@vdizhoor that's because violence sells more. there still is exploration, but there is action too and larger than before, and the show is still about its people. i would say the show has improved somewhat.
That's because the Dominion gave cardassians poloron weapons. Like the Jem Hadar destroyed that Odyessey in a few hits. That's because they were able to fire through the shields. That's when the Federation had problems. During the war, there was 1 BOP that was able to withstand the poloron weapons and they managed to put them on every ship. It was too late because the war wasnt goig well and then the Cardassians joined the Romies, Klingons and Feds.
@Charlie25188 You are confusing poloron weapons with Breen energy dampening weapons. The Federation managed to counter the poloron weapons in time for the Dominion attack on DS9. The BOP you are refering to was at the second battle of Chintocka where the Breen used an energy dampening weapon to drain enemy ships of all their power. The BOP was the only ship to be unaffected due to a last minute change to the ship's warp core.
that 1 BOP was able to withstand the Breen energy draining weapon not the Dominion weapons, Federation had problem with Dominion weapons before the second battle of Chin'taka

I want to see another Nemesis movie of Picard and his crew. Not with Riker and Troi of course because they have moved on. I still would like to see another one and see picard retire on the next film. Then it would be a nice end of the TNG crew :)

Not really Starfleet's ships have always been equally matched with dedicated warships (with the same size) from other powers and their officers are amongst the best trained in the quadrant.
it was going well without the space battles from the original season to the TNG Star Trek. Its more of exploration in science drama. At this point no producers or film excutive are to blame but the public who who associated space and wars after Star Wars.
ST ENT started exploring in S1 and 2. When it came to S3...it didn't happen. So was S4 because S4 was all about gathering a peaceful alliance and getting themselfs ready United Earth Alliance. Then it came to be UFP. I think ENT and TOS was same in common when it came to Exploration, but ENT only explored in Season 1 and 2.
Also people got fed up with Star Trek only doing exploration. Then again, its also the Producers fault for not making it more than exploration. That is why it started to pick up on TNG and the public loved it because it wasn't just exploring. Then when ST Generations came out, people loved it and then the producers started making a War Series called DS9. In the end, it's no one's fault. People were getting old and tired and want to move on in life. Rather acting on ST all their lives.
ST Generations was a total failure; practically everyone hates it. DS9 and the idea about the Dominion War were already created before ST Generations was even released. It was released during DS9's 3th season.
Then people began complaining because it was all about fighting (and technobrabble), so we got ENT, which filled the franchise.
The first music scene is from the new Battlestar Galactica season 2 episode 12 from scene where Aplollo is drifting in space (and symbologically drowning into water)while Vipers are destroying Cylon's Resurrection ship.
