  • Red Head Gear: when your slipping punchs keep your guard up

Blue Head Gear: when he starts ducking in forward after you throw a hook bring an uppercut with the opposite hand, throw some feint punches too.

Good job to both of you

  • Little guys tough as hell.

  • shouldn't they tuck elbows in? the black kid has his up there

  • @kushlion Yep. That wasn't my kid.. That was the dude in the ring's son. Lil guy was mine. This is 6 years old now and that gym is silent for the time being. The ams is dead.

  • Rocky Marciano was smaller than Ali and look what happen....

  • Nothing wrong with it, size does not matter to them because they are still young and learning. And sparring is part of training

  • Yo they area mini verson of Sugar Ray Robison and Jake LaMotta

  • i don't see anything wrong with this. It's light sparing, technical and good coaching.

  • Putting a black tall kid with a short white thats just F up

  • @WhiteFangOfTheLeaf Why is that? I'm the white kids coach and I'm white. That is the other kids dad in my ring in this 5 year old video. I had 16oz gloves on him and was holding him back. You can't see who's who when I turn him loose? Watch it. Everybody sparred with everybody in my gym or just stay home and play video games or something. God forbid I posted my fighters sparring with each other. ACLU would come get me. LOL!

  • @WhiteFangOfTheLeaf seems fair to me.

  • @WhiteFangOfTheLeaf ignorance. in order to be a complete fighter you need to be tested against all types - taller, shorter, a little heavier - what ever. that's how you learn to fight under any and all conditions.

  • @WhiteFangOfTheLeaf i know! the black kid might get hurt!

  • these kids are lucky as hell! they get to spar with a lot of people their size and weight! i'm 15 years old 5'0"(don't laugh) 107lbs.(don't laugh) and stuck at my gym sparring with hell adults and shit! i don't recall getting the opportunity to face legit boxers near my size or weight. i want to join amateur boxing so to get ready i ask them not to go easy(and their tall!) i used to always get knocked out by body shots. but now i'm used to giant opponents. my handspeed and power is surfacing.

  • why use headgear :) ?

  • @K1BIGGESTFAN 1) they were 14 years old amateurs licensed with USA Boxing so to avoid liability in my gym I demand it. Lawyers love ignorant people! 2) Although the actual brain shake is just about as much as without headgear, it does help fighters avoid swelling, cuts, etc,. Most injuries in combat sports occur in training, not the actual bouts. It is as elementary as protecting your hands with wraps.

  • @HvyWeight 1) as much safety - FIRST, ALWAYS. 2) Headgear is required in amateur bouts and you had better be able to fight in it. If you think you can spar wtihout it then enter a match and fight with it ON, and be okay with it you're sadly mistaken. The purpose of sparring is to simulate a fight as much as possible (less unnecessary injury). I'll even do an entire training session with my mouthguard from jump rope, bag, pads, sparring to cool down.

  • @RKGOLF My guys have their mouthpiece in when they go though the gym door and take it out weigh they weight out. Nobody spars in my ring w/o headgear. I have 2 dozen sparring, comp/AIBA headgear for this reason. I recently watched my first ring death of a kid I watched grow up. I was sitting with his family ringside. Pancho was a good kid, 3x National Champ Mexican American southpaw heavy with power. KO'd everybody at J.O.'s and GG's. It still haunts me, I was out a while other than Jones/Lacy..

  • The kid in the blue looks wicked!

  • @BIGGT110 Thanks, he was pretty slick but pro style don't work in ams anymore and I don't know any other way. He's in college, but may try next level one day soon.. He finally grew lol. About Pac size now.

  • both of those kids got it down, they keep this up they can both be great boxers, and famous.....

  • THis is very good i want to be boxer im eighteen where you located?

    TEACH ME IM WILLING!!!!

  • @jimmyjohnson691 - I am in Mississippi not too far from the Coast. I'm not in the amateurs anymore however. This video is 5 years old. Where you at?

  • the white one is tremendous

  • nice boxing!! lilo blue need to step in more,,, his counter could of hit.

  • @roller8 The kid in red was trained by his dad who was playing ref/coach. Lilo blue, or as I call him Tyler, was holding back until the end really. He hasn't boxed in years now. Shame, but can't make anyone do anything. Gotta WANT it in boxing.

  • those kids box better than me ahhahaha

  • they both good! the white boy look like he has better training good head movment and footwork

  • man u guys are gooood

  • good spar!!! The kid in blue can slip very well, would be nice if he follow up those beautiful slips with a counter.

  • there pretty good

  • dude in blue is so cool , great style

    will defently get better :)

  • you can tell at 0:52 the "ref" was telling the guy in the red to back off haha :P

Anyway, the dude in the blue is pretty good. more head movement and he wouldn't be taking as many shots.

  • Ref was a former pro I was with some years. He was coaching his son, but my lil guy didn't care because he heard him too. I was holding my kid back and even had gloves 4oz. bigger on him. The other kid needed to learn how to fight inside is why you saw lil man light up.

  • Yeah, he was using his reach a lot.. Which is good. haha I heard him say " lets fight on the inside". I imagine in a real fight he would just be staying away and maneuvering with that jab. The guy in the blue works much better on the inside ;)

  • You'll hear me ask Tyler to get on the inside from the corner where HE should have been just before he says it. He was gonna make him fight regardless. I like Tye, but he always knew these boys were always in great shape and sparred a lot. I hated holding Tyler back, but we needed rounds. My boys beat spar with each other all the time and needed looks..Tye got pretty good not long after this. He pitches at a 6A school now and basketball. Good kid. His dad and 2 cousins I had were talented too.

  • Haha...Tyler dipped and ate a 1-2-3 actually and I was like get inside, get inside, get inside. I haven't watched that in months! How you like that under-over from the runt?

  • the guy in the blue trucks was pretty good. he had a great reflex and he is pretty good with his jab

  • wow that little guy is handeling the reach pretty well. nice!

  • bravissimi

  • pretty good sparring

  • wow im impressed!

  • Wow, These kids are amazing. Their technique is really good. I wish i had done something like that at their age.

  • damn dude youve got a couple of future pros, ive been boxing since i was 8 i dont know how old they are... but i know i wasnt that good if there 10 or something.

  • They might be, but they don't box anymore. Too busy having fun. They'll wait until too late as always to realize what they wasted. I've seen it too many times.

  • you are making those kids good boxers ;)

They are Good for their age ;)

Just some more movement i think .

im learning it aswell , 1.5 more months and i'l go in gym , first i'l get in shape , rope skipping, running and push ups at home first ;)

  • so are you in the gym now?

  • have you ever sparred or competed with out the headgear? Do you prefer fighting with or without the shirt? Just curious....

  • I prefer headgear, but that's mostly because of cuts, swelling, etc,. You get the same brain shake either way and when headgear gets wet, it can be heavy. I personally don't like shirts, but it would depend on the ring ropes.

  • yes very true you do train up very well wheres your gym at, wouldnt mind a visit you have a bunch of very good fighters

  • Mississippi, not far from Gulf Coast.

  • You seem to teach your kids very well. I wouldn't mind checking out your gym, but I don't believe I live near you

  • Thanks. Get the basics and the natural stuff will come on it's own. Where you at?

  • people come and go in this sport. even if they have the talent they don't stick with it. boxing takes a lot of mental strength as well as physical. if your heart isnt there you aint going very far. My heart is in this sport, im dedicated and want to reach the top.

  • 90% mental I believe. These days, it's more go for me. The amateur scoring system ran off many, but I'm hard. I don't like standing around talking in the gym. Hit it or quit it, just don't waste my time. It's full of equipment so there's ALWAYS something to do. No excuses. People that are good at making them won't get better at anything else. I've had kids with 6 fights go in with a kid with 160 and more than hang, but it's because they train hard. Keep that mind set aaron, you have it right.

  • ohh ok thx for letn me kno that....i might spend some money on boxing lessons so i can hopefully get in some matches

  • hey, sense you seen that kind of stuff...i fought a kid who had 136 fights under his belt and alot of trophies... they put me to spar with em and he...well lets face it won hands down. but i hit em a couple good time and never quit...didnt do any real damage to him but still, think i did ok? im kinda disapointed even tho he had so many fights i dont like to lose lol

  • You're not going to win them all in the amateurs. With the new scoring, I only view it as experience. Fighting a guy with over 100 fights is a better learning experience than fighting a kid with less than 5.

  • LOL me to....my name is willis payne jr... remember that cuz im in boxing and im going to the tip of the top and not going to look down remember that name cuz youll be betting with ur friends on me in the future!!!!

  • hey i got a question do u get brain damage easily by boxing or does it take a few years to get really messed up on the brain

  • It depends. With a good defense it's not as likely to happen. Guys that take punches a lot would be quicker to get injuries. The human body isn't meant to take head blows just as the hands aren't designed to hit hard objects. I just saw a kid I knew since he was 10 die after his 2nd pro fight so this is touchy with me right now. Actually there are more head and neck injuries in football than boxing and mma combined each year. I love football so don't get me wrong. You don't play boxing though.

  • ohh ok thanks i was just asking cause im going to start boxing after summer cause i like fightin alot... and street fightin got me in some trouble so i tought about it so im going to start boxing or do mma.. and im working on to get back in shape right now my weight is 290 im goin to have to drop down some... =(

  • the lil kid in the blue shorts is really good. hes got good power and can dodge very well if hes still fighting now he must be amazing

  • He's way bigger and better now, but too busy hangin out with friends, running the roads. Heart has to be in it. His isn't.

  • these are some tough ass kids

  • Hey Hvyweight, I was wondering if the kid in the red eventually got better?

I was assuming it was his first time in the ring when I watched him spar sammy, that's a hellava intro to the sport.

  • Tye did get better, but he's got really good at basketball and always was good in baseball. He had about 10 fights in this. He was scared of Sammie for good reason. That's the hardest puncher I ever had p4p in the gym, pro included, was the last time they ever sparred right here. Sammie went on and scored a bunch of TD'S like a mini Barry Sanders and didn't come back. Honestly, he didn't have a real mean streak it takes like his brother Flea had. Shy Sammie back flipped on some wins. Good kid.

  • Very nice

  • Holy shit these little guys are good! The blue one me likey. Nice techniques, nice left hands.

  • dat guy looks tiny small hatton

  • Haha. I've heard that before. He has more defense than Ricky, but I wish he was aggressive like him with this amateur scoring system. Cuts the ring life expectancy down though.

  • BTW - He's not boxing anymore, but now he is close to Hatton's size at 140.

  • how did they not get nose bleeds those punches where hard

  • Not sure. My kid had on 14oz. sparring gloves that helps the other kid and good headgear that helps him. I haven't seen many nose bleeds to be honest.

  • in the end the kid in the blue had a really nice 2 hit counter.

  • He was probably frustrated with me holding him back and he knows that timer well enough to get that in.

  • How heavy are these kids and also how old?

  • In 2005, my kid Tyler was 4'11" 95lbs. Tye was about 5'4" 119. They were both 14 years old and yes they both grew LOL!

  • It depends on how long a career you intend on having. Headgear don't stop any brain shake really, but it helps from getting swelling and cuts, which you can't fight with in most cases.

  • Hey, this guys are pretty good, love the little guy, Is he still training and fighting?

  • No, the little guy has been out a year now. He grew a good bit since this video 4 years ago. I hope he joins the military.

  • the kid in the blue is good

  • Yes he WAS good.

  • what do you mean he was? he doesnt box anymore?

  • No. Hasn't been in the gym for nearly a year now. A real waste of talent. Sore subject.

  • damn he realy needs to get back in there he can go far with that talent

  • ye he looked really good there, alot of talent

  • Coach thanks for the tips i will try to work on everything u have told me thanks a lot. The Tyler vs Mike video and i dont know if Tyler lost but he was down because he wouldnt go in right he stayed in his comfort zone.

  • Watch close and see if Mike landed 20 clean punches that round. Not sure which round you have, but no way he landed white knuckles to the point areas that much on T. One judge had Tyler winning by 4, another Mike by 8, the last Mike by like 43-20. That is rogue. Everybody including Mike's coach thought Tyler won, but it was their gym and Mike's had close to 100 fights since Tyler was out over 2 years and Tyler hasn't fought since. The judging in the amateurs isn't good at all. Prepare yourself!

  • Hey coach i got beat today again. I really need help on how to get inside to hit.

  • I was kind of scared to get out my comfort zone to hit him. I was thinking to much in the ring and i didnt throw a lot of punches. Even thou i got hit i was kind of scared to throw punches cause i can see he was waiting to counter. Can u help me or give tips coach on the things above and what to do next time. Thanks.

  • Sounds like you know what you need to do. Start hitting the openings you are seeing. If you can get tunnel vision on their chest using the jab it'll help. A good jab can throw of an experienced boxer long enough to set something else up. I

  • Hey coach i got beat up today but everyone told me i did good for my first time. They put me to spar with someone good thats been there for about 1 or 2 years. Ive only been there for a month.

  • Fun huh? It gets better each time. Keep it up!

  • these kids fight really well for their age. impressive.

  • I think they did okay. Shame they didn't stick with it though.

  • Thanks for the tips coach.

  • My pleasure. Just go in there with the minset of working on what you've learned so far. Make sure you a running hard though so you can go the rounds.

  • Hey coach I have a question. Can u give me any tips before i get in the ring to sparr? For example not to get mad when i get hit etc.

  • Relax. You'll burn yourself out before it starts. Sparring is a time to think and learn so to get the most out of it you have to pace yourself. Closer to fight time crank it up a bit. One other thing, focus on the other guys chest instead of the eyes and hands. You'll see more.

  • that kid in the blue needs to work on keeping his hands up, in this video, im sure u awready got on him for that?

  • This was nearly 3 years ago and yes I fussed for years. Hasn't boxed in a while. Since February. He will always do a few things I didn't teach him. Even if it works, it isn't me. Coming up in the ring with much older and bigger guys combined with hand scoring on 20 point system has a lot to do with it. He can mimic Tyson pretty good, but tries to be more like RJ. LOL! My nephew is the only one that KEPT his hands up good when he was fighting.

  • o... well im just sayin, i just started bxoing so im no where to tell u.. but u should keep him at it.. hhe could probably make it..

  • No, you are right about the hands. Glad you realize it and hope you remember it a you progress. It's up to him if he fights again.

  • well he should keep at it.. and thanks..

  • Yes he should.

  • hey check out my video and tell me wat u think..

  • I will.

  • Do u have any more videos of ur son if so where can i find them.

  • He's not my son although it has felt that way at times. I've been coaching him since he was 11. There are a few more clips on my profile.

  • Do u also coach. I need a favor i have a weak left hand what can i work on to improve power in my arm for my jab.Every time i hit the bag i dint get that popping sound.

  • Yeah, that's my gym. You can strengthen deltoids and triceps to increase the speed of the jab. I wouldn't throw it hard all the time, but there is a place for a power jab. Unfortunately, in amateur boxing it doesn't score points so many just don't use it.

  • The black kid has no waist movement he just stands straight up. So how old is ur kid Hes the one in the blue trunks right?

  • I like Tye. He was intimidated because he knew my kids were always in great shape. Knew two of them were heavy handed as well. Tye really did get better with a few more fights though. My kid Tyler in the blue trunks is 17 now and a Feather-lightweight. He hasn't fought in several months, but I hope he comes back whe his transportation is straightened out. He's a naturally talented lil guy, but not much opposition as an open fighter. Hard to get work in.

  • why is he only coaching the black kid wouldnt blame him he needs the work.

  • That's his dad a former amateur and pro that came to my gym to spar. I don't like coaching in the ring either which is why I turned Tyler loose at the end. I stay in the corner. Funny thing though, my kids all say it didn't bother them because they knew what expect. LOL! We had on 14oz. sparring gloves so no harm done

  • The black kid sucks. U can tell the kid with the blue trunks is way better and he was holding back.

  • I like Tye. He actually got better after this was shot. He's a good baseball player. Not really mean enough for boxing IMO. Yeah, you caught me. I have to hold them back at times until I get rattled.

  • great i enjoyed that wonderful d, hes a natural and you can tell the work hes put in

  • the black kid looks exactly like me

  • da little one tyler has good d i have seen that on micky ward and hatton its dat bob and weave dats good he does he wasn't even blocking just doging really impressive. he must watch alot of footage

  • Not really. He just sparred a lot.

  • how tall are they

  • Tye was about 5'6" 119. My kid Tyler was 4'11" 98lbs. on this old clip. He's more like 5'6" 125 now.

  • which one iz the kid we are talking about

  • Little guy.

  • He's watched everybody from Robinson to Jones Jr. on tape. He can mimic Tyson and Jones pretty good. Smart kid. Working with a tall rangey kid called for the peek-a-boo so he kinda threw it in that day.

  • how much does he wiegh?

  • 98 pounds then. About 125 now.

  • good sparring how old r they?

  • 14 then. My kid is 17 now.

  • they dont look like theyre 14...at all.

i was thinkin they were maybe 12 or 11

  • Ha. Yeah, they were small kids, but size doesn't matter a lot in boxing thank goodness. I was already 6' at that age. They've finally grown some though.

  • so did i

  • id like to see these two go in a real match, but good sparring

  • Me too, but it'll never happen. In 10oz. gloves it might get brutal. Tyler has heavy hands now. The other kid is playing ball.

  • your kid has a style similar to the peek-a-bo. Has been watching mike tyson vids#?

  • anyone know how to get started at the freeport pal gym?

  • Very nice work. Good coaching too.

  • keep it up kid ull b knockin out foos left an right

  • the little white fella is really good.he should keep it up .how old those kids

  • 14 on this clip. He is 17 now and making a comeback after a layoff due to an ignorant dentist.

  • boy in the blue shorts was dippin the shit out them punches

  • the white bul gotta nice lil left hook

  • This is only a clip of SPARRING. Training. They aren't going all out. Just getting a bunch of rounds in. If it bores you, go watch something else like a clip of Hagler-Hearns. ;-)

  • I understand it a clip only of SPARRING, training, but like myself the 2 boy's are being nurtured to be boxers, punching and getting punched is the game wether amateur or professional 11, 14, or 25 years of age.

  • holy crap these kids scrap hard.

  • some good stuff, how old is this kid

  • Tyler was 14 too. He still trains some and finally got taller. He is a natural, very smart. Like a lil' coach with gloves on. Sometimes too flashy for my liking, but most times it works. His style doesn't suit the amateur scoring either, but that is my fault. He will be back between now an 08' since the dentist won't sign the braces release. His brother's good too. I'll be uploading more.

  • Damn..he got braces too i hate those policy with the braces. Im boxing at Freeport PAL trying to turn pro maybe we both might have to fight each other at the pros if we mk it there ;)
