  • thank you i was nervous because this is my first bike/bus ride and didnt wnt to hold the people up THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

  • @greifdealer Same,This is my First time Lol

  • Thank you so much! I'm going to ride the bus for the first time and bring a bike to see my girlfriend, I was nervous about the bike rack. Thanks again!

  • Rip the audio from this tune at tubepull doht cohm.

  • Does this work on the VIA bus?

  • Who the hell actually disliked this?..

  • @VUTFC hhahahaha dude exactly what I thought lol XD

  • @VUTFC - this is Youtube. There could be a video of a guy jumping from Earth to slamdunk on teh dark side of the moon and then do back flips back into the atmosphere without a space suit or oxygen and someone would dislike it.

Glad I foudn this vid. I have a 29" commuter bike and I didn't want to figure it out when I got there.

  • How the hell is this supposed to work with a bike that has fenders?

  • @Commando303X I used it with my beach cruiser which has fenders. It made me nervous. I never did it again. I will say this, I live in Philly and the roads are awful. Every bump we hit I thought, this is it. It worked like it was supposed to, just take the front fender off. Because they only have the one spring hook, for the front wheel.

  • lol i have to ride my bike down to the skate park ive never figured out how to put it on the bus lol thanks haha

  • My bike is heavy as fuck and I'm not the strongest person ever so it's kind of embarrassing when I load my bike on the bus. I've only done it like twice because I get super nervous haha

  • @deeefooo lol that sucks

  • how did 2 ppl dislike this lOL! this information is crisp and simple .. COME ON MAN!

  • Who cares about the environment just drive a hummer much faster and has air conditioning inside

  • And it's funny cause the two fags below me actually found this helpful

  • Wow I found this VERY helpful ;D

  • Yeah ive always been scared to use the bus rack :/

is it the same on all busses?

  • Thanks for the video! I feel nervous about putting my bike on the rack, but doing research before hand should help me not look like a total dork... -_-;

    Also hey, Portland! :D

  • How does putting a bike on the rack and taking the bus, instead of just cycling all the way save money or reduce pollution?

  • @jalit As opposed to driving a car out on your own, it will because: You are partially biking some of the way, and you are "car pooling." Imagine it this way: If all those people that were riding the bus instead drove a car to their destination, how much more would that add to pollution? :)

But yes, of course riding a bike all the way would be more effective for reducing pollution. :P Not everyone can do that though.

  • I hate it when you feel rushed to take your bike off the rack!

  • wow u really dnt like goin places huh cuz u were at the same place the whole time

  • Thanks! Now I don't have to hold up traffic, looking like an idiot, trying to figure out how to put my bike on the rack!

  • @MrJustinMiner Same here haha :D

  • This is very helpful! Thanks again!

  • Is there a tire width that is too large to fit in the bike rack? I have 2.5 wide tires, will it fit?

  • @tinytim008 2.5 " tires will probably fit. The openings are huge! If you have a 29" tire with that, it might not, but even that would surprise me.

  • @GPCOGvideo I have a 29" cycle. It goes well in Gillig Low Floor Bus Rack (New ones)...

  • wow, this guy sounds like Jim from The Office!

  • @IzalorDantin OMG Thats what I was thinking! xD

  • wat happens if the bike rack is full? wat do u do.

  • @tacoboy262 You can ask the driver if the bike can be brought onto the bus. Most buses have a wheelchair securement area where the bike can be stored.

  • Thanks so much (: I have to return a beach cruiser and didn't know how to get it on the bus

  • not a bad video...

  • leaving the rack down is considered sloppy and it can possible become a danger in the event of a crash to the occupents of the vechicle being struck

  • @crapper1 Thanks. Thats a good point.

  • @crapper1

    True

A bus I was on with the bike rack left down rear-ended a car in front, at the time I thought it was irresponsible of the bus driver but I now understand it was irresponsible of whoever left the rack down.

  • Thats a nice Orion bus!

  • Nice voice Mr. Narrator! ! !

  • here in vancouver translink change the bike racks on almost all there buses to a modified w2v rack. since the other ones blocked the headlights at night

  • hey im in van too. is it the same process and technique to put the bike on? or is it different. I'm giong tommorow and like the other guy below me said. i dont want to piss everyone off for taking a long time and look like a dumbass. could u possibly explain how to put it on and maybe post a video or pic?

  • o its very similar to the ones in this vid. its the same process on putting ur bike on the rack. but one thing is that you can only use it during day light.

  • @BeAnBeAn22

Vancouver BC has the same rack.

  • @SaucemProductions yeah but ours are yellow. lol

  • Very helpful video! Thanks. I had thought about taking the bus with my bike but didn't want to look like a fool trying to figure it out while holding up the bus.

  • man why did i search 'public bus' on youtube. I have no life.

  • lol this was useful for me, as i'm about to do this for the first time and I don't want to piss off the bus driver for taking too long :P

  • Me too i ride the bus all the time but dont know what to do about my bike lol

hopefully my bus is similar to this system

  • @LogicaLInsanity2007 i feel that

  • haha you certainly do have a life, you just wanna get places. There's nothing wrong with that.

  • thanks so much! that will definitely help ;)

  • thanks.. that will help.

  • What about bicycle with fenders?

    Does it damage the fender?

  • Ditto, what was already said, please put the bike rack back up when you're done with it. This is a safety issue, because as a driver, you can't see that the bike rack is down without a bike on it. Then it becomes a possible hazard that you could put into a bumper of a car in front of you if you then misjudge the distance.

  • That's a great insight. Thanks for posting it.

  • The last time I took my bike on the bus I didn't load it properly because the bus driver was rushing me and it fell of the bus, and got ran over by the bus, and I was PISSED!!!

  • thanks a lot for this the last time i tried to put my bike on the bus i didn't know how and the bus driver got really pissed

  • so you can only load 2 bikes?

  • ohh thank you I needed that

  • Oh we so need that in the UK thats a great idea and would surely make public transport a lot more useful to the cyclist.

  • big props! thanks!

  • thank you!

  • good demo but on the portland maine metro buses youre requierd to put the bike rack back up when its empty .

the drivers are not allowed to touch youre bikes for libility reasons

  • good video

  • Great video in case someone might be intimidated by this.

  • good instructional video! I would add hitting the spring loaded hook with your palm to make sure it is sprung down all the way.
