Is this cable compatible with N-Gage QD? Or has QD this feature? I found nothing about it. Then why is it called N-Gage TV-out if n-gage doesn't support it? :)
Yup, the Wii controller works too, though the app still has some severe limitations. I'm just waiting to get a zeemote so I can do a head-to-head with both of them, will try to do a video comparison of them.
The plugging in cables is to show how it's done, which is as important as the feature itself. A lot of people don't realise this is possible on their phones, they think TV Out is just for photos and vids.
The "ads" are just the credits, we did this video, it took us ages to set this up and get it on camera properly, so I think we deserve a mention. :-)
But in any case, you can actually skip forward on the timeline of the video once it's loaded a bit, you don't have to watch every second.
I know you have been asked so many questions but here are two more.
1. Can the N95 support a higher quality tv out such as s-video(black plug under where you connected the yellow one) or component video? From what ive heard these output higher quality video.
2. Can the bluetooth keyboard you showed us be used to type text messages and with other phones? I feel more comfortable typing on a bigger keyboard.
1. Yes. The N95 (and other Nokia phones with TV Out) can output at higher resolutions (up to VGA) when displaying videos and photos. It only uses QVGA when doing the other phone functions.
2. Yes, the main purpose of the BT keyboard is for typing on mobile devices, but it can be used to control any phone function you want. It uses the HID standard so it will work with lots of smartphones.
Yes, the N85 works with N-Gage and comes with N-Gage pre-installed.
N-Gage is on the 5320 XpressMusic, 6210 Navigator, N78, N79, N81, N81 8GB, N82, N85, N95, N95 8GB and N96, with more phones to be added in the future.
That's a good question! N-Gage isn't on any Eseries devices so far even though most of them are technically capable of running the games. I'd love to see N-Gage on things like the E71 and E51.
If I had to guess, I'd say they're avoiding the E90 because it has a non-standard size main screen, and also because such an expensive phone doesn't sell in huge numbers.
well ,atleast here in finland when the e90 came out it was sold out immidietly and it wouldnt be hard ...just load the right kind of game with the right rezo. easy.igueaa
although the new E63 looks like its meant for gaming !
(actually im not that pleased in ngage so far.. theres NO support for soo many devices)
i wonder if you could use the keyboard to navigate the actual phone menus and a Bluetooth game controller to play the games? I know they sell them at BestBuy. Bluetooth controllers that is.
Bluetooth controllers designed for games consoles won't necessarily work, because they won't use the same Bluetooth profile as most phones do. The keyboard works with the Bluetooth HID profile, so anything which uses HID will work with phones.
However, you can install special software on N-Gage-compatible phones to make them work with Nintendo Wii controllers (just the buttons though). I'm pretty sure there are videos of this in action on YouTube.
DAM!!!!!!!!!! that game looks like gamecube games do!!! i mean, i couldnt tell the differance between the graphics of a gc, and that phone!! thats so cool!! kudos

You're right, the N81 doesn't have TV Out.

Just click on the N-Gage icon, go to the application's showroom section and click on the game you want to download.

You can also use a wiimote as controller with a special app.

does n-gage work well on nokia n96? I know mosh don't! It run a little slow on it.
pukenpepsi 3 years ago
N-Gage runs fine on the N96, just like on other compatible phones.
Don't know about the MOSH stuff, maybe the MOSH app needs tweaking for the N96?

jimsthd 3 years ago
Resident Evil and Spore have both been recently confirmed for N-Gage.

speechless...
can n81 do this?
jimsthd 3 years ago
Unfortunately no, the N81 doesn't have TV Out. So far N-Gage-compatible phones with TV Out include the Nokia N95, N95 8GB, N82, N79, N85 and N96.
aantv 3 years ago
and some odd phone selections too.

N-Gage is basically on all new S60 devices so far. It seems like they've avoided older models due to their low amount of free RAM.
aantv 3 years ago
weell why isnt there for like E90 ?
(i know its not Nseries ,but it would rock in gaming !)

Yes indeed!
Some of AAN's readers have said Mobipad with the Wii controller is quite nice for browsing photos and using other phone functions too.

why i can't set my ngage games into landscape mode for my n82?
mmob123 3 years ago
I don't know, I don't have an N82 but it's possible that Nokia switched off that option on the N82 as it has no gaming or multimedia buttons.
That's a silly thing to do of course because a lot of the games don't need buttons, the d-pad is often enough to control them.
Hopefully Nokia will restore landscape on the N82 in future versions of the N-Gage app.
aantv 3 years ago
Wrong! N82 is the same OS with landscape mode both. Search plz!!
xradeon 3 years ago
Some people said they couldn't use N-Gage games in landscape/horizontal mode on the N82.

Unfortunately the N81 and N81 8GB don't have TV Out ability. The N82, N95 and N95 8GB do have it.
