  • WTF! Berkeley is one of the most disrespectful cities when it comes to protests and the Marines. I can't believe this video!

  • We can safely say Berkley is an "unique" place in the United States

  • @Platooncommander

Yup, one shithole of a place.

  • Teslacoils what would YOU know about the United States Constitution being a Canadian in Sylvan Lake Alberta? What would YOU know about the military or anything about the US being as totally uneducated as you are?

  • not much left of the constitution to defend!

  • hey code pink i got an idea why dont you join the military and help the people you protest for. i hope a draft is in affect and all code pink has to go..

  • Yeah, I'm with the recruiters and they won't let us onto high school campuses in California. They let the Army, Air Force and Navy. But they won't let us. They tell us to get off and not come back.

  • I have no problem with recruiters being on campus so long as they leave me alone. My god one recruiter fallowed me to class trying to get me to sign up. He could not help but lie to my face when I told him what I was doing after college. He handed me a card and I threw it away as soon as he gave it to me right in front of him and he still would not leave me alone.

  • Berkeley not only protests the United States Marines there, but their police department as well. Do the people of Berkeley just not want protection at all? And never has anybody been able to explain just HOW America is fascist. Will you quit with the buzz word, blogosphere BS and THINK intelligently. No? Of course you won't, because you are a putrid, self aggrandizing oxygen thief who perverts the Constitution of the United States and then hides behind it when people disagree with you.

  • we should just leave them to the fucking crows and see how long it takes before they start to shit a brick and realize how fucking stupid they are

  • The Marines don't offer money, a degree, marketable skills, a degree, or travel. It's obvious that your knowledge of the Marine Corps extends only as far as the pamphlets the uneducated hand out at protests. God forbid you serve the country that gave you the rights you exercise so freely.

  • ... and, Berkeley's Code Pink activists are legally protesting in front of that recruiting station to that effect.

  • VOLUNTEERS. It means they chose to be there. So if you disagree with the war SHUT THE FUCK UP! No one put a gun to your head to join so top crying, hell we prolly don't want people like you defedning us. God bless our troops! Keep up the good work, This American will always support our FREEDOM, and keeping this piece of LAND. And I will fight for you too, even if you trest me like shit for it. Semper FI

  • The marines are not "protecting our free speech" or defending any part of the U.S. Constitution by illegally occupying a sovereign nation that never attacked us. The military is being used by Bush and company to protect the self-appointed rights of U.S. corporations to control resources of another country for the sake of their personal gain.

  • If you're in your late teens/early twenties and you want to go sign up to kill-and-die for the Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex then there's nothing stopping you. The Marine recruiting office is set up to RECRUIT, to lie and con as many young people as it can into terrorizing, killing and dieing in an illegal, immoral war of occupation of a country that never threatened nor harmed the U.S.

  • wow.....those are the only people who give you the freedom to say that

  • Joining the Marines was the greatest move I've made in my life. I'm 26 and I make $186,000 a year independantly and I could NEVER have done it without the leadership and ability to think on my feet I learned as a Sgt in the USMC Infantry (0311 baby). I received my degree and never even used the G.I. Bill because I was granted a full scholarship for winning a writing competition...Imagine that, a kid who was "conned" into joining the Marines at 19 beats out hundreds for a full scholarship...hmm

  • Now, lets not use your success against others. That is not proper, although I can see what you are saying. Just remember, there are those who would love to join, but can't due to either medical or whatever reasons. Does that mean they can't make something of themselves if they don't join the military? I am glad your happy about your experience, but is it really better than someone elses non military experience? Don't put yourself above everyone. Oh, support peace.

  • Peace is a benefit only the protected enjoy. In no way shape or form can any one country in the World survive without a Military. Its been proven time and time again. I support peace, yes, in fact I joined the organization responsible to fight for it. Everyone can make a success of themselves in this country. I applied for several scholarships to College. I won one of them which provided me 2 years free college. Marines had nothing to do with it in fact that was before I enlisted...

  • The U.S. military is not "protecting" U.S. citizens by occupying Afghanistan and Iraq.

The U.S. military is unparalleled. It outspends its nearest competitor numerous times. There are 737 U.S. military bases around the planet. No other country comes close to that. This is not "defense," this is empire.

  • Totally agree

  • Two points to consider:

    1. The purpose of the military is not to give you or anyone an education, or job skills, etc. The purpose of the military is to kill other people.

'Serving' in the Marines means nothing other than preparing to kill, and killing, other people.

    2. This occupation of Iraq is not "defending our country" but an attack on a non-enemy state which never threatened nor harmed us.

  • This "war" is an invasion and occupation of a sovereign country for the sake of controlling the oil under its soil for the benefit of an elite U.S. corporate-board few... the richest people on the planet, who are addicted to power-accumulation.

That's what all this is about.

  • War criminals and perpetrators remain free to continue the business of recruiting our youth to become the military force responsible for the occupation, torture, rape, murder, mayhem, and destruction of Iraq. This must end.

Contrary to the Bush administration and their fascist goon-squads, the majority of U.S. taxpayers, U.S. soldiers, Iraqi people, and most of the world's citizens are against this illegal and immoral occupation for corporate oil control.

  • maybe we should send code pink to talk to al-quede and work on a peace plan, think that would solve lots of our problems.

  • +9999999 @ umsc1990pa

    hah, nothing more to say.

  • well said

  • al Qaeda is a troupe of agents provocateurs founded by the CIA and the British, and remains so until this day -- it is an instrument of U.S. intelligence - a US sponsored intelligence asset.

  • watch "ABSOLUTE BEST USMC MOTO VIDEO"

  • Perhaps we could move the citizens of Berkeley to a communist utopia like North Korea and see how they are treated by the regime there when they try and "speak out".

  • Yeah, they can give tours of the U.S.S. Pueblo.

  • saying you support the troops but not the war is like telling your wife you support her but not marriage

  • The Constitution DOES NOT guarantee a right to violate law in the guise of freedom of speech. Anarchy is unacceptable, according to the Constitution, in any form or instance. I am shocked that in the face of local police refusing to enforce existing law guaranteeing the unhindered operation of this Marine establishment, the Marines do not do the enforcing themselves. If not physically, then legally. Why are they ignoring subversive criminal activity? The Marines need to step up to THEIR job.

  • I think they are doing their job, and its the hardest job a Marine can be called on to do, they are remaining calm in the face of monumental provocation, and waiting for the process to run its messy, frustrating, course. The Berkeley Police need to enforce laws "neutrally"-- but not passively.

As yesterday's protest indicates, some with WCW would LOVE to get arrested or punched, so they can wrap their little anarchist RCP selves in the protections of the US Constitution. Sick.

  • Being a Marine does not void your right to work. Marines have the same right to enter their place of employment. Civilians have the right to enter any recruiting office. If it were christians hindering the yearly public orgy of gay activists or pro-lifers blocking the door to an abortion clinic, police action would be immediate and severe, as the past has shown. The police are being allowed to chose whom they serve and protect and the Marines seem to be playing the role of martyer.

  • Yes. I agree with you that they shouldn't have to deal with this. I'm just impressed that they have dealt with it so professionally, and with such restraint -- unlike anyone else involved (City Council, Police, CodePINK, WCW

  • Allowing this to go on and fester doesn't resemble professionalism to me. You nip a problem in the bud before it grows into an out of control monster. In the current light, the Marines look weak against small town criminal opposition. They, like liberal govenment, are giving a free pass to criminal activity so they can appear to be PC. They are issueing the same double standards, favoring the liberal elite that the city council are. If it were a homeless guy blocking the door he would be removed

  • I do understand what you're saying, and only urge you to understand that this City is so screwed up that a) a show of force would work against them, and b) a homeless guy wouldn't be removed from the doorway -- they've had that issue this year too, and the mayor got in more trouble than this for coming out for merchants rights not to have to wake up bums and wash crap off the sidewalk in front of their stores.

Berkeley is in crisis right now, and too stupid to know it (I fear).

  • I understand your point of view also. I simply do not agree that Berkeley should be given a free pass to violate law because they are a community of 'hyper-sensitive' liberal jackarses. I cannot believe that ANY of the military enlistment facilaties in my city would make allowances for illegal activity to occur in front of their doorways. It is ridiculus beyond belief.

  • The citizens of Berkley who are protesting military recruiting in their town are not "violating" any law.

  • "Allowing this to go on?" -- people exercising their first amendment rights by protesting an illegal war.

  • Berzerkeley shows its' ass again.
