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Jackson's work but I like these too. OKay I'll admit this one doesn't hold as much of a place in my heart mainly because I only saw it once as a kid and saw the Rankin/Bass ones plenty of times and I do like Sam, Frodo, and Gandalf more in those (these ones move and react just a little over the top). But it's not a bad movie. All the versions have flaws but all are magnificent!

  • I don't think that Jackson's version had flaws :)

Oh wait... there was one... the Ents (trees) were way too muppet-like, in the books they didn't walk and had eyes and stuff, they grew their roots... well whatever. This cartoon is cool too.

  • Well I meant whe nby the books. But that's something people are often overly harsh about anyway with movies based off books. It's called ADAPTATION. It's their own vision on how to tell the story and uses accuracy at the same time (Eragon sadly did not do well at that). No I think moviewise Jackson's are soem of the best movies ever. Just bookwise it has some lesser moments.

  • those orcs do they speak hungarian? or wut?

  • ya wheres part 12....why the fuck alsmot each time someone uplaods theres always a part miing...doing in it on purpose?........
