  • Hunger and weakness are no bar to vengeance’s call. I would find my slayers and send them back whence I came.

Their sneering faces were forever etched upon my memory. I had crossed death for this moment. My mind was empty save for one thought: I would kill.

  • Kain reminds me of Vegeta.

  • @AnotherMe21 i dont get it. why does the necro guy have the same voice as the elder god and why did he transform kain into a vampire when he's with the sarafan?

  • @cjjtheone

    1) There is no in-game reason for the same actor having both these roles. The necromancer is played by someone else in Defiance to avoid this confusion.

    2) It's fully explained in Defiance.

  • Vae Victus...suffering to the conquered.

  • @HittokiriBattousai17 vae victis

  • @livedrainer9 Actually is Victus... Victis is mispelled.

  • I wonder.... Where is Kain now? Hell?

  • If only Kain could take revenge on the games of today

  • This looks really impressive for it's time!

  • This intro used to scare me when I was younger

  • Kain does sound like Victor from underworld

  • And so the sweet heart becomes the heart of darkness.

  • Such dramatic narration. One of my favourite video games!

  • "I didn't care if I was in heaven or hell..."

ah, its a bit obvious where you are you douche...

  • @stardingo747 he knows where he is, he just doesn't care, douche

  • this is more gothic and more evil and satanic than diablo 1 i wish diablo 3 was like this... :(

  • I do, and I also think that pink dinosaurs are real and have an army of zombie spidermonkies.

  • "You will have the blood you hunger for...."

God, I have never heard an actor deliver "bad guy" lines so deliciously ominously.

  • I am playing this on my ps3 (Ps1 classic) and it's awesome!

    This game is truly timeless.

  • "THey dont make games this good or this well written"?Well why dont you play GOD OF WAR or newer LEGACY OF KAIN games and you will see what is "well written"

  • the dialogue in this series is brilliant.

  • The graphics where incredible for the time.

  • I LOVED this game mainly because the story was so epic, its interesting to note that both Raziel and Kain were motivated by vengeance and were resurected as supernatural creatures to take revenge in their own ways VAE VICTUS.

  • Awesome game, just recently bought it. Was 11years since I last played it but it's still gr8!

  • back when games were good

even for its day the graphics are good and amazing when it first came out

too bad they dont make games this good or this well written anymore

  • Even to this day this is my favourite fmv ever, what a quality writen game!

  • Of course the graphics are old... The game is probably from before you were born!

  • This games awesome it was one of the first games out for the ps1 so the graphics arent going to be perfect but they werent bad anyway! But the plot and the gameplay were well better than the other kain games i think!

  • I wouldn't mind being a vampire, they kick ass, lol.

  • This is exactly how I feel like now, that's me on September 28th 2007 when I lost my one true love and she's pregnant to another guy. I'm just like this scenario now, lost everything.

  • so now i guess this is the part when you become a vampire and take revenge?

  • lol!

  • I wish mate, the only person I'd get revenge on is the "father" who stole all chances of me ever being a father myself, Rachael was all I had. There's no compassion left, this is a nightmare come to life. The way I'm feeling now, I would love to become a vampire or a dark lord of the sith, sorry, I've drank half a bottle of scotch, have compassion anyone else.

  • Hey look man, don't worry about it, just move on. I'm sure you loved her very much, but you need to get over this somehow. But it's good you like you this game, cool aint it.

  • Actually you can take revenge on the "father" and your "true love", but why you dont tall us, if you was together ?, if so, it was betrayal!. only the one who lose everything, can truely embrace the Dark Side. now you can see the truth, ignore your weakling feeling, and use your hatred, let the hate flow through you. let no one hurt you like this any more, and hurt back these who dare. good luck with you new identity korro7, or you can always follow babaraku weakling words. make your decision.

  • train muay thai, kick boxing or western boxing and go to the fitnessstudio and i swear she will come back and than you are strong enough to beat up her boyfriend ;)

  • That's awesome advice dude :), but she's was with this loser, she doesn't know who he is and he better hope he remains annonymous too, lol

  • I mean she was never with this loser**, made an error there, lol. He just took away my chances of having a child with her as it's his child she's carrying. But yeah since I wrote the first comment, things are abit better, I'm starting to see someone else so yeah :).

  • ohh okay i see. your last comment was 3 month away XD. hehe if it is now better in your life than congrantulation ;)

but i know it is hard to lose someone which you love =(

good luck on your way ;)

  • I read all your comments, good on you getting your life back on track. Its funny when people's lifes a shitty we resort to playing video games lol.

  • lol, that's very true mate. Now it's even better as I'm now engaged to someone even more wonderful :).

  • So who killed kain to start this whole thing?

Also, why was kain choosen to become a Vamp?

  • if you look online you can find the chronicles 'dark chronicles' from soul reaver 2

the whole time line and story so far 'not defiance' is explained there.

as for why he chose to be a vampire - it was so he could get revenge

  • Kain's death was ordered by Mortanius, as he needed a fully defiled vampire to continue unbalancing Nosgoth in order to gain power. By "fully defiled" I mean, most vampires are created by another vampire, the draining of the blood, and then being made to drink the vampire's own blood, however the Necromancer Mortanius was able to turn Kain into a vampire using magic, owing to Kain's black hearted soul. All Mortanius did, was bring out the evil that was already IN Kain.

  • If a soul is evil enough, it was believed in Romania, a man would resurrect as a vampire. Mortanius merely sped up the process; vampires that are "self created," become more powerful more quickly, that is why Kain was able to take on older vampires and as he got older, become so powerful, as a Nobleman, he was basically pure evil. The popularity of the series, is the twist that you actually play the bad guy.

  • i dont mean to be a prick but ur wrong on all of that. Mortanius ressurected kain so he could SAVE Nosgoth. Vampires in Nosgoth are made by retrieving the soul from the Abyss and transplanting it back in the body with a bit of the Vampires own soul. Kain was supposed to kill off all the pillar guardans and save them from the corruption Nupraptor tainted the guardians with by allowing new ones to be born. He had to use the heart of darkness, as kains nature as the scion of balance made him...

  • ah, I played the game back when it was new; Mortanius was a bad guy dude, his intention was to destroy Nosgoth. Also the reason Kain is so powerful despite his young age as a vampire, again it had to do with him being a "pure" vampire, that is, one that was "born" through necromancy rather than being turned. Dude, I beat the game and everything; I saw the ending, whether to save Nosgoth or not was never Mortanius' intention it was Kain's choice.

  • harder to resurrect. Kain originally was evil, just angry cause oh he just got stabbed in the back by a longsword. Look at Soul Reaver 1, 2 and defiance. All kain is trying to do is SAVE nosgoth due to his refusal of the sacrifice. He was "bad" cause Nuprapptor cursed all the pillar guardians with madness. Most of them escaped this, kain didnt. over time it wore off, shown in the gap between BO2 and SR1. And this, "taking on older vampires?" If your referring to BO2 Kain was much older then...

  • them. The only "older" Vampire he fought and killed was vorador which is implied to have happened between BO2 and SR1. and alluded to when Umah says that Kain would kill off the Cabal. Check your sources dude. again, not tryin to be a dick or anything.

  • I also saw the ending for the last game in this series. In the end, Kain chose to save Nosgoth.

also, there were a lot more older vampires than just Vorador; Vorador just happened to be one of the most powerful.

  • if your referring to Janos Audron and teh other anciencts, kain never battled any of them. also Mortanius never wanted nosgoth destroyed. he was reluctant for his actions against the original vampire race and tried to repent by saving nosgoth through kain. he resisted kain at the end only due to his posession by hash'ah'gik. to quote mortanius referring to kains ressurection "This deed will redeem first me then all of nosgoth" pay more attention to the source material.

  • dude, fuck you; you are so wrong its not even fucking funny man, given the youtube footage available.

  • dear putz, you once more are forgetting that the entirety of Mortanius' "Evil" actions were actually Hash'ak'gik, the sarafan lord, possesssing him. For evidence watch the footage from Defiance called "Raziel meets Mortanius in avernus Cathedral" I can back uip everything I say with footage. I have been playing LoK since it came out. I am merely hoping to educate you so that you might better understand the story ans see the beauty in it. If you would like a civil conversation on the series I am

  • more then happy to oblige.

  • @stardingo747 most footage of mortanius show him under the possion of the hylden watch what alonso6300 said.......mortanius tell raziel that him and mobius where wrong to overthrow the ancient vampires and says that kain would set things right and put the pillars under vampires again

  • whatever.

  • @stardingo747 Mortanius wasn't evil, he was possessed

  • @livedrainer9

Well, it's true that he isn't guilty of many of the things he appeared to have done, but this is still Legacy of Kain, "not evil" shouldn't be the default assumption:P

  • you shouldnt untie the two

  • So would you take Mortanius' offer?

  • With nothing to lose, yes I would

  • in a second.

  • Definitely. nothing to lose.

  • With his powers and the voice of Tony Jay? Yeh, I'm sold.

  • first time i played it on a demo.. this was the scene that captured me.. got all the 5 games with kain.. and you always comes back to them specially nr 2 and the last one.. revenge is never free.. served best cold..

  • Actually in hindsight.... Upon listening to kains' speech in this clip he does indeed say "Vae" not "Fae"... My bad!

  • FAE VICTUS!!!!

"Fae Victus, taken from the Latin "Vae Victis", translates to "Woe to the conquered" "

  • The story and dialogue/VA is amazing, but something often overlooked (at least with this game) is the music. It's ambient, distant and provoking. I sat here (a wee little drunk, I must confess), closed my eyes and listened to the music and dialogue. It's pure bliss.

  • Yes... the dialogues on this games are GREAT... and the voices of course, make them even better!

  • The dialogue in this game is just great.

  • don't you think that kain in lok 1 has the best voice from all his appearances. My second best voice is Caleb from Blood series, and then Shao Kahn from MK.

  • mmm, the correct form is victis, not victus ¬¬

  • LOVED ALL OF THESE GAMES!

  • Yesss... one of the iconical games of the PSX...

    Vae Victus!

  • nothing is free... not even revenge

  • I haven't played this series in awhile. But I have a question. Why does kain look all white in this game, and all ugly in LoK: Defiance?

  • becasue defiance is over 3000 years later. so his body started to decay and deform.

  • No..

Vamp's evolve over time, not decay.

What happened was Kain became more bestial than a human. He's still nice n fresh tho..no decay.

  • thats wat i ment. yah forget the decay he just evolved mutated over time :)

  • I love the original Blood Omen. It's like a prelude to everything that happens in the games but there's so many hints to the real storyline of the series. It's amazing.

  • That voice over there sounded like the elder god in Soul Reaver.... o.O

  • Mortanius's voice in BO1 was done by Tony Jay, who did the Elder God in SR / SR2 / Defiance - might be why. ;) He's the one saying "You will have the blood you hunger for!" at the end of the clip.

  • poor kain he used to be a normal person once.

  • lol, yeah but then when you think about the Sarafan Priests...Kain was pretty darn lucky lol

  • but then again whats the fun in a normal life^^

  • I'm sure we've all learned from Kain in this one..If you wake up in hell and a strange necromancer offers you revenge, for the love all that is Unholy, take him up on his offer...

  • didn't they use janos dark heart to create him?

  • yeah, thats why vorador couldnt find it

  • so it begins...

  • Poor Kain ;.;
