  • If they ever do a movie on Phyllis. I think that they should have three actresses play here. Queen Latifa, Zoe Saldana, and if Angelina Jolie was black she would play Phyllis lol.

  • She is the best singer who ever opened her mouth and did it

  • we miss you....

  • to SoulLoveReal: i think Toni Braxton could do an excellent job playing her. Both physically & vocally (though no one can actually compare to Phyllis, ) but Toni has a nice husky contralto that could cover Phyllis' range, and the looks aren't far off. Plus she's had acting 'experience' (I refer to Beauty & the Beast or whatever Disney show she did, def NOT this new Braxton reality show (yuchh).

  • In Search of someone like Phyllis Hyman but I haven't found her yet. This is one of Phyllis' best in my opinion when she teamed up with McCoy T. This music has a magic to it that you don't hear anymore, almost as if it's a soundtrack for a movie that's never been produced.Thanx for the Post.

  • "Love is back In Season! Lets rejoice and sing loves praises high.. we'll survive".

I thought I was the only fan of Phyllis Hyman that thought she performed grammy level work on McCoy Tyner's "Looking Out" session. Her lyrics and phrasing on "In Search of My Heart" is just unbelievable prophetic in a sense. Thanks for helping me to REMEMBER...remember

    Peace

  • In my second comment, dang! The "return" feature didn't work. But you all can figure out the song titles, I'm sure.

  • Ooops,,, I meant "Titles for her MOVIE"... not "move"... sorry about that.

  • Titles for her move -- if they make one, that is -- anyone (depending on the perspective of the screenplay, the director, as well as on her career, The Industry, her personaly, songs or lyrics, or mental illness(es)? Riding The Tiger Your Move, My Heart In Search Of My Heart Complete Me Screaming At The Moon Meet Me On The Moon Somewhere In My Lifetime Remember Who You Are Loving You, Losing You This Too Shall Pass Just Another Face In The Crowd ...Anyone else care to add?
  • @SouLoveReal - What actress can play her? And they better synch the vocals because no one sounds like her.

  • @iralevifan Amen!! I have always thought that they must lip synch any actress who got the chance to play her. I don't care how good a singer they are.

  • @DaxShaw - Thank you!! Her unique sound was an essential part of her appeal. It would be ridiculous to overlook that.

  • I remember first hearing this in 1982 and had trouble finding it, BECAUSE it was on McCoy Tyner's album "Looking Out." Of all the times I've seen her in concert (12), she never sang this. However, Tyner would later perform this in concert without a vocalist. (You can find it on YouTube) Just... not... the... same... without Phyllis on vocals, that is. Phyllis Linda Hyman, I love you and ALL of your music.. Rest in peace... Gone too damned soon. I cry when I hear or play this.

  • jill scott reminds me of miss. phyl. her unsung story made me sadlis

  • This is the song, the swan song, the very last song she will be rememberd by, especially by me. I sing this song and I remember Phyllis. I first heard it in spring of 1983 and it grabbed me hard.

  • My favorite of all the songs she graced her voice with!! When I listen to this song it is like having a conversation with her!! I will always remember.....

  • If any of us are overlooked like PH we would suffer from bitterness and put up that wall for (protection) too. And toppling the bipolar issue.

  • but a person can take only so much. I am sure there has been or will be some repenting for her mistreatment. Having read "Strength of a Woman" I don't understand why she was always inviting people out and footing the bill. I only recall a instance maybe two where someone invited her out and footed the bill. And that someone is her young fan and his parents

  • I believe Phyllis Hyman was blackballed to a very large degree. My circle of friends and I loved the few songs of hers played on the radio and I realize now that they played very few of her songs and the ones they did play were rarely played. How - with such a beautiful gift (from GOD) - (her voice) that she wasn't super famous. Perhaps she did sabotage some of her blessings -

  • Love her magical talents so much.

  • We will alway remember you. Ms. Hyman you are sorely missed.

  • Truly one of THE GREATEST SONGS EVER...sang by an angel! RIP Phyllis...we remember!

  • Beautiful!!!

  • I had this album and had a friend tranfer it to CD in the mid 90's, It's on my Blacberry. One of my all time favorites. McCoy and Phyllis? You cant get any better! And your photos are awesome! Simply beautiful production of a magnificently beautiful talent. I miss her daily.

  • Thanks a million!! I had this on tape and have been looking for the audio for 4 years! OMG what vocals, what an album. Thanks again.

  • I miss Phyllis Hyman very much.

With master pianist McCoy Tyner, Stanley Clarke on acoustc bass, and Buddy Williams on drums this is a stellar record.

  • I do 2

    Mr. Chip's in South Carolina

  • this is a song on Mccoy Tyner's album and you cannot find this album . . .

  • Maybe it is better that way the fans that have their album have TRUE treasure I had many of Phyllis's records

    Mr Chip's

  • Lovely! Thank you Mr. Chips.....a True Treasure Indeed!

  • this is such a beautiful song!

  • vocals and instrumentation: FLAWLESS !

  • Some time ago I heard that Spike Lee was suppose to do a movie on Phyllis Hyman's life, of course this was years ago, If anyone was to do a movie, I think that Queen Latifa would be a perfect choice, then again Jill Scott would be a better choice. Either way I would love to see this come to light.

  • my mom sed queen latifa should play her too. but if debbie morgan was taller she would definatly be great as phyllis. she looks kinda like phyllis in the face and she has the acting skills.

  • This just sounds like eternity. I wonder if Dilla knew this song . . .

  • This song really shows Phyllis's vocal versatility, and it grabs you emotionally. I'm a singer as well and I want to be able to have that magic and talent to move millions. Phyllis is a true inspiration. RIP

  • this song is so meaningful it touches you so deep!
