  • @pinfinity 12" WGS Veteran It's in the description...

  • Thats some nice bluesy tone from about 1:10 on :-)

  • It does sound quite muddy. Is it the amp or the recording?

Seems to have great dynamic & distortion response though.

  • @cableaddict it's got a tiny output transformer, and is using a tube generally used for preamps as the power tube, so I'd guess that that's why it sounds muddy.

  • Very cool! I built one too, and I can't decide if I want to mount it in a homemade combo enclosure, or if I want to get a piece of walnut (like for a trophy or plaque) to mount it on for display.. Hmm.

  • IIRC, the first (both triodes in cascode I think) it's a booster you can switch on or off, the second has the two main triodes of the pre and the third works as a power tube

  • Is this push-pull amp?

I see 3 dual triodes. The first one is a preamp tube, the second one is a phase inverter, and the third one is a power amp. Like in Russian Yerasov Gavrosh 8. Am I right?

  • I tried to run a GAS 89dB/1W on a T-amp during a festival this summer and though the 55h car battery lasted a full week I could not really compete with the crowd when it got really wild. How would 1 watt be able to supply any volume? I noticed also that the bass suffered and the lower freq were cut when it got too loud.

  • These aren't meant for serious gigging, can't push enough air, this is an apartment type amp, or for close-miking in studio.

  • @kerranz

It's perfect for gigging. You just use a mic, then the stage volume is under control & everyone can here each other. My guitarists uses a 2-watt amp, and it's almost too loud.

  • @cableaddict As I said it's fine if you're going to mic it, but of course that adds a generation in the sound, adding mic capabilities (or weaknesses), cables and board and whatever's in between. Can't always trust the house PA or wiring.

  • Good project!!! I think I'll build one sooner or later...

  • approximately how much did it cost you to build this amp? with hardware, chassis and all (tubes excluded)?

  • clean up the tone a little bit or use a better mic for recording but I can tell that the warm tube sound is there...nice job! nice lead channel, but the powerchords sound too sloppy. you need a better edge to it IMO. maybe its just the recording though.

  • great tone, but can You get some nice clean sound out of it?

  • @plexisound google "firefly amp" and the plans and parts list are the first hit.

  • Hello baddogmoots,

really cool sounding amp! 70ies sound!!!

Where can i find a layout?

    Want to build one!
