With the old rules, if you were exactly $100 away, you did NOT win both showcases. However, now the rule is specifically "$250 or less", so she wins both.

I wondered if anyone was exactly $250 away. If she was 1 more dollar away at $251 then she would NOT have won both showcases. Wow how close can you get?

@tommy76tx Under the original DSW rules, you had to be "less than $100 away" to win both showcases. I saw a woman who was $100 away. She didn't win both showcases because $100 is not less than $100.

My question is, what would happen if both contestants were exactly the same amount away from the actual price of their showcases. Regardless if it was a double showcase win or not.

I think this happened only once and it was not with the double showcase rule. Both contestants won their own showcase.

If it happened today, I would guess that the same thing would happen- both contestants win their own showcase whether within the $250 range or not.

That was cutting it too close.  $250 is the limit now, she would have only won her own showcase is it had been 1998 when the limit was $100 :-P

Actually, if it was in 1998 and the difference was exactly $100, she would've still won her own showcase. Prior to the rule change, you could only win both showcases if the difference was less than $100.

I remember this episode it was from like February 2005...that lady won a car playing "One Away," then TWO chryslers (a Sebring convertible and a 300 i think) in her showcase, and then the other girl's showcase.
