I've found a few ways to keep it under control, but only for a while. I say I do it the worst when I'm sick or when I'm eating. People always assume I either really love or really hate my food, lol :D

I don't have Tourette's, but I was thinking, watching her, that she might be able to get around having to explain Tourette's to people if she just told them that she had a pain in her jaw. Sometimes I get the urge to yell for no reason, especially in an organized, structured event such as a classroom lecture or if I'm listening to a church sermon. Sometimes the urge is so strong, I have to leave, but I can hold it in. It's very nervewracking, because sometimes I feel like I'm not going to be able to hold it in.
I've never told anyone about it, because the trigger is so specific, I can generally avoid situations with it.
Ive got tix. had plenty that have come and gone thought out the years. i had maybe 5-7 when I was around 8 years. changed to different ones now and then

Hey kid, keep strong with all this. The docs are getting real clever and a solution might be under a decade away (so dont believe a doc if they say it'll never be fixed). Some of your tics are very similar to my brothers that he had at your age. You'll get much better at controlling it as you get older. Can I suggest you let everyone know. Seriously. Once people stop spinning out on it, they'll get over it, and you'll feel a lot less nervous about it. Talk to a counsellor about it. Grits!
Hey I was diagnosed with tourette's when I was 7. Just an encouragement for your sister. It goes away after a lot of consintration. Well either that or a lot of meds. It took me 13 years to get over it but I never tried so Tell your sister it may be a thing for life but your body gets use to it and adjusts to certain reactions. Good luck

i have some sort of seizure disorder and i have been to 3 neurologists and they dont know whats wrong but i know what you mean about your " tics " only mine i can hold in for sometimes a couple hours and sometimes ill have a seizure and sometimes the " tic " will pass. do they have medication to stop the tics or at least make them less often?

It seems u do not hav severe tourettes. i dont have it either i hav like nervous tics or something but i blink a lot and roll my eyes and sniff. Tourettes its self is pemanent but wat i have is not it may go away and if u have the same thing then it should correct me if im wrong

This is the hard part, I think youga can help. As far as I know youga is about clearing you mind. similar to forget or expel a thought. And stay away from pc-games and try to sort out problems.if there is any.

Sometimes I get the urge to yell for no reason, especially in an organized, structured event such as a classroom lecture or if I'm listening to a church sermon. Sometimes the urge is so strong, I have to leave, but I can hold it in. It's very nervewracking, because sometimes I feel like I'm not going to be able to hold it in.
I've never told anyone about it, because the trigger is so specific, I can generally avoid situations with it.

Ive got tix. had plenty that have come and gone thought out the years. i had maybe 5-7 when I was around 8 years. changed to different ones now and then
Now, its like 3 or so.
Ive also got the mouth tick
I feel its intense when u are stressed. It helps to keep your mind calm.. if that makes sence ;P
Also when u make it, IT MAKES ME WANT TO DO IT!! Close eyes, Open mouth. Shake head.

Very nice job explaining it! :D this is definately one of the better tourettes videos out there. I don't have tourettes but I am very interested in it, so this video helped me a lot. Hey, thanks for sharing your own story, as well as providing information on Tourettes. You seem comfortable within yourself, which is admirable - there's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, and by talking about it, you're showing other people with Tourettes that they too needn't be ashamed or embarassed by their condition. It's a medical disorder, but it most certainly does NOT define who you are. You seem to be really grounded and have a great attitude towards it. Cool ;-)

My 5 year old boy has Tourette's. He has the same tic with his eye's PLUS many more. I am curious how your vision is and reading? Is it hard. He can't really tell me but he does tell me his eye's get tired. He also has vocal tics and motor tics that send his arm moving ALL the time.
Don't worry what some "uneducated and healthy" people say about you faking it - I can tell just buy watching that you are very giving young lady trying to teach people about your life and Tourettes.

Hey kid, keep strong with all this. The docs are getting real clever and a solution might be under a decade away (so dont believe a doc if they say it'll never be fixed). Some of your tics are very similar to my brothers that he had at your age. You'll get much better at controlling it as you get older. Can I suggest you let everyone know. Seriously. Once people stop spinning out on it, they'll get over it, and you'll feel a lot less nervous about it. Talk to a counsellor about it. Grits!

Hey I was diagnosed with tourette's when I was 7. Just an encouragement for your sister. It goes away after a lot of consintration. Well either that or a lot of meds. It took me 13 years to get over it but I never tried so Tell your sister it may be a thing for life but your body gets use to it and adjusts to certain reactions. Good luck

i have some sort of seizure disorder and i have been to 3 neurologists and they dont know whats wrong but i know what you mean about your " tics " only mine i can hold in for sometimes a couple hours and sometimes ill have a seizure and sometimes the " tic " will pass. do they have medication to stop the tics or at least make them less often?

I have Tourettes too... but it sometimes changed ya know? like... Mine areint as bad as they used to be but I shake my head randomly =/ it gets anyyoing as hell but ive gotten used to it but yea do you take meds? I take Clonadine for my tics it helps alottt btw im 18 idk how old you are but my tourrttes are much improved and getting better
