  • how did you drill it through the bottom of the uke? is there excess screw on the inside of the uke?

  • Nice job and thanks. Gives me the courage to try it!

  • Thanks for this tutorial ! It really helped a lot ;D

  • Thank you excellent video, copied exactly, worked perfectly!

  • Very helpful tutorial. Thank you.

(and those are some cool tattoos)

  • Could I just glue the button on?

  • @creationcreators no. if you use a strong enough glue, it will eventually fall off, taking some of the finish of your instrument with it.

  • i dont know that triads also play uke? :D

  • are you serious VIN? i know who you are! JDS

  • @TheWhistler619 damn dude, youre late. this was three years and a full head of hair ago.

  • Thanks for creating this video. Your presentation is very detailed and thorough. Visual instructions for such delicate work is much more helpful than reading instructions on eHow. I can now attach the strap pins with confidence.

I crocheted a uke strap and can't wait to attach it to my uke and show it off.

  • @butterfly12962 awesome. would love to see a pic of your strap. i made a strap out of some old belts. ill show it on my next video.

  • Thanks Nukedoc! Just what I needed.

  • I used your tips for a guitar stro button and worked out great. Thanks

  • Thanks nukedoc, that worked wonderfully. I had been afraid to try, but your instruction was wonderful.

  • Thank you. I work as much with wood as with the ukulele (wanted to see WHERE to install the buttons) and I can tell you that you covered it all, and have probably helped many to avoid common drill/screw errors. Good for you!

  • such a big help.. thank you so much!!

  • SO helpful! just purchased a U-bass ukulele from a local shop in Kona, Hawaii and it didn't come with strap buttons so I look forward to following these instructions and getting them installed when I get home! thanks for being so thorough man!!

  • Thanks. Just what the doctor ordered. Good to understand why the bit can be too skinny or to thick. I was just getting ready to drill my guitar strap hole with a thinner bit but I saw your vid. Whew! I don't want cracked/stripped wood. Thanks.

  • I'm way to scared to do this to my uke. I know i would totally ruin it when I do it.

  • im totally goner try this out on my oldest damaged ukulele first :D

  • it's the background music that makes it ...

  • Excellent video, thanks :)

  • thanx i have a puerto rican cuatro similar to a ukalele it has 10 strings do you know how to install pickups

  • hi im just wondering is a Lanikai LU-21C Concert Ukulele better than a mahalo Les Paul ukulele?

  • ogoku any llanikai is better than any maholo

  • would it work on like an electric acoustic ukulele like a Les Paul or or sort? thx and good video easy to fallow

  • look at the area where you would put the bottom strap button. if it looks like an area where two pieces of wood are meeting each other then there is a bracing underneath. you will be able to install a strap button there.

  • @nukedoc619 I did it, I love the strap now, great tutorial, if you follow the instructions there is no problem. Just be careful. Also I found strap buttons on Amazon for a couple of bucks that come with washers, Mighty Mite Brand. I have a cheap Mahalo Uke, I am just learning, I did buy some D'Addario Strings to improve the sound though. It should work for the mean time. I play guitar so I am learning the Uke. Have Fun. Aloha.

  • @0goku Hey there, I know it was a while ago, but did you manage to mount the button on the Les Paul? I'm getting one at christmas, and I don't want to go drilling into the electrics..

  • Great tutorial. Worked like a charm!

  • Dude, are you in an elevator? That music is too much.

  • thanks man! great tutorial

  • Great job on how to install the strap button. You helped me a lot. Thanks :-)

  • Dude! Thank you sooo much! I put a strap on both my ukes thanks to you! :D

  • Hey do you remember the chords for the little bit you played in the beggining?

  • A, Bm, C#m

  • what kind of shop would i have to go to in order to get this done? would a standard music shop be alright?

  • pretty much any shop that does setup and minor repairs can install one.

  • excellent vid, dude!

  • killer tattoos dude.

  • thanks! I'm adding my strap buttons right now!

  • can it work in any guitar?

    like acoustic.. not a ukulele?

  • yeah it will work on a guitar. but if you are not good with tools, i would have someone else do it for you. otherwise good luck!

  • very nice, thanks man

  • Thats Cool...

  • could you do this exactly the same with an acoustic guitar??? cant find any other videos saying you can n cant be bothered paying to get it done when i can do it myself. someone help. can it be done???

  • yes you can.

  • Get a shop to do it--you don't want to jack your stuff up.

  • yah i guess i should have been more specific about who does it. if you suck at using tools, then bring it to a shop. but if you have a steady hand, and know your way around a tool box and woodwork, you should be fine. i know within myself that i can do it as good, if not better, than a shop. so i do. and ive installed these on acoustic and electric guitars as well.

  • Very helpful video - You did a real nice job on the instructions! Thanks! jcneville

  • you are cool as hell man

  • i love the elevator music

  • this is really cool. so going to do this. by the way where did you get your scratch protectors from??? thanks

  • i made them. i used linoleum floor tiles. not the most weight saving method. and kinda dampened the acoustic sound. but they work. and they look cool! hahaa

  • Arvin, thanks for the tip. I used this advice and now have a strap button on my tenor that I take to Jam sessions. :)

  • superb video, easy to watch and follow

excellent choice of backing music ,its made me want to go shopping

  • Dude, your video was cool! It was well put together and edited and the explanation was thorough. The only catch with strap pins is that some companies may not honor a warranty if you drill and add one.....I know, it's lame but it's true :)

Your choice of shirt and tatts are cool, very rock star!!

    Peace :)

  • Your choice of background music playing against the video of your tattoos and and the wife-beater tee-shirt made for a VERY interesting show.

I kept expecting you to says, "Do it like this or I will find you and kick you butt!"

    Thanks for the lesson!

  • Excellent, comprehensive tutorial with practical and useful content and information. Good luck to you in the contest!

  • nukedoc thank you so much ive been wanting to do this for the past 3 months

  • By far, the best strap button install tutorial for the Uke that I've ever seen. Rock on.

  • looks good nuke, good luck with that contest. i liked The Sims background music. haha
