  • loooooooooooool funny teachers face :D

  • Nicely done Peter. Respect.

  • I'm not used to seeing Peter singing without playing the piano ;D

  • Comment removed

  • that's a funky jazz version!

  • oh my god , i love peter sensual yeah yesssssssssssssssssssssssssexy

  • This is such a fantastic video! I've listened to it for several years now...and it's the best one, by dannyqb, out of all the st. Louis Blues sounds from that day in the city. The music is really loud and clear, compared to the others. The drummer is so cool, and the sax is the max!! Of course Peter is fantastic! I know this is a rendition of an older song that has been done many times...but this one is a 'one in a million'!! Such a cool groove!!

  • Black dude on the drums is #1!

  • olala, it's the best crooner, Thx Peter !

  • hahahaah. He can totally NOT pull it off. He's too slimy. :P

  • I think this is truly awesome (I use that word infrequently). Just cuz I'm old (have heard Bessie Smith do this live), doesn't mean I can't appreciate another artist's rendition.

  • i really like this

i just dont like the cello

  • @SierenH That's not a cello, it's an Upright Bass. When Jazz was in its prime around the 30's. They used those kind of bass guitars.

  • @robin17171 oh i didnt know that

  • @SierenH its big though

  • Piano solo is bangin'...

  • !!!

  • If you like this, you like me ! ;)

    I'm the official Peter Cincotti's look like ! :)

Go and see on my account and let me a message in order to add me on facebook ...

  • Nice!!!!

  • white jazz musicians and predomninantly black audience. Isn't that backwards?

  • i'm a white guy but c'mon... Bring back the soul. I'm going to search for Sydney Bechet's version of this song now. Or Satchmo. Or Bessie Smith. For all you young white aspiring jazz artists, don't bother. Go cure cancer or build a rocket or something.

  • @jnmshmacm Discouragement. Not cool.

  • typical boring white voice.. lol

  • I love you Peter !

  • I enjoyed! One of the infinite elements of music that I'm SO grateful for is how it serves as a bridge for people to connect to one another; people who might not otherwise become acquainted. I am a latino from central Wyoming and was the only latino in my entire school. There was one black dude, one of my best friends. My most favorite music is that of Afro-American culture & style. People can try to put up walls with fear, but they will never hold. Love never fails. Music rocks! Love, Scotty

  • Really enjoyed this!

  • Cool

  • nice !...

  • nice, but i like the old style more

  • Ugh, another Michael Buble?

This is like a Mountain Dew commercial.

So to be a singer now, you just have to hit the notes, I guess. Don't worry about feeling, phrasing, soul, interpretation, etc.

    This sucks the big one.

  • @Thelookoutslookout Peter and Michael released their debut albums in the same year your retard. This is his early jazz stuff. Peter is a wonderful singer and michael is overrated and changed his sound when he got real famous.

  • @darklord2626 I couldn't care less. They both suck.

  • How can you make a W.C handy piece sound so gay?

Answer: playing blues piano while biting your lip, stupid dancing, those dumb shaker things that barely make a noise, its a simple reciepe

    ...just add white people

  • st. louis! wootness lols i live there

  • M'en fous, je l'ai vu sur scène en VRAI, à 1,50m !

  • @gilouseb Enfoiré.

  • @Dalosify Jalouse.

  • the contrabass is perfect.musically it's also just brilliant

  • this song and glass of wein .... a brilliant couple

  • Peter is very good singer and musician. White man with black feeling.

  • sexy

  • Musically this song is great, but i hate the lyrics. Less singing and more improv would make this better.

  • Blades 99 is an ignorant child....this is the first blues song written 1909....you can't critique the very first song of a whole genre! W.C. Handy

  • Uh ignorant child? I dont give a fuck when this was written, i hate the lyrics, and i believe i just did critique the very first song of a whole genre, (if this is even it).

  • Watch Bessie Smith do this from back in the day versus this crap and you might get it.....

  • @popegeorgeringo You prove my point of how closed minded people are. ESPECIALLY when it comes to music. You just don't appreciate change. And hey, it's still jazz. How can you NOT like jazz?? I am only 15, so what do I know right?

  • @popegeorgeringo

bessie smith would say, music is no competition.. so he would swing all the way till this day ;)

  • Musically it sucks. This is supposed to be a habbanera. This guy can't sing. Brass solos are lame to say the least. sigh...

  • AWESOME......BRAVOOOOO

  • Doesn't get any better than this!! Bravo!

  • is it Obed who's playing on the Drums ? 0_0

  • That's Mark McLean. Peter started playing with Obed later :)

  • This is not just a a 12 bar blues. Some parts of the piece is a 12 bar blues but not all. Just to make it correct! :)

  • anyone know where i can get this song?

  • It's on his second album, "On the Moon"

  • I like the drum

  • well, he can!

  • Peter.. will you marry me? :D

  • I love this guy!!!!

  • LOLOLOL!! he is still playing the hihat instead of the ride as in the video jackass

  • Well fuck yeah my man!

  • I'm just making fun of kpodsiadlo, don't you get it?

  • Why don´t you all just shut up:P This song is fucking amazing and he made something great of it

  • omygod a terrible version of a wicked song-cant hear the feeling give me jim jackson any day-this is a joke-or for the club set who dont know better.

  • Another worthless and voiceless singer just like bublee a bum! Copycat without voice? Hail bums

  • Excellent!!J'adore Peter Cincotti!!

  • I hope your mother, wife and first child die of a horrible and painful death!!!!!!

  • in 1:31 we can clearly see drummer hitting ride cymbal, when in song there is hi-hat. WTF?

  • What?! It's a shame!! Surely someone has been fired for this.

  • Also, in 0:49, the bass player plays a C when in the song they're playing a B!!! I'll never listen to this guy again!

  • Its called music video m8...

  • man he hits it with the left hand turns from snare to hi hat while hitting the ride

  • Do you hear that ride? Anyway, I don't see the move of his left hand, and hihat is all the time closed. I know that is music video, but it is a huge mistake.

  • well yes i think youre correct but now that i see it again and again it really looks really fake and not only that part

  • i love this song

  • I'm speechless.

    fantastic version

  • Wou j'adore trop

En plus il est beau il chante bien et il joue trop bien du piano ^^

  • I love this!

  • Jazz is in our blood where I come from...Cape Town South Africa and this song is awesomely funky cool!! I only just discovered this artist after I heard his Philidelphia song in France...quite an excellent new talent I must admit...luv the band..

  • I've heard that version and I think it sounds good, Paul Robeson does have a way of singing it that's quite spiritual in nature. I do like the music in this version, but I really do think that Peter Cincotti gives a week performance of the song. Yes, it's good to keep the song alive, but only if you're going to do it the right way. I'm sorry for being critical, but I have very strong opinions about these things that I try to express in a polite way, but still get my piont across.

  • oh really?... r u an xpert?...have u studied music? or is this ur own very personal impression?

  • I know this comment is a little late, but yes, I have, and I still do, I'm a musician, I love all kinds of music. I really like the band in this and peter doesn't sing any wrong notes or anything like that, I just don't believe what he's singing, he doesn't convince me the way Bessie Smith or Louis Armstrong do, (in my opinion) he needs more feeling!

  • Everybody who wants to hear the real thing just listen to Paul Robesons version, also on here on youtube.

  • Dear Todd, don't be so critical. Peter Cincotti sings it because he is a huge fan and artist in Jazz. The originals are always the best... but isn't it good to keep the songs alive ?

  • I really don't like this version of this song! It's a great old jazz song that was done wonderfully in recordings by Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong, and Cab Calloway, but this guy's version is generally lacking in the vocals and emotion of the song, and also the rhythm! The band is very tight, but a funky beat doesn't fit this song. It can be slow or fast, but it's gotta be bluesy! I wish you could hear the versions that I've heard, then you would understand the true genius of this song!

  • I think his band is much more solid than he is. His drummer and bass player especially.

  • Cute!!

  • yeah..think so 2:P!

  • Noone can compare to Maxine, but this is really nice nonetheless.

  • I like this guy too. He has an OK voice, but because of his jazz musicanship he gets the most out of the voice with a kind of Harry Connick type feel. A mature concept overall for someone so young.

  • I really like Peter C. He doesn't have a great voice, but he can play the piano superbly and puts together and covers some great songs.

  • Actually most jazz singers do not train themselves for a polished vocal ability like opera singers. Love the way they are, love opera singers too.
