  • May I ask what compelled you to take up reading this book in particular; what drew you to Schopenhauer?

  • @hippymilk certianly. when i have a chance i go to the library and surround myself with boks on various diciplines, esp. philosophy texts, and i decided to see what they had to offer in that section. by luck i came across Julian Young's book on schopenhauer before i became genuinly intrested in finding other texts about him. Idon't retendtoknow his system completely yet, however Bryan Magees book is very insightful reagurding aspects of it. In comparison to other authors of his day, and still

  • @philomypillow they all seem to stale in that their systems, and indeed those works without it, offer portions of scattered contributions that don't compliment eachother as well as his. Another attractve feature for my drawing closer to his work is that he like myself defends an agnostic/athiestic view at a very deep understanding beyond what is commonly fashioned in pop culture. Since his philosophy can only be completely understood as a whole, im going to continue until ive grasped it.
