The most epic of epic scenes is Hiraga Saito deflecting the arrows, attacks and magic, all the while trying to delay an army of over 7000 mages, soldiers, and giant orcs all wielding fireballs, swords, bows, spiked clubs and cannons so that his wife Louise didn't have to sacrifice herself for her kingdom but instead be ferried on a skyship away from the warzone. He only had one talking sword.

@shafoz lol no just watched and read my share of shonen when I was younger. Whistle, Slam Dunk, Bleach, Naruto, Beet the Vandel Buster to name a few. They're all good, and I would probably imagine that Capeta is a good quality one too, but the entire genre is fairly stagnant so I could probably guess most of the general plot points just from past experience.

@Madgreenguy I actually really used to enjoy One Piece...for the first 200 episodes(or whenever the Cloud city arc was over). I liked the diverse but cohesive cast, and the Devil Fruit powers made for some neat battles. But I like to watch shows with a storyline, not a bunch of arcs that loosely tie them all together. You know, like seeing the closure of Mihawk's and Zoro's battle that started within the first season and hasn't been resolved in 400+ episodes time.

Speedgrapher, Full Metal Alchemist, Gundam Wing, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Excel Saga, Rurouni Kenshin, Dragonball, Gankutsuou, Read or Die, and Escaflowne. And these are just the series that I loved. Movie wise stuff like Perfect Blue, Princess Mononoke, Grave of the Fireflies, and Ghost in the Shell top my list of movies. There are several others that I like, or enjoy in small doses, but this stuff is the best of the best IMO.

Rahxephon was alright, but it really depends on whether you've seen it or Evangelion first, because it makes the other one feel like a rip off.

As for the other two I haven't even heard of them.

The whole point of the scene where Mihawk fought Zoro was to show him how weak he really is and how insignificant he is in comparison to the truly strong people in the world. It doesn't have "closure" because it never meant to have it in the first place. It meant to set a goal for Zoro to reach while adventuring to the New World.

@xenniexTOP10 I don't know how I was suppose to "understand" the scene beyond what it was. Zoro was always wanting to test his skills and be the best swordsman ever. His backstory told us that. What more did Mihawk's encounter give him except a goal to strive for(i.e. beating Mihawk)? That's the closure I meant. I'm sure they might finish that fight, but you'll forgive me if I don't want to watch 500+ episodes to see that payoff.

@note4note One more thing too ... The whole point of One Piece is that t revolves around a group of people adventuring in the Grand Line, each character for their own reason. If you want to sea story driven anime then you are better off watching a 24 episode anime, not a long running adventure series.

@xenniexTOP10 To this point, all I meant by storyline is that the whole matter of the One Piece has been forgotten. After the cloud city arc, there's a whole thing where they have to rescue Robin, then they have to rescue Ace. It's the same issue with all the shonens. 5+ generations of bad guys(power levels), a auxiliary cast as bad as Sonic the Hedgehog, and an inability to keep on task for the main point of the story.

@Madgreenguy If there's two things that made me instantly lose interest in shonen action, it's the padding out of a story so the author can continue to rake in money on something he knows will be successful such that the series original intent vanishes behind arcs, and the oneups-manship of powers that characters constantly have to get. Remember when a really powerful attack in Naruto by a master of ninjutsu was a small ball of lightning? Now every character creates mile wide craters per attack.

There it was revealed that before he died he defeated the entire army of 7 million on his own either that or he died like he died here but he defeated him after the fairy brought him back to life.
