  • This is a great tutorial. I am planning on making a baby blanket out of this...but, my question is: If I wanted to chain instead of doing the magic circle, how many chains would I do to start out? Thanks for all your great videos.

  • Thank you. I would estimate a chain 4.

  • Great. Thank you so much.

  • Teresa, with the 6 sided granny square, and it be adapted to an eight sided square using the magic circle?

  • You can use the magic circle. That will be a lot of stitches so you may want to use a chain or adapt the extra stitches a round later so you do not put to many stitches in the first round.

  • hi teresa! how will I increase with this project? thx!

  • It will increase just like the granny square. As you include increase stitches in the corners, it will continue to get larger.

  • ok thx teresa!

  • I thank you a bunch. I saw the pattern in a store and thought I could figure it out on my own only to make a mess of it...though I was nearly right this showed me where I went oh so wrong. As well I thank you for the "magic circle" it'll make granny squares and such so much easier not having to remember how many for base chain.

  • I found this but to bad u did show how to turn it in a square lol

  • what size hook were you using in this video/

  • It looks like a size I/5.5mm crochet hook.

  • Could this be made bigger?

  • Yes, you can make it larger in size.

  • Teresa I did so well with 3 sides of the square. I got sooo confused at the last 2 dc's before the single crochet...my corner kind of turned into a circle...will try again tomorrow...Thanks a million!!!

  • You are welcome. The pattern is posted on my crochet blog with a symbol tutorial. It may help you see what needs to be done with the image.

  • Theresa, for some strange reason the six sided granny does not lay flat when completed. I had to omit the single chain at the end of the corners and at the beginning of the side portions of the hex.

  • If it is not laying flat, that would lead me to believe that there should be more stitches in the corners and on the sides. Each person has an individual tension which will affect the final outcome of a crochet piece. Sometimes it is necessary to improvise and add another chain or stitch to it will lay flat. It sounds like you have it laying flat now?

  • i accidentally wound up missing a group of dbc at the beginning and made a pentagon! that was a great accident.

  • Thanks Theresa, I always wanted to know how to do this design. Your videos and demonstrations are wonderful!

  • Thank you. :)

  • LOVE this!!! I am going to have to try this. I may get some new needles and yarn tonight.

  • where do i find the magic circle directions? thank you. you're videos are so great

  • She has a demo video of it up. :)

  • thanks!
