  • all of the videos from Razik are great... thanks for them!

  • i prefer to have a control grip and a little more heavy raquet so the swing is more powerful

  • First video i've seen that actually makes sence. Thanks for sharing!

  • Could you explain that amateurs mistake? I don't see the difference...

  • Whats with porno intro music?

  • Good video, I'll watch the others. I usually get in two days of squash a week. Great sport.

  • uwaterloo?

  • i need a new raquet. I just started playing squash about a year or two now. Love this sport. whats a good raquet? I clearly have no clue whats good and whats not and I want to get my moneys worth. I bought a crappy diadora thing for 30 bucks. Now i play like 4-5 days a week. Such a great sport. Any reccomendations?

  • nice

  • Okay!

  • What he demonstrated at 1:16 was closing the face of the racket, where's the problem. @Relick666, perhaps he was showing something different than what you're coach said (or you need a new coach). I thought of it as turning the racket in you're hand not moving you're grip though is the same. The trick is if you hold the racket up and loose in your arm like he does and see the side of the frame the racket is closed, this is wrong, if you can read the logo on the strings the racket is open.

  • u r an idiot!!!!! at 1:16 u r completely wrong. learn how to hold the racket yourself before u post a video like this.

It doesn't close the racket face, it opens it!! u twist it CLOCKWISE about 30 - 45 degrees, therefore opening the racket face!!!!

    ur an idiot mate

  • @DrCrazyFishMan

    you are being too harsh!

razik is a former top 20 squash player and is the current Canadian number one. I think the video was okay. These videos aren't meant for pros and expert players and seriously, if you are that much an expert yourself what are you doing on this page?

There are different grip styles . What he said at 1:16 was absolutely right. If you hold your grip like like that, it will open the backhand face and close the forehand.

  • LOL at 1:12 he starts saying that a big mistake amateurs make is bringing the V shape to that side of the racquet, thing is, my teacher tells me that is the correct way of grip. :S

What do people here think would be the best way to grip? I'm confused more now than before lol xD

  • Raziksquash Facebook page now up!

  • thnx

  • @meudza How often will a player go from Continental to Eastern? Have you heard many players using Semi-Western.

  • @mrbobevans I am not shure about what all these you mentioned, what they are, but most club players are using a grip which is something between correct squash grip like in the video and tenis grip. I beleve for changing the grip most important thing are solo drills.

  • @mrbobevans Howewer, playing with correct grip might seem almost impossible if you swinging or standing wrong. And then you 'll notice that your back and quads and abs are too weak to mantain ballance and so on...

  • My son's tennis coach watched a Federer interview with Charlie Rose. Fed said he uses 7 different grips during a match.

  • TENNIS RACKET OR WHAT?!!?

  • that's so hard to me cause every time I hold the racket different way :/ And now I've got serious back contusion I can't play at all :(

  • I sweat a lot, and when I start dripping, I loose control of the racket, any tips?

  • If you watch squash matches here on youtube you will see most players wipe their hands against the walls, they to that to remove the sweat off their hands.

  • I do whipe my hands too, but its not enough. I think I need a fuzzy grip or something.

  • Try a towel grip, many proffesionals used them in the 80s 90s. those will work better when wet.

  • I used to have a similar problem. Tips would be (i) wipe your hands on the wall before each point (ii) use anti-perspirant or a resin pad in your pocket to dry up sweat from your hands (iii) get an absorbent grip and (iv) don't run around so much, the better you play the less you should need to run around (anticipation, execution and tactics should all help).

  • @himerius2007 Me too. The only thing I do is keep a towel handy - and wristbands.

  • merci pour l'info

  • More videos in the future plans!

  • Politack, " this person " is a former top twenty player in the world. He has never reached the level Peter Nicol did, but I think he knows the proper way to hold a squash racquet.

  • So you make the v on the narrow part of the grip? Doesn't it shift around for backhand forehand switches like in tennis?

  • Nice tip for beginners, thank you

  • Surely everyone has to start somewhere, there's nothing wrong with this kind of advice

  • you obviously dont know that when peter nicol was world no.1 he changed his grip after winning the BO

  • peter nicol is one of the top players in the world, and his racket skills are alot higher than the average squash player, and that gives him the opportunity to change his grip and still play the way he plays.

This person does know what hes talking about in terms of grip. Its the perfect way to hold it then when you get better you can adjust it for comfortableness.

  • i have a squash rockets i have a spalding and a wilson witch is the best???

    btw ty

  • Thanks for the tips!

  • Dummy Its A SQUASH Racket And This Guy Owns Ive PLayed With Him So!

  • 'Is that a Tennis Racquet?'

Ha ha, yeah and that's a fucking Badminton Court too......

  • erm, its a squash racket and a squash court....

  • Yeah I know dip shit. I was replying to somebody';s earlier comment of:

    'Is that a Tennis Racquet'

    Muppet

  • is that a tennis racquet?

  • yeh it is

  • no it actually isnt its a head metallix 160 i think... string pattern 14/16 makes it look kind of look like a tennis racquet

  • No it isnt GuitarFreak96 i bought a metallix yesterday

  • o excuse me its the metallix 140 i saw the model name on the side

  • Maybe with the looks, but I saw Brian Ernst play some time ago and he is a very attacking player, he goes for lot of shots and compared to Razik. You will never see Brian play a 150 minute match... NEVER!

  • Yeah, and you'll aslo never see Brian Ernst ranked at 20 in the world!

  • Did you know that in the Netherlands we have a player called Brian Ernst who looks just like Razik?

  • gr8 video must see to learn squash

    thanks uploader

  • ese wey me pela la verga a jugar

  • vocaliza -.-"

  • wen i play racquetball i always bend the metal on the bottom of the wall.

  • thanks...!!

  • Gr8 video dude

  • Great vid! Thanks for sharing.

But are you sure the index finger goes that spread? I see on your other vids that the index finger is a little closer... I tried this yesterday (I'm a total noob in squash) and it felt a little loose.

I guess it's a little of personal too, I guess.

Thanks for sharing again! Great production value! :D
