  • Hydrogen > E85. Nice try though.

I agree with 80% of what you said.

  • They need to find some thing else to mix Ethenol with instead of gas. Then we won't have to use gas at all in the US.

One other thing, if every one in the US went out and protested gas as much as they did the war in Vietnam, the govt. would have to listen and they would have to stop using gas. Some one needs to go Bomb Opec or some thing to.

  • One other thing is E85 is 85% ethenol and 15% gasoline. The main reason they make it like that is when they refine Ethenol, it is 100% alcohol. You could technicly mix it with Coke and drink it. The main reason they put gas in it is to make it poisonous. That way they don't have to pay alcohol tax on it. They don't want people to drink it any way.

There are several other reasons for mixing gas in it, but that is the biggest one.

  • We do need to make ALL vehicles on the road run on some thing else other than gas or oil. This is posible right now. We don't need to have all cars get 40 miles a gallon in 20 years, We need it NOW! We should have electric or solar cars or some thing.

  • he has already been energy advisor. as well as chief of mission to the united nations and he has served as a great governor for my people in new mexico. he is the most qualified candidate. i vote based on policy, not the person's party affiliation.

  • Good video!

We need solar energy, wind energy etc.

Invest mony enstead of in wappons in modern clean technologies!!

  • E85 fuel would'nt eliminate the need for foreign oil!! You still need oil to mix with ethanol. The only way to do be independent is to use H-Fuel cell technology. gasoline needs to become obsolete before we can become truly independent. When will that be?

  • Yes it will. We still have oil in America that we would use to mix with the E85. Remember, over 50% of the oil we use comes from North America. So if we can cut back total usage by 75% by using E85, we would have more than enough of our own resources to get by!

  • I also love the idea of our being able to utilize our crops for fuel, as I believe that farms are one of the foundation stones of America & one of our greatest assets! Also, living on the Oregon coast, we have lots of wind, so if every house here had a wind generator there would be a massive reduction in energy needs here! People just can't afford to buy them!

  • The "affordability" factor can easily be dealt with... right now there is no supply, and very little major demand... with a law, companies will be scrambling to create supply, the price will drop and the availability will increase (as well as varaiety). It will be a pioneering type movement, with new manufacturing business popping up across the US to meet the demand... First step: Create a demand!

  • You are totally right, but you forget the lawsuit factor! How many people will complain that the wind generators ruin their view, or the solar panels reflect the sun into their windows at a certain time of day, etc.! LOL! Our society is so full of whiney people who will waste plenty of their time money in court over the most petty things!

  • Another radical rule... and I don't even think it breaks the "cruel and unusual" rule... well, it may be unusual at first...

Anyone complains about stupid crap when it comes to making a radical change to save the earth (and our society), line up for your daily smacking... we could even create a smacking machine to ensure that the punishment is calibrated... first offense is a "love tap"... and so on... including "smack you silly" and "smack the shit out of you"...

  • LOL! I love it! We need fewer whiners and more people willing to help make things better! Maybe the smacker would smack some sense into them!

    : )

  • laws forcing companies to bend to the will of the federal government sounds a bit commie. i think tax shelters would have the same effect. maybe slower, but any radical change can cause major economic upheaval in such a major industry, such as energy. and this industry spills over into another major industry, the transportation, i.e. air, sea, rail and automobile.

  • The thing about E85 fuel is that it still uses 15% of petrol, when we can have vehicles which don't need any petroleum.

I completely agree with people riding bikes instead of using their cars, but a huge amount of people own cars because of necessity; People outside city limits, the elderly and everyone living in States with seasonal weather (like Michigan).

My town is small enough for the majority of people to use bikes to get around.

  • We already use corn for fuel and "biofuel" doesn't need to come solely from corn.

  • Would be interesting to see the figures on how much corn would need to be grown, how much could be grown and things like that.

  • using the free energy in our oceanns would throw the earth out of control, the tides would change, maybe even stop. Doing it here-and-there is fine, but not along every coastline on earth. Geothermal energy is definately one of the best ideas, and I'm with you in saying that we should have radical changes, people should be using geothermal energy and not just leaving the whole idea on the drawing board and not doing anything with it.

  • The tidal forces are brought on by the earth-moon interaction... so capturing tidal forces would not stop the world's tides... but the plan would not be to line all the shores... just areas where tidal forces are the most drastic... SF Golden Gate, Tacoma Narrows, etc... places where the water flow is maximum...

  • ah, I didn't mean to say tides, I ment the ocean currents would be affected, since the water would have to try harder just to get through those areas, like I said here-and-there is fine, so I guess your idea is practical ;)

  • LOL! I had to laugh thinking of our being able to stop the tides! : ) Well answered!

I like your video, as even if it doesn't stop the use of petrol, it would make a massive difference! It's better to make a major change that could work than only push for a perfect solution that can never be reached!

  • the corn idea is horrible, it will be impossible to use all fields for corn or other products.

  • They are doing it in Brazil... what is your justification for "impossible"???

  • Especially when we've seen the government pay farmers to not grow crops, because there are surpluses! Why is it that for every solution offered there are people saying, no we can't do that. It's like the Kennedys opposing wind powered generators anywhere within sight of their mansions.

  • Why are you a republican? Don'y you know the republicans will NEVER achieve true energy independence and "radical policies" because of their super strong ties to big oil. Read up man.

  • because I want to return the party back to the Small government and individual freedom party that it once was... Instead of jumping ship, I am fighting to save the party...

Republicans started as a Radical party willing to make radical changes in America... I think we can get back there if we get the 500 pound gorilla off our back... i.e. Oil!

    I have hope!

  • eh, the only person who would really do that is ron paul then, in terms of republicans. Everyone else is going to turn the government into a huge international corporate/war spending machine, bigger government than we could ever imagine

  • Mike Huckabee has a bolder energy plan than Ron Paul...

  • Most republicans are`nt tied to oil.Gore got rich on oil stock and now he is getting richer by scaring people.

  • Yeah, the Democrats are often about "Do as I say, not as I do"

  • I doubt it... because our fuel supply crops will be over-run by hippy communes! :)
