  • Hows this compare to something like the KMG grinder? The KMG's have so many options, thats what interests me the most.

  • @madhatterjc1 if you buy all the options then a KMG with variable speed is hard to beat. This has the option of Horizontal Grinding, and has the 3 wheel sizes.. that was the prime reason I got this. its not a replacement to my KMG clone which grinds way more powerfully.

  • hows convexing on it can u do a vid

  • @BkbladzZz I have not tried. I dont do the convexing on this machine because the location would make the fine metal dust fill the room and I dont have an extractor. however there is an entire length of slack portion that can be used so it should be good. I can try it out briefly and let you know if its a grinder you are actually considering buying, otherwise I honestly dont have the time.

  • @knivesandstuff thanks and will u please try when u can because i need to find out if i should get this or invest in a bader

  • super review,,that is very compact too..nice piece of gear!!!

  • @bassfuryvi its very good.. for something about 1/5 the price though I know an excellent option.. dont know if you can get them in UK though.

  • @knivesandstuff 1/5th???? sounds great!! ha ha thanks!

  • @knivesandstuff hi there...would you be able to PM me the make/model please...in UK..I can purchase a Dayton from EA supplies..but it is just a long combo belt/wheel grinder..a dedicated multi pulley option like this that fits on by bench would be much better..thanks!

  • is it variable speed because 1.5 hp is kind of high for only one speed

  • @BkbladzZz its not variable speed. the drive is connected directly to the belt. however the HP isn't related to speed, but torque. speed is all about the Surface foor per minute. this runs at around 3000. the HP is to stop it stalling when you push in like a truck going up a hill with a heavy load compared to a little toyota. My other grinder is 2HP like this, and its just enough when I'm hogging steel off.

  • GREAT review and video, thanks! do not take 5000btu seriously, i doubt he is a licenced engineer, plus even if he was...most engineers I know are arrogant pricks...lol

  • @labandit1 haha.. its all good fun.. and I also doubt he is an engineer, because an engineer knows that motors are a subset of engines. I have had far too much abuse to take anything seriously anymore :) all the best.

  • @labandit1 facile est inventis addere

  • really awesome machine

  • no need for insults and i am an engineer good day sir . !

  • @5000btu You too.. It was fun.. Kind of.. haha.. Happy New Year.

  • we also call tomatoes a vegtable an engine dosent require petrol lol $:}

  • @5000btu you are correct. a tomato is a vegetable, or fruit.. so I dont see why you were having me about calling an engine an engine. the fact that its also a motor is irrelevant.

If I had called something a motor, that infact was only an engine, but not a motor then I would see the point to your original comment.

  • @knivesandstuff no sir a tomato in fact is a fruit an engine is not a motor

  • @5000btu lol.. you are funny assed. I just told you its a fruit, but agreed that its common practise for people to call it a vegetable. however, no matter how long you wish to persist in this humourous dialog it will never change the fact that all motors are engines, and not all engines need to be motors. you are welcome to discuss this further with an engineer if you like, but I'll leave it here. All the best.

  • @5000btu

tomatoes are a fruit, if you had an education as an engineer, you would have had to take a bio class as an undergraduate...I call B...stop hating on a great review

  • Totally superb belt grinder, the versatility is fantastic do have a ball park price figure you can qoute from the manufacturer.

  • @gernaneering RRP is $3100NZD

  • kyley, I was told about this machine by a carpenter mate of mine about 2 months ago. He totally endourses this machine as one of the best on the market in australia. Is finding belts to fit it a problem? Happy grinding mate....

  • @TheOutdoorAussie Belts are easy to get. the 2x48 is a standard off the shelf size.

  • Ok not bad

  • thats a motor not a engine no disrespect :}

  • @5000btu Lol.. Unless I am way off the mark the following logical statement is correct:

    All motors ARE Engines

NOT all Engines are Motors :)

So this may correctly be called a motor, but it most certainly is an engine.

    No Disrespect taken :)

  • @knivesandstuff I stand corrected sir. i cleary see the fuel an engine needs to create the chemical reaction to produce mechanical force lol :}

  • @5000btu haha.. that would be the Electricity.. yes, ironically, electricity is the fuel which is being converted to produce the mechanical force. why you think that an engine requires petrol is beyond me.. otherwise we wouldnt call them motorcars ;) lol + 2

  • Man, that's an awesome machine! That motor is massive! That will last forever! Nice score

  • That is a top bollox piece of kit...

Your a happy little bunny I think..

  • So awesome. Thanks for showing. Definitely on my list. Is it 72"?

  • Had no idea this thing was that sophisticated. Totally cool! Great video.

  • Oh man, i think i hate you from now on! I am soo f---ing jealous about that machine. Its looks so damn good. I gotta get something like that in future. But i think thats still a very far future for me...

  • Very cre8tive machine! This one unit seems to have been through the test of time with all its features. Very clever, the designer maintained the rotating features throughout the entire design of the unit.

  • NICE!...thanks for sharing .

  • Awesome machine I think I'm in love that be awesome for your swords you make

  • wow, that thing is sweet! that "small wheel" section is worth its weight in gold. i think this grinder may have replaced the burr king 960 in my lustful fantasies.

  • I Love It.! I've only seen another knifemakers pic of a blue one from a couple of years ago. That is the danglies. Oh yeah baby.

  • That thing is like a Cadillac In the US...Not sure what a good car in new Zealand is...Probably a Holden or something...

  • Kyley, I am so happy for you, man. I am a huge Radius Master fan. That is one of the best grinders in the world. This will not only speed up production for you, but add precision and finesse as well. So very cool.

  • @SugarcreekForge Thanks. I'd been looking at these for a while, but the cost of importing anything like this is insane. so my brother and I built the KMG clone which has been going strong for a year.. this is recently now imported to NZ so it was great to get it as I never had time to build more components for my other grinder. the horizontal feature is a key element I think.

  • @knivesandstuff Do you like the 2x48 inch belts? I have only used 2x72 so far.

  • @SugarcreekForge i only used 2x72 also. cant say yet, but id guess the only difference will be a shorter life between changes.

  • wow man that is very cool tool its just the job brilliant

  • the right tool for the job

  • Very nice indeed .

  • You realize you're setting yourself up for people to expect higher production numbers now...:).

  • What an awesome setup. When i get around to buying my first belt grinder i think I'll definitely go for a Radius Master. Quite happy to spend extra money for somethings built and designed in my own country over something imported from China.

Also, where do you buy your belts from?

  • @baggedandblown You are in Australia are you? I get my belts from a local supplier. you'd want to find someone close to where you live with good prices.

  • I'm more than a little impressed. That is a very cleverly designed machine, and looks to be easy to adjust and use. Good investment I'd say.

  • @AussieMark909 I rang the guy in Auz who designed it and owns the business. he's been at it for near as long as i've been alive so he does know his stuff.

  • I don't need a like button for this one I need hell ya! button.

  • @Nebulax123 there is another video uploading now.. making a Kiridashi.

  • @knivesandstuff I am not going to watch it, I think it would be very, very detrimental to my bank account.*LOL*

  • As you know I consider you a good friend and hope you will be for life however I am going to hire mindsmirror to do a youtube hit job on you for showing me this. I had to wipe the drool off every few seconds. Of course I know what it took for you to get that thing also! I don't think I have ever seen a better one. Was there any bounce on that wheel when you did the grinding? I did not see any signs of it on the blade. I am going to take a sledge to my grinder right now.

  • @Nebulax123 hehe.. The Polyurethane wheels create an incredibly smooth grind.. I may look at making a flat platen out of that stuff :)

  • @knivesandstuff That machine is the best knife making tool I have ever seen.

  • Think i beat the guy who always thumbs downs (pick you game up mate, slacker), been a while since ive seen a vid of yours without any dislikes ;)

  • @cam131313cam because ckc is not in the title.. if I edit, it will get disliked within a minute.. lol..

  • when your rotate the 2", 1", 3/4" radiusing wheels, being different sizes does it change the amount of slack/tension on the belt?

  • @cam131313cam nevermind i can see not that the center of the smaller wheels are pushed out to compensate

  • Dose it have a dust collector?

  • @masterwelder65 The Floor.. LoL.. I think to a certain degree the wheel guards guards deflect the dust down. I'll probably get a tripod or something with a dust extractor that I can position. I saw another knifemaker on youtube weld a dust port into one of the wheel guards.

  • how much?

  • @knifelover1225 RRP in New Zealand is about $3100 or so with taxes.. in AUS I think they are around $2300 or so.. works out almost the same on the exchange rate.

  • nice piece of machinery, perhaps putting a sandbag or a sack of concrete on the platform behind the Master will prevent tipping over when you are working on it. just an idear

  • @JaySdt with the platform base I've attached it will never tip over. a sandbag might work if it was free standing but I think its far too top heavy especially in horizontal to rely on a free weight holding it in place.

    Thanks and all the best.
