When using the press, I put a piece of thick clear lexan between myself and the propellant slug. I also had the controls behind a wall enforced with steel plate about 20' away. Distance and barriers are all that can keep you safe in an explosion. Wear eye and ear protection, too! Even a small amount of propellant is dangerous!! Also, keep in mind that this is probably illegal. What I was doing was actually for the propellant chemical plant that I work for, so my legal butt was covered.

that burn was pretty long for that size motor, look for some other videos on youtube about iron oxide (it can make it burn twice as fast)

yup, ignitor would be a better idea. most hobby stores sell them or you can make them and also the controller (12v battery)
