fuck they ruined the sniping..... i miss everything about the gears 2 sniper (except the hit detection but that was a technical error not the sniper) first off the transparent view when zoomed in was amazing, now i find myself confused as to where i am looking when zooming in at times. And more than anything the reticles expanding while moving was a huuuuge let down. who can honestly say they dont miss hopping around and strafe sniping people while targeting? and the the reticle is too big!

It was like Gears 1 or Gears 2 where people would strafe left and right, that doesn't work...plus you could also pop heads while a person is in cover easier in Gears 3. Fuck everything in Gears 3 is easier to appeal to the typical "casual" scrubs.

Sniper battles, real ones back in 06-07, sniping was alot more fucking beast, compared to now where those who pick up sniper can't get a headshot if their life depended on it in Gears 1. Gears 1 sniping was difficult in its own way, yet in Gears 3 I could get headshots with it like no tomorrow. So yes, sniping in gears 3 is easy..and don't say it "registers" because Gears 1 actually registered unlike Gears 2 shit gameplay.

every man is riding up on this, there's obviously something different about the sniper in gow 3 because shots were never this smooth before, in gow 2 ever1 said that headshots never register but rlly that only ever happens 1 out of 10 times, the other 9 times are just misses that are called headshot registration fail but in gow 3 if you ever miss a shot like most of the community in gow 2 it'll curve onto their head and be said that headshots register in gow 3
@pacman79790 its dedicated servers, if you were to become host in GoW2, the sniper would always register... its just that now they put up dedicated servers so that everyone has a fair chance of winning, instead of the host of the game being the guaranteed winner.
@UnknownBlindfire There's an aim-assist in this game. My experience with the sniper rifle during the beta had absolutely nothing to do with lag or registry AT ALL! Aim-assist and large hitboxes around the character's heads make sniping in this game too easy.

Also, the hitboxes aren't larger than their heads unless it's a character with a smaller head because they made them have the same size hitbox on every character and their heads have always been big in every game. I've been clutch at sniping since the first Gears came out, and the only difference I see is that the shots actually fucking register now and you don't need to compensate for lag.
@ZAIPIPA there is no aim assist anywhere in any gears game, including gears 3. you are correct about the hitboxes however, and also the sniper rounds have a sort of aoe that triggers headshots even if the shot was closer to the body or just a miss.
@ZAIPIPA there is an aim assist on gears 1 too. Try sweeping the aimer over the head of an enemy and you'll notice that the aimer slows down when you reach the head area!!! Guaranteed!!

You should of slowed it down and what not if you felt you didn't deserve it because to me it actually seemed like you aimed at the head everytime. In this game there is no lag or delay and shots pick up much more nicely than GoW 1 or 2 so no not too easy more like what it should of been all along. There have been time where you get a head shot and not the kill so no not too easy.
oh well in that case do you plan on doing beast mode for GOW3 when it comes out? you get to play as the locust and have all there weapons you even get to play the berserker.....

I bet they couldn't find a proper way to fix the broken gears 2 headshot detection so they made the hit box massive instead. I also recall getting plenty of headshots in the beta, and I'm a skilled player but most of the time I was even saying WTF when I landed some of those shots. It just didn't feel right.
Taking out aim assist would really seperate the Great players from the good players. Sniping is not to easy in Gears 3 it just seems like it because Gears 1 & 2 snipers made no sense/ didn't register at all.
This is the problem that they adressed after the beta the noscope crosshairs have been made larger so its not as easy.
Also what they did to the sniper made it a real power weapon. ill be honest and say i suck with the gears 2 sniper i would get 1 kill every 2 times i picked it up, but the gears 3 beta sniper turned that around and i would get at the least 2 kills every time i got it. the point im making is compared to the 2 or 3 kills i would have gotten with the boomshot,torque bow or frags
the fact that u didnt scope helped you a lot...it's just the way the mechanics work in gears...if their head is in the reticule then it its gone...

@ZAIPIPA there is no aim assist anywhere in any gears game, including gears 3. you are correct about the hitboxes however, and also the sniper rounds have a sort of aoe that triggers headshots even if the shot was closer to the body or just a miss.

@ZAIPIPA there is an aim assist on gears 1 too. Try sweeping the aimer over the head of an enemy and you'll notice that the aimer slows down when you reach the head area!!! Guaranteed!!

Those were easy as fuck head shots you just did those kids were walking right at you in a line. Try sniping some one good. It might be a little too easy but at least there is no one shot down. Now people are a little more hesitant to charge head on into a player weilding a sniper. If i pick up a power weapon i want to feel like i have a power weapon. I WANNA FEEL THE POWA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ZAIPIPA Sniping has changed, I have the game on my J-Tag. It's harder then the beta, But the sniping does seem easier compared to gears 1 sniping. Gears 3 is amazing and the sniping reminds me of the good ol' days. Campaign is AMAZING!

You should of slowed it down and what not if you felt you didn't deserve it because to me it actually seemed like you aimed at the head everytime. In this game there is no lag or delay and shots pick up much more nicely than GoW 1 or 2 so no not too easy more like what it should of been all along. There have been time where you get a head shot and not the kill so no not too easy.

Nothing needs to be changed....just like the top comment says.... imagine if there wasnt any lag and each shot registered in gears 1 and 2. (youd probably complain because your bad and you get your head popped 12 times in 1 game) and no. a shot in the shoulder isnt a headshot. thats stupid and ridiculous. its a power weapon its meant to be good.... and the hitboxes arent to big. you probably just are used to playing gears 1 and 2 where if anything there werent hitboxes. lmao

As long as its better than gears 2 i cant tell you how many times i shot someone in the head and it didnt register, im pretty sure they just made the shots actually go where u want now because of gears 3 having dedicated servers now, i guess we will find out if it has changed when the game comes out

I bet they couldn't find a proper way to fix the broken gears 2 headshot detection so they made the hit box massive instead. I also recall getting plenty of headshots in the beta, and I'm a skilled player but most of the time I was even saying WTF when I landed some of those shots. It just didn't feel right.

Taking out aim assist would really seperate the Great players from the good players. Sniping is not to easy in Gears 3 it just seems like it because Gears 1 & 2 snipers made no sense/ didn't register at all.

This is the problem that they adressed after the beta the noscope crosshairs have been made larger so its not as easy.
Also what they did to the sniper made it a real power weapon. ill be honest and say i suck with the gears 2 sniper i would get 1 kill every 2 times i picked it up, but the gears 3 beta sniper turned that around and i would get at the least 2 kills every time i got it. the point im making is compared to the 2 or 3 kills i would have gotten with the boomshot,torque bow or frags
