Are the plans and or software that was used to create this sim available to the public ?

No. The software was created using Lab View and there are no plans to publish it. One of the students is currently working on a version that uses a Wii controller instead of the custom sensors.

That's really to bad. To offer it to the public as an open source project under GPL licensing would help the free flight community as well as give the student credit for the work and would allow other developers to also work on the project to help it evolve.

I hope the students changes their mind, it would be a great loss to see this work shelved away somewhere.
