I would reall appreciate a remix as someone who more or less mains Remy, and also thinks that the balance of this game really does legitimately call into question the legitimacy of wins in certain matchups. I have played fighting games less than a year, and just for fun I went in with some bnb Yun custom combos and won a few games. Now, I don't think anyone who's good needs to get nerfed, but the low tier characters could really use some buffs.
Hey Max, why can't 3rd strike OE be purchased on PSN store? A fair number of people have been unable to purchase the full game. The trial is available, but when you go to unlock the trial to access the full game, the PSN store says this item is currently unavailable. I really have the urge to pick up 3rd Strike and pick up Urien, but PSN Store won't allow us.
@younglink615 I use her only if I know the match up well enough, because going up someone who knows their character very well and has good execution is very tough for me. Other wise, i play ryu. lol

@younglink615 I'm fairly new too, so idk what to say. Depends on your play style. I like ibuki for her complicated combos and being unorthodox and playing ryu for his good balance of offense and defense. Play around with different characters and you'll find someone that fits your play style.
And "we" here being the 95% that uses shotos? Seriously, what is it with you guys and using the easy button? There's tons of other characters to choose from, and you pick those scrubs over and over again? No sportsmanship at all.
Using a shoto doesn't always equal winning, I'll give you that, I was frustrated when posting that. However, shotos seem to require much less as far as execution and strategy then other characters. As far as I've played, Chun and Ibuki do still require a good bit of effort to be used effectively. Just gets old getting Goh Hadoken'd to death while trying to move in on an akuma etc etc. Well, that and it seems like everyone playing the Online Edition has been playing forever.
hey max i was wondering how you do that double dp with ken? i can do it with two jab ones in the corner, but i can't even begin to low forward into one then another (and not mid screen by far) so could you maybe tell me how this is done? kara maybe??
@Mattwi I don't play 3S, but i think the LP SRK can juggle into itself. In the corner most characters will juggle just by doing two at once except for skinny ones like Ibuki. To make it juggle midscreen or against skinny characters i believe you need to Kara Cancel his sweep into SRK. Basically canceling the first couple of frames of startup for the sweep into a SRK since the Sweep moves you forward a tiny bit so the SRK will juggle/connect. Hope this is correct.

And the parry system is not to hard I just telegraph my moves to much so I need to learn the parry play better. Your thinking of SF3: Double impact, which is the itteration of SF3 that came before thrid strike. And it wasnt more balanced..I remeber wonky things like Sean is god tier and Hugo haad a touch of death combo that chainned like 5 or 6 double palm slaps to stun to restun using the same thing.

I'd like Capcom to stop patching and updating the game. The constant messing around with them delays a future release by a few more years. I rather see a brand new SF5 in a couple years than more SF4.
I'm down for a third strike sequel (another 2d sprite or even 3d SF with the parry system) as long as they don't call it 3S or 3S HDR or something. The name would have to be something completely new no matter how small the changes end up being just to avoid that confusion with the players.
I'm torn about a 3S sequel. Considering how fighting game design is nowadays, a 3S sequel would undoubtedly have it's heavy execution requirements taken away (IMO, one of the most fun aspects of the game is getting those combos down) and a comeback mechanic introduced...ugh. I'm grateful for the new fighters since they've brought so much new blood to the scene, but I miss the games that required a player to work for those incredibly damaging combos.

This is more of a UMvC3 question but i'm not really a fighting game person but i really enjoyed MvC3 when i played it with my friend. So i was planning to pick up UMvC3 but is it possible to play those sort of games well with a PS3 controller for example or would it be worth it trying to get a fight stick?

@Crazymojo option select means like say it is sf4 right, and a ken player thinks a chun player is going to back dash so what he'll do is instead of just trying to catch the back dash he'll option select it to a short so that he is safe. so if he option selects sweep he would do light kick and hard kick in that order at almost the same time.
@Crazymojo and negative edge is when you hold for example wanted a hadoken you would hold a punch button, then to the motion and once the motion is done let go of the button and you get a hadoken.

@TheGamerH0lic DHC stands for a Delayed Hyper Combo, used in MvC3. It is used when you use a hyper combo, followed by another hyper combo with your second character to continue the combo.
FADC stands for Focus Attack Dash Cancel, used in SSF4. This is done by holding Focus Attack, and then dashing to cancel the Focus Attack. This can be used defensively or offensively. It is mostly used to combo into Ultra, for example: Ryu uses Shoryuken, then immediately Focus Attack and dash cancels to Ultra 1 for a high damage combo. Defensively it can be used to dash backwards to get away from danger.
@TheGamerH0lic The THC is when you do one hyper combo on Mvc3 and tag in another teammates hyper combo afterward for one massive combo....
Fadc is focus attack dash cancel... you do this by forward or back dashing while charging you focus attack (mp+mk) which will perform a fake out move... You can also use it to cancel out of special moves like ryu's shoryuken.....
@TheGamerH0lic on MVc3 Some charater's hyper combos are counter moves and do nothing when you thc them (like wesker) but are a good way of tagging a character out...

I'm torn about a 3S sequel. Considering how fighting game design is nowadays, a 3S sequel would undoubtedly have it's heavy execution requirements taken away (IMO, one of the most fun aspects of the game is getting those combos down) and a comeback mechanic introduced...ugh. I'm grateful for the new fighters since they've brought so much new blood to the scene, but I miss the games that required a player to work for those incredibly damaging combos.

@awwnuts07 I was trying to remember when I heard this music before ( in which game ) and I really think it is from tekken 3 ( the stage in which an outdoor appears, and there is some sort of a garage, for some reason comes to mind )
Think it really is Jin's theme xD ( Oh Tekken, I miss the good times I had with the first 3 games and with the first tekken tag tournament )

This is more of a UMvC3 question but i'm not really a fighting game person but i really enjoyed MvC3 when i played it with my friend. So i was planning to pick up UMvC3 but is it possible to play those sort of games well with a PS3 controller for example or would it be worth it trying to get a fight stick?

I wouldn't really want a 3S Remix. I think it'd be a lot better for them to just make a completely new SF game and include the parry system again because that's the biggest reason why I prefer 3S over SF4.

@Crazymojo option select means like say it is sf4 right, and a ken player thinks a chun player is going to back dash so what he'll do is instead of just trying to catch the back dash he'll option select it to a short so that he is safe. so if he option selects sweep he would do light kick and hard kick in that order at almost the same time.

@Crazymojo and negative edge is when you hold for example wanted a hadoken you would hold a punch button, then to the motion and once the motion is done let go of the button and you get a hadoken.

Thanks for the detailed answer Max! I thought the lenient inputs for SF4 would create worse habits than playing 3S, I didn't think how the parry system might create even worse habits. I've played Fuerte in SF4 so far but I think I will switch to a more 'conventional' character like Boxer.

@TheGamerH0lic DHC stands for a Delayed Hyper Combo, used in MvC3. It is used when you use a hyper combo, followed by another hyper combo with your second character to continue the combo.

FADC stands for Focus Attack Dash Cancel, used in SSF4. This is done by holding Focus Attack, and then dashing to cancel the Focus Attack. This can be used defensively or offensively. It is mostly used to combo into Ultra, for example: Ryu uses Shoryuken, then immediately Focus Attack and dash cancels to Ultra 1 for a high damage combo. Defensively it can be used to dash backwards to get away from danger.

@TheGamerH0lic The THC is when you do one hyper combo on Mvc3 and tag in another teammates hyper combo afterward for one massive combo....
Fadc is focus attack dash cancel... you do this by forward or back dashing while charging you focus attack (mp+mk) which will perform a fake out move... You can also use it to cancel out of special moves like ryu's shoryuken.....
