I made a living for over a decade in the Park...hustling hustlers and nailing IM"S and GM's/tourists who think everyone is easy pickings.People often stood in line for hours to pay to play me...it was kewl.Yaacov and I had some good games but we did not want to play for money.Naka came incognito (to most :) ) but we never got to play.People wanted him to play me but it just never happened.I still think he and Magnus are the two best in the world. But be careful when yall playin 4 cash...:) .
@spiritgifted Lol, so funny. You talk as if you would have a shot against Nakamura, let alone Yaacovn. "Be careful when you're playing for cash", lol, yeah, I'll let Nakamura know to watch out for you, LOL..
@myst93 Jellobrain...aka mys193 ...Wanna play?? It's that simple.I told you above and in my personal message to you history events. To you,Naka and the Yak are gods.Nooo...they are just fantastic chess players and wonderful men of achievement. But even such greats as they lose. That is how lower rateds become higher rated ...or stronger OTB blitz.Noah,Yac will continue being legendary.I give them their props at WSP,online, and Sullivan Street. But others have skill too. They would agree. So BACK OFF...
Cornbread is very fun to listen to. It doesn't seem that his opponents are very good, none of them have been able to get him to stop talking. Please post more videos of Cornbread, even the ones he loses. NICE VIDEOS. Cornbread have you ever had an official rating ? If so, what was it ? I would love to play him, win, lose or draw. He reads the board well and makes for great entertainment.
0:26 Lol Cornbread says, "your Queen is displaced" but he meant MISplaced. Displaced simply means the Queen is off its original square. Haha sorry im a grammar fanatic
I've gone to Washington Square Park a few times to play. When I went, the players there would refuse to play me unless it was for money even though I knew how to play. When I would win a game they would whine about losing and then take a long time to pay me. Most of them are losers that just want to make a few bucks from beginner players and are not there to enjoy playing chess.
I don't know anything about the legendary "Cornbread", but just by looking at his position at 0:20 I think he is a very weak player ... any real chessplayer will know what I mean.
@Fupper16 He can still move one of his center pawns forward at any time, looks to me he played the Pirc opening or some variation. And I don't think that a 1600 ranked player would kick his ass judging from his other videos here on YT...... He is at least ranked over a 2000. I am pretty sure he was letting the other guy play to go more money out of him :-)
traveled to new york city and played cornbread. he showed me the queen gambet he was very helpful and eager to teach cant wait to go back and play in washington square again
seriously that looks like so much fun. I've been wanting to go there to play those guys for years. I'd probably get it handed to me but it would still be fun.
I've seen this guy in the park. I stopped briefly and watched for a couple seconds one time. I think he's super good at what he does. But then again if I spent 40 hours a week doing this I think I would be just as good.
I was in NYC last june and took a picture of that guy. I didn't know he was CornBread and was so famous :-) I really wanted to play him but he always busy playing another guy. What is CornBread's real name and surname? Does he have any rating?

I could devote myself utterly to the game, and still only be an average player. Ah, well, its fun on occasion, and we all have our interests.

Something tells me Cornbread ain't like that though. He seems to pretty much play anyone.

This guy is an ass hole, I would destroy him just for talking during a match, saying shit like "your queens out of place"
With a FIDE rating of 2301, I would gladly beat him.
Check me up on Chessfriends. c o m
JasonDragos 2nd place overall.

I think most USCF 1600-rated players could give Cornbread a run for his money. White has a much more comfortable position at 0:20 .
