  • I dont get why people keep asking for lessons. Its pretty simple to figure out by just watching what you do

  • Please do a lesson/tutorial of this song. I'm sure alot of people would appreciate it.

  • Your middle finger in the song is for the haters. You rock!

  • nice guitar !!

  • hey man could you do a lesson of this in standard tuning that would be awesome and great job by the way!

  • If you had a couple of skull rings it would be just like watching Keith!! Damn good.

  • power chords avec le petit doigt

    comme james hetfield

  • you should make a lesson of this, YouTube need this more than a new look. I couldn't found any good lesson of standard tuned guitar in Gimme Shelter. Your technique is amazing.

  • Do you think you could do a lesson?

  • your guitar sounds very awkward

  • @Vaultsprings, his guitar sounds very good. Perhaps your ears listen very awkwardly.

  • How you always get sound like studio versions??

  • ur a dick

  • Hi, happy new year. Can I clarify this is standard tuning, C# E or B? A chords? Is it so that Keef Plays live nowadays in standard but originally, during let it bleed days, this was played with two guitars. one standard like this and the other in open E?

Keep up the good work... :0)

  • Which set of tabs did you use?

  • mind saying the model of les paul u are using here mate?excellent cover-lesson btw....

  • what paula is that?

  • I've checked out many of your videos and noticed you have quite the assortment of Tee shirts. You need to take your number of video views and get nationwide businesses to pay you to wear their tee's (product placement fee). Great songs, great sounding marshall, and great lessons. One request - How about Nugents Great White Buffalo. I can't figure out what looks like A string blues lick with his ring finger for that unique riff. I know you can. Thanks....

  • nice tone, what amp settings do u use?

  • Great playing. You really nailed this song! And beatifull guitar. Could you tell me what amp you`re using. it really sounds like the stones.

    Cheers. Rock on.

  • really enjoy your cover/lessons keep up the great work!

  • The microphone is 57' classic' ?

  • are you using a foot pedal?

  • @bigcomphycouch No.

  • w.o.w. <= 3 alphabets and thats all i need. sub and liking

  • Nice

  • good job man!;)

  • that is fantastic. Now I gotta go pick up my guitar and work on this instead of just watching from the sidelines..

  • Nice job son, 62 yr old rocker here , saw the stones play this live for the first time in 69, i enjoyed playing along with you. will check out your other videos

  • Nice you should do bass on some songs

  • @Oi325 Should I try drums, too? Or maybe the horn parts would be good.

  • @privettricker- heard this on call of duty then booted up your lesson and got stuck into my fender that i bought new in 91 but don't deserve as i can't play for s..t but these sort of numbers are easy and you made it even easier keep it up man i enjoyed it so much

  • @privettricker Why do you always have to be a sarcastic asshole in most of your responses? You're good, but that doesn't entitle you to be such a douche bag.

  • @AnusExamination You have no idea how badly I want to write a sarcastic reply. But since you've already named yourself AnusExamination, I don't really think I need to.

  • @privettricker Think you cool?..

  • @RansomGangsterBox245 If you're expecting a sarcastic response, I'm afraid you're going to be awfully disappointed.

  • @privettricker Nah i wasn't i just like how you think you're the shit and makes me laugh a little., Sorry fatboi..

  • @RansomGangsterBox245 Peace, brother.

  • @RansomGangsterBox245 Hey, I just checked out your channel. I really enjoyed your comments on the "Gears of War 3 - Dom's Moment With Maria Before Death R.I.P. DOM" clip. I also thought it was awesome how you like to post "Think you cool?" on people's videos. Very insightful. But maybe you should stick to video games and leave the guitar playing to us grown-ups. Run along now, son.

  • @AnusExamination True, I respect he can play it, but really ANYONE can play it if they have the time and talent. But if you can create this type of masterpiece, I'll have a lot more respect for you..

  • I had an idea I would like to run by you. As we are playing, we can see where our fingers are at on the fretboard right tidy like. What if we put the camera on our right shoulder pointed straight at the fretboard more or less as we look at it. Not only does that give a perfect fingering perspective but it puts the internal microphone in a little USB camera right at our mouth level giving a perfect singing or instructive point for the built in microphone. I have a usb camera and they're cheap.

  • THIS IS VERY FUCKIN' COOOOOOL... NICE JOB, BRAUGH...

  • Did you ever notice that when played in open E,the beginning of Gimme Shelter is very similar to 19th Nervous Breakdown? Just played ( strummed) a bit differently.

Just my observation, ( running away with me)

  • lesson please?

  • @wellergilardino9 .......this is a lesson. if you can't use your eyes and ears to figure it out by watching this your probably not ready to play this song......

  • just wondering but I see you playing your power chords with your pinkie finger on the 5th instead of your ring finger

  • Comment removed

  • @jlange904 I haven't posted an actual instruction/lesson on this, just a demo in standard tuning and a demo in open E.

  • stop giving me the finger

  • @sjconker64 Congratulations! You're the one-millionth person to make that hysterical joke!

  • @privettricker is there really alot of people who make that joke because if so that's fucking pathetic

  • have u done a video lesson on this?? if not can u??

  • Yet again, awesome mate, my band are gonna do this in our set, seeing as we dont have the female vocals we are going to do the vocals like the stereophonics version I think, unless I put a clamp on my nuts!

  • Yet again, awesome mate, my band are gonna do this in our set, seeing as we dont have the female vocals we are going to do the stereophonics version I think.

  • good job bro.im much metal than rock but u play well!!!!keep it

  • awesome dude!!!

  • great cover:D i love watching your videos cos you get everyone spot on! fantastic work!:D

  • I am fixated on your nut.

  • You should have played the lead guitar.

  • nice

  • F'ing A !!! THis is great ... must feel great to play like that ... the ladies must go WILD !

Meanwhile just saw a solid guitar tutorial on this by Tonedr .. excellent .. but you seem to have a simpler way of playing it .. yet they BOTH sound perfect ... anyway .. great playing .. very cool .. pg

btw .. are you using standard tuning ? You got the right sound too .. and the choice of guitar strings .. amp .. settings .. you did it right ! ALso .. I gotta give credit to Keith Richards too.

  • Hi, i was wondeting if you could tell me your amp settings?, great cover u nailed it!

  • @IpodNnjAs Honestly, I don't pay much attention to amp settings. I just turn the knobs until it sounds OK to me. Then I mess them up when I do the next song. Sorry -- I really should probably write down some of the settings.

  • @privettricker Enjoyed your playing especially as you'll only be young and it's kind of reassuring when young guys still like the Stones. I've been bashing my guitar since 66 and still use the same principle you do about settings - sort of the ambience of the room more than anything.

  • Where are the TABS ? LOOK AT WHAT HE IS PLAYING ,, its not rocket science , its 3 chords for christ sake

  • Badass playing bro!

  • I learned this about at the age of 11. I'm 15 and its been a while since I played this @_@

  • OK then let's hear the solo to Street Fighting Man off Ya Ya's.

  • Great Stuff....:)

  • Great job !!! tabs?

  • I just watched the Bridges to Babylon live DVD. Keith appeared to be playing it in standard tuning very similar to how you are playing it.

  • Thanks for keeping both hands in frame. Makes things so much easier.

Also, you rock. So thanks for that, too.

  • The people that disliked this are jealous, even I'm jealous, but I don't dislike vid that shows someone mastering an amazing song BY EAR.

  • Once again ... your stuff is "spot-on". I've been playing since 1967, and you're the MOST consistant source for guitar parts I've seen yet. Thank you ... please keep it coming.

  • Like always, awesome !!! Best stones covers ! What are you playing at 1.05? Few ideas for your next covers, Run Rudolph run played by Keef, and Carol (GYYYO version). Cheers

  • use some tremolo effect and clean sound in intro and it will be great!!!

    at least i think!!

  • @Deviangr It would also be great if you did that. So go ahead and post your version. There's room on YouTube for a million versions of this song.

  • @privettricker but the switch between lead and rhythm is one the best I've seen here........

  • thats a pretty cool cover uve got there

  • Awwsssooommmeeee !!!!!!!!!!

  • Is this in Open E? Played standard all my life until learning Stones songs.. Whole new experience. Quite simple.. just different.

  • @rcflybry I'm not playing it in open E.

  • this is sweet!

  • cool

i can almost do tht lolz an fail

  • you are very good i will jealous

  • its amazing how something so simple can sound so unique.

  • Can you tell me where to get the tabs for this? PM me the link. Or did you do it by ear?

  • @Aekeos Sorry, I just play by ear. I make up all my own arrangements, and as you can see by the comments, some people disagree with how I figure things out!

  • @privettricker For your listening ( & veiwing pleasure! ).... search for [720p] U2 ft. Mick Jagger, Fergie & Will.i. ... & thanks for another great video

  • @privettricker really cuz i think its awesome

  • woot i just learned every song on zelda ocarina of time on the guitar

  • @joebionekenobi I was going to say I wish I knew what you were talking about, but I really don't wish I knew.

  • I really dont understand peoples comments, your stuff is great, the lessons are good for the complicated passages in some songs and the rest of the videos are much intuitive

  • @spencereliza You don't understand their comments because you're not an insecure prick.

  • more of a cover, doesn't really explain how to play it Could have been very hekpful but wasnt

  • @blackberryxyz1 Hmmm. Please tell me where I indicated it was an explanation or a lesson on how to play it. As for how helpful guitar demos are, I think that has a lot to do with the viewer's skill level.

  • @privettricker

pls release a tutorial of this and ill sub you and get you publicity pls pls pls make a tutorial.

  • more of a cover, doesn't really explain how to play it

  • It´s a verry nice cover!! best greetings from Germany:)

  • Fantastic! Great playing! What tuning did you play it in?

  • @ambidexterity1 I did it in standard. I've heard people say it's an open tuning (E or G), but I've never heard anyone play it that way and sound anything like the recording. I'd actually love to hear it played well in an open tuning.

  • @privettricker Brilliant :D i think keeith plays it in OPEN G but im 100% sure :D

  • Please do a lesson!!!

  • woah please release a tutorial that... that... wow

  • @69rubberduckey That makes sense. Wedding band on ring finger. people are usually married by thee time they're 12 right?

  • Exactly on with the beat, no screw ups, you sounded as if you were doing the song in a recording studio but you weren't. This is probobly the best cover I"ve ever seen in my life! That is really sweet man. If someone was to have a tribute band of the Stones, I'd recommend you for Keith Richards fpor sure. You have what it takes! haha

  • I also learned the rhythm part in open E I read an old rolling stone article from 1970 and he just laid all the tunings and the way they were recorded right out on the table. He plays ALL the parts on this and you can tell. I wish I would have kept that old Rolling Stone magazine. He was on the cover and he just started to get into Open G and Nashville stringing and the whole world opened up for me as a fan and as a player too. Nashville stringing is really nice But I only Have 2 guitars?

  • Spot on, very nice playing. Although it has always been the drums that did it in this track for me.

  • @Aap1one Look up "Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter Unreleased Extended Remix" on YouTube. Some DJ remixed it and put the percussion way up front. It's killer.

  • @privettricker Thanks for the headsup, killer version indeed. Enjoyed it very much.

  • Best Stones Covers and playing details on YouTube- thanks so much

  • you should were kieth's skull ring. that would be amazing!

  • great videos dude keep it up

  • The tremolo/rhythm guitar on the studio version was tuned to open E.

  • I enjoyed that to be honest. Made sense some of the chords I have been trying to hit. Surprised how easy the lick is.

  • your nuts do that les paul no justice, lol, nice vid- great playing

  • @TheCannabisKing My nuts do everything justice!

  • @TheCannabisKing I nice Gibson always enlarges your nuts...Just ask the groupies !

  • @TheF86Sabre lmao

  • Trick what amp do you use for that song ?

  • The origonal , on the album, was in "open E", tune, I thought,...thats the way I was taught and its spot on,..Live they will play on Open G, but not on the album?

  • Comment removed

  • @minikurt67 Just out of curiosity, do you post anything other than negative comments on any YouTube videos? Would a hug resolve your issues?

  • Right on brother....keep 'em comin'!

  • That was tight! Pretty tight jeans too...

  • nice mate

  • Nicee!!!, Testies .

  • Is that in standard tuning or open E?

  • @MrDelfined Probably Open G but don't take my word for it

  • @LeBuckeye Definitely Open G and don't forget to remove the low E string!!

  • @MrDelfined Im pretty sure that to get the authentic sound quality its an open E tuning.

  • probably my favorite. word class guitar collection. if you had to keep ONE electric which would it be?

  • Yea I believe rubberduckey plays with his rubberduckey in the tub! Great playing, man!!

  • @69rubberduckey Are you 12 years old?

  • Comment removed

  • @privettricker yes why

  • @privettricker

    yea why

  • @69rubberduckey wtf u talking about shoulder spasms?

  • @privettricker Do you know that its rude to answer a question with a question?

  • @FunnyVidsIllustrated Do you know I don't care?

  • @privettricker do you know that its not a big deal it was a joke so chill and ya i am 12 so ya u need to chill out and stop crying about it

  • Yeah I know it takes really good earphones and it's so subtle. Right after the first verse when he starts"you got my heart... Then Brian comes in so softly.

  • Yep, just about the best version around. There's loads of ways to play this, and one way or another, they're mostly right. Whether you play an A shape chord or this way, or open E, it all works. This is my favourite way to play it, 'coz it's easier to fit in any little licks at the 9th fret. One thing I couldn't get from your video is at around 1:05, what you were actualy doing on the C# chord.. Any chance of a brief explanation of that bit to help out thick idiots like me?

  • can you please post a video how to play the solo part, that would be great.

  • love you Les Paul Standard "Only Gibson is good enough"

  • sounds great. over the years i've seen Richards play this in concert on a strat, telecaster, les paul and an sg. in your opinion what guitar was used in the actual recording?

  • @gt350r11 On the recording, he used a hollow-bodied Australian guitar, which he also used for Midnight Rambler. There are a few pix of him (and Brian) using it in the studio circa '68. Keith claims that the neck broke off the guitar at the very end of the master take of Gimme Shelter, even says you can hear it on the record (I can't!).

  • There is a simpler way of playing this, when given the choice it's unlikely Richards would take the harder route.

  • @clean3 Hmm. I'm playing this almost entirely on 3 strings, not even full barre chords. Does that look too difficult for Keith to play? If there's an easier way, I'd love to see it.

  • THIS SONG plays in 3 great movies. and in every scene this song starts playing thers SOMETHING about to go down

    Casino

    Departed YES or NO?
