Inverting the screen colours will actually diminish battery life - An LCD screen's backlight is fixed on during normal use, and LCD screens work by filtering that backlight. Less energy is used just to let the backlight shine through, producing a white colour, rather than filtering it, to produce black.

Actually, the time is based on the computer just on the desktop page. Because if it uses a little bit of CPU the computer will need to run better making it have less battery.
