I understand you guys are patriots and all, but WHY would Russia attack? There is no point. WW2 is over, cold war is over, grow up. @zzerDrezz 1st: Russia is not behaving very sensibly in general, so it doesn't really matter if attacking Finland makes no sense. They might do it anyway.
2nd: There are other reasons for maintaining a credible defense capability, among them de facto indipendence. We don't want Russian intervention just because we have different laws regarding child custodianship or some other issue. Russia has a propensity to exert its influence where it can. We want to be friends, but standing on our own feet.
@bestamerica Lol, RK-62/RK95 are based on AK-47, BMP-2 is in service and will be upgraded, T-55 remains in storage and serves as a base for engineering vehicles, BMP-1 is still in storage and basis for firecontrol vehicles, PKM is the standard machinegun of FDF. The biggest threat to Scandinavia and the Baltics is Russia, and now that Russia has placed Iskander missiles and S-400 Anti aircraft missiles around us, covering up both Stockholm and Helsinki, we need to step up and take action. Russia will base a large number of Ka-52 attack helicopters not far from the Finnish borders, aswell as Iskander robots close to St. Petersburg. Russias new pipeline goes just of the coast of Gotland which could pose a very realistic threat to Sweden as Putin has dreams of restoring the old Soviet power.

Finland's ONLY threat is right next door in Russia. I'm sure they would still give the ruskies a hard time like they did in WWII if they had to. They might even beat them back because the only way the USSR beat Finland was by dumping millions of peasant troops into the battle and basically overwhelming them. This time around Russia does not have the numbers to do that.

@KoSoVaAnGeL Well Georgia's situation wasn't that black and white. They were moving troops in to areas which are practically parts of Russia. Russia started to move their own troops on to that area also and you know the result. Pretty much the same were going on between Soviet Union and Finland at 1919-1921 in so called Tribe wars (heimosodat). Soviet Union were recently formed and they didn't have strength to strike back Finland back then.
That's one reason why Soviets were so cautious for Finns. Other more obvious reason were close relationship Finns had with Germans. They were not allies, but by attacking in to Finland Soviets forced Germans and Finns to be brothers in battlefield. This is not propaganda or anything like that, this is history. Further, over 80% of Finnish men complete the military service normally anyway. We're not "dragged off the streets". This is our country, our home, and we sure as hell will defend it.
@creccy actually a conscripted army will have better troops than a professional one, the reason is simple. if you have a choice many of the best will choose other lines of work, leaders becoming leaders of a corporation instead of a commander for example. in a conscipt army you get everyone and can pick and choose the absolute best the nation has to offer for certain tasks.

The finish terrain is only suitable for small unit actions being forested and having lakes. The military is perfectly organized for defending in depth. They would do very well against an attacker. Just ask Russia who tried to attack them in the past.

The biggest threat to Scandinavia and the Baltics is Russia, and now that Russia has placed Iskander missiles and S-400 Anti aircraft missiles around us, covering up both Stockholm and Helsinki, we need to step up and take action. We can't remain passive any longer and ought to create a strictly defensive alliance.

Russia will base a large number of Ka-52 attack helicopters not far from the Finnish borders, aswell as Iskander robots close to St. Petersburg. Russias new pipeline goes just of the coast of Gotland which could pose a very realistic threat to Sweden as Putin has dreams of restoring the old Soviet power.

@KoSoVaAnGeL Well Georgia's situation wasn't that black and white. They were moving troops in to areas which are practically parts of Russia. Russia started to move their own troops on to that area also and you know the result. Pretty much the same were going on between Soviet Union and Finland at 1919-1921 in so called Tribe wars (heimosodat). Soviet Union were recently formed and they didn't have strength to strike back Finland back then.

That's one reason why Soviets were so cautious for Finns. Other more obvious reason were close relationship Finns had with Germans. They were not allies, but by attacking in to Finland Soviets forced Germans and Finns to be brothers in battlefield. This is not propaganda or anything like that, this is history. As I said there is no clear black and white in these cases. They are of course doing wrong, as common morale says it would be. But it is understandable why they are doing so. As for me I feel bad of events in Kosovo. It is terrible what happened in there. Couple of my relatives have been in peacekeeping mission in there.

En tiedä missä olet palveluksesi suorittanu mutta tietoutesi Suomen armeijasta on melko heikko.

Pelkästään käyttämäsi "rekku" kertoo paljon sinusta ihmisenä. Nauroimmekin jo inttiaikoina sille miten juuri tietyntyyppiset ihmiset käyttävät näitä koira vertauksia. Yleensä he olivat näitä autokomppanian laiskoja amiksia tupakki huulessa ja sotkun pullahillot paidallaan.

Joo no jos noin olisi Suomalaiset sotilaat ajatelleet talvisodassa niin sunkin nimi tällä hetkellä olis varmaan jokin Igor ja olisit töissä Siperian hiilikaivoksilla. Kiitä onneasi, onhan se huomattavasti kivempaa aukoa päätään täällä you tubissa. Häviäisi Ruotsille? Kaikki Ruotsalaiset jotka työskentelevät heidän armeijassaan ovat olleet poikkeuksetta sitä mieltä ,että Suomen armeija on huomattavasti kovempi kuin länsinaapurin.. näin siis Ruotsalaiset ammattisotilaat.

Mistä näitä oikein tulee. Kun käytte kattelemassa vaikka Norjan ja Ruotsin samoja videoita niin huomaatte ,että siellä kommentoidaan jatkuvasti ,että Norjalla on maailman paras armeija ym. vaikka näin ei oikeasti ole. Silti kukaan ei korjaile toisten mielipiteitä kun taas meillä Suomessa pitää olla niin helvetin realisti joka asiassa ja omaa maata puukotetaan kokoajan selkään ja kaikki pitää aina ajatella niin negatiivisesti.

Mietippäs nyt insinööri kenen työ on ottaa kiinni sotilaskarkurit ja taistella vihollisen erikoisjoukkoja vastaan.. ehkä sen jälkeen tajuat jo pikkasen enemmän viestini sisällöstä. Kovasti kehut olevasi jotenkin älykäs mutta näiden viestien perusteella se ei oikein kyllä välity tänne.. vai pitääkö sinulle puhua kuin 5- vuotiaalle ,että ymmärrät sanoman.

Biggest army in Europe?... I not sure what I hate more. Ignorant foreigners or ignorant kinsmen... Finland has one of the largest armies in Europe by manpower but just try to compare to the UK or Germany. they have more manpower even without conscription lol.

in comparison to the amount of important parts of our country, we do have the most to with conscription.

The finish terrain is only suitable for small unit actions being forested and having lakes. The military is perfectly organized for defending in depth. They would do very well against an attacker. Just ask Russia who tried to attack them in the past.
