How to unroot / unbrick the Samsung Epic 4G Touch

this worked just fine for me. I just need to know where to find a good ROM to install so I can root again. i was stuck at the 4G screen then it went into a boot loop.

Phone bricked so bad my home and settings buttons didn't work anymore, even my signal was knocked out, hard resets didn't work, followed your instructions and then the phone now works like a charm, saved 700 dollars today

@qbking77 Yea, everything was installed. I guess my cable finally gave out when I decided to do it. I was using my old NS4G cable for my Epic Touch 4G. I used my fresh new Epic Touch 4G cable now and it worked in a few quick minutes. This same thing happened to my Hero back in early CM7 days. I think something I did made it stop working though.

Mi rooted me epic4g touch usiong the Odin meathod but my bettery ran out way too fast. I unrooted my phone usuing this method but my battery still runs out fast.also my phone continues to heat up. Can you help me out?I ran the quadrant benchmarks and it got a score of over 3000. What can I do?

qbking just curious so the EG30/31 tar is the stock rom correct? im not saying it happened but is it possible for someone over there at XDA to have put some spyware on it? im just curious cause i flashed my phone back to stock using that tar. but is it possible? sorry if i dont make sense...

Thank you SO MUCH!! I had also used Treve's Carrier IQ, which soft-bricked my phone. (Of course Samsung can't make ANYTHING easy.) Rest assured, I'll be switching to a CIQ-removed ROM asap!

EG31 was created 1 day later than EG30. You can choose to go back to either.. I have videos for both. I'd recommend going back to EG30 for NOW (even the video says differently) BUT they're pretty much exactly the same. Sprint sees both of them as stock.

How many people are doing this because they got tired of the Loss of Service problem? I really want root because $30 a month is BS for wifi tether but I really dont want to have to deal with the LOS. Also if anyone knows a way to get around this LOS issue can you PM me?! Thanks!

I'm sorry if this is asked many times, qbking, but if I root my phone and mess something up, will there ALWAYS be a way to fix what I broke without having to replace the phone or send it into Sprint? Do you have any general guides or forum posts describing the complete guide to rooting safely?

i just downloaded kies and the necessary files and had my pda file checked in odin and my pit file in the pit box and only had auto reboot checked in odin...i put phone in odin mode and hit start in odin and after about a minute it said failed....please help....i used the zedomax root method

You are awesome! I have struggled with my Epic 4g Touch for countless hours after installing the Startburst ROM. That complete crap kept crashing and eventually my phone was a brick after tinkering to fix it.

Your vid revived my phone. I like the idea of rooting phone and customizing it (I am an IT guy), but i have to say the frustration after getting problems is not worth it.

Also, Icecream Sandwitch will be out soon, so rooting and installing ROMs is a bad idea right now.

So i was going to flash a new rom on my phone ( calk's to starbusrt) and wanted a fresh start.. after going to stock i kept on getting a locked 4g signal (ghost LoS?)and had to turn it off and back on again for it to work.. but would only last for 3 mins or so... I flashed the EG31modem.bin and it seems to have fixed it

Oh, one thing I was just curious about: When I return my phone to stock (I have the international version of the SGS2 and I'm using a different kernel/firmware of course!) after flashing the correct files using Odin and the phone reboots, the initial splash screen before the boot animation it says Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 on the splash screen. I was wondering if, because this is supposed to be stock, how come that doesn't display on your splash screen upon start-up?

Another thing that might help someone if they are having an issue with Odin recognizing their phone is to first make sure the phone is unplugged from the computer, go into the phones Settings > Applications > Development and check to see if USB Debugging is on. It's good to first make sure it's un-ticked and plug the phone it so that Samsung Kies can recognize the phone and install the drivers and then unplug it and re-tick USB Debugging and once again plug in the phone. Hope that helps someone!
