As far as I know there is no law requiring police to wear a name badge. The law says that a police officer must provide you with their name when they exercise a power against you (i.e. Arrest you, search you etc).

The reason that they were told to take their name badges off would be to stop people coming up and taunting them using their name.

The officers behind the young woman are AFP but the officer to the left of the video being questioned is a NSW Police Force officer which is clear as day by not only the style of baseball cap silito tartan, but his shoulder insignia and rank (leading senior constable) which the AFP does not have.
