Ansett (and Mk2) closed due to the September 11th terrorism attacks (by that I mean slump in Australian air travel), Aloha's aircraft were too old and was unable to cope with rising fuel prices and Pan Am went out of business cos Muammar al-Gaddafi ordered the plane to be bombed as a attack against America and Britain
Well done. Thank you for remembering Aloha, flew on their 'rip and strip' passengers during day, cargo at night 737s....and never forget New York Air (Apple Air) 1980-1987.
Some I remember...Muse Air...Republic...Southern...Western...PBA..l...Carnival...Value Jet...MGM Grand Air...Air Sunshine...Dolphin Airways...Florida Express...PeopleExpress...Empire Airways...Emerald Air...Trans Air...North Central....Arrow Air....I worked for National,Pan Am and American,,,my Dad was with Eastern..
All of these airlines are great but Adamair was just a failure! It didnt even have the proper training and caused a couple of crashes killing many people, it was an indian company and I dont think its ever gonna get back up.
@tonapu, well there are over a thousand defunct airlines and it is impossible to put photo of each of the airlines in a video, the purpose I made this video is to pay tribute to ALL of these defunct airlines, not only those airlines which are included in this video. Therefore please take this video as paying tribute to all of these airlines and not only the one included here...
helios airways :D i love them! i flew with them on the same day as flight 522 crashed :l but it could of been me because on the day there was a problem on 522 so then we had to change to another plane which wasnt flight 522 i landed back in birmingham and everyone was worried because they knew i was flying with helios but they didnt know what flight exactly
i believe Pan Am sold it's routes off to United (south america) and Delta took a big chunk of europe (and then put it out of it's misery- just like AA took over TWA and then got rid of it. as Delta has done with Northwest. and HP did when "merged" with US. sad to say same thing will happen with Co, and UA . the texas air original will go away.

Helios Airways is closed because the lost 1 of their 4 planes its a B737-300
in year 2005 (Flight ZU522) and with 3 Planes is the airline nothing
PanAm is closed because of the terror in year 1988 over Lockerbie With a B747 named Clipper Maid of the seas (Pan Am 103)
Adam air is closed because of a plane crash in year 2007 flight 574 with a B737
