Neither Hertzberg nor his conclusions have made their way to any scientific peer reviewed journals. Why? It is because he is without any rational justification for his rather ignorant statements.

So it is vital to switch to non-fossil fuel energy sources asap even without the climate issue.

People will increasingly substitute more cost effective alternatives to oil/fossil fuels and this simple functioning of the 'price mechanism' ensures we will not have anything close to a 'colossal energy crisis' or any form of crisis

You forget that as prices go up the extra revenue makes it more profitable going for reserves that were hitherto too expensive. We will run out, importantly we need to change our "fuels of choice" beforehand, not so we dont run out,so we dont get any more naturally captured carbon into the atmosphere thus driving up the global temp more than it has already. Credible scientists believe that we are already on the cusp of going past the rubicon, lets not make it worse, eh.

Remember, as oil prices go up, it becomes increasingly unaffordable. As a result, consumers will economize and demand less of it. As a result, alternative fuels which may have previously been more expensive than oil, may become less expensive than oil and people will substitute. The only danger to oil supply is if Governments enforce price controls.

Your second statement denies its existence.
