  • Oh hey! Have you considered intellectus diet (just google for intellectus424dietcom)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend lost crazy amounts of weight with it.

  • How's the "sweet"-free challenge going for you, Kent! I've lost nearly 15 pounds in December for a total of 25 pounds in two months!

  • Pretty good in terms of following it, but not so much in weight loss. I am still hanging around 8 pounds over goal, but January should mark the coming of less stressful times and a return to marathon training. My month has simply been a focus on more important things than necessarily dropping those few extra pounds. Now that those things are almost concluded, I am ready to refocus.

I am very happy you are seeing more success than I am.

  • Smart idea! re the sweetner. I recently became addicted to aspartame, the artifical sweetner in diet coke (951). I'm currently going through withdrawal and it is horrible. Best of luck

  • Doing good on the sweets challenge so far. Really want something sweet..but I just eat more protein and bam craving gone. I actually lost 8 pounds. Hang in there too ! Happy Holidays ~

  • thank you so much for your honesty kent. you help so many of us. as for the challenge, I'm in!

  • I am glad for the company in the challenge, and this challenge just keeps proving that one has to remain on guard for negative behaviors creeping into one's diet. Here's to proving the holiday season can be a season of eating better not worse.

  • I read EMT class on your blog. Is that the EMT-B class? I have been an EMT-B for the past 6 years and won the honor of EMT-B of the year for my 911 service and regional area. Best of luck. Holding at 45lbs lost.

  • Yes. I have about 2 weeks left of class and when I take my National finals. Congrats that is pretty impressive honor. I'll just be happy when half my weekend nights aren't consumed with Fire Dept/EMT classes any longer. That level of commitment is enough to burn you out.

  • he said " I ELIMINATE MY NUTS " LOL

  • I know how hard it is to give up the diet soda...even temporarily!

I am now water only throughout this challenge!

I despise coffee and don't like unsweetened tea...so water it is.

I am on Day 5...I started 1 DEC.

You've done the hard part already....giving up the carbs.

  • Congrats on starting the diet and making the decision to eat and be healthy.

  • just to clarify...I have been Low carbing since Feb 2007...lost 82 pounds...my goal is at least 28 more....since the initial 70 pound loss the weight loss is much slower.

the Day 5 I referred to was day 5 of the sweet free challenge....I tried it before the first time Jimmy posted the challenge....and lasted only 2 weeks....its not all the frankenfoods and net carb sweets I had an issue with...I just NEEDED a Diet Coke....

I am sure you can relate...

btw...your 211 pound loss is incredible!

  • yowza, no diet rite... thats an uuugly world. lol I always do the meat egg and vegie drink for 48 hours to curb my sweet cravings, but thats how I roll. =) LOL Bet you'll feel alot better when youre off!

  • We're getting there - right now I am just in the headache and grouchy phase of the caffeine withdrawal.

  • oops. Just watched the Jimmy Moore video and noticed that stevia is out too. The herbs and spices add flavour and make food and drink more interesting. :)

  • Yep, I personally am trying to eliminate all added artificial and natural sweeteners, which means to me strawberries and melons are still in but anything added to enhance the sweetness is out. I don't think Jimmy is allowing the berries or melons, but we each craft our challenge accordingly. Stevia would be in the enhance sweetness for me along with xylitol, et. all natural sweeteners.

  • Good For you! Don't forget that you can try out stevia. It is an acquired taste. There are herbs that can flavour food like rosehips & hibiscus, lavender, peppermint. On the box of tea the nutritional facts state that there is no significant sugars or carbs.

This is a huge step and I am rooting for ya!

  • Hahaha u nutta, ok good luck lets see which one of you breaks first will it be bowulf or livinlavidalowcarb :o) gl guys bets r on :o)

  • Diet Coke with Splenda? Where do I get that?

  • I get mine at the grocery store or Wal-mart Super Center, but it's only available in 12 pack cans. Your local coke distributer or bottler may not be making it either. This is the red headed child of the Diet Coke world.

  • Not all areas carry it. It is only sold is certain areas. I can get it here at the grocery store, but Jimmy Moore can't get it in his area. If you haven't seen it then it is not sold in your area.

  • Ohh.. I could not do without my Splenda :)

  • I told Jimmy I was in for the sweets challenge too ! Good for you. The menus you post are very helpful. Thanks & have a great night.

  • I am glad I have even more company. This challenge for is getting bad eating habits under control again. There was a whole year and half that I may have had 12 diet sodas total. Having them in 3 days is not a good sign.

  • 12 in 3 days? I could drink the equivalent of 12 in 1 day! 1 2-liter bottle is almost equivalent to 1 6-pack....I have drunk 2+ in a single day!

  • I used to be a 4 liter per day Diet Dew drinking, but gave it up for water when I started the diet a few years ago. Now it seems the habit is creeping back in.

  • soda= a bad habit, in general

eating nuts= way to much fat/sodium!

Sweets Free Challenge= Sorry I can't participate in that rodeo, I just ordered two pounds of Japanese cookies from Okinawa, Japan, I have to have ONE Kent!! =)

  • Hey nothing says you can't write an exception clause into your contract for ONE cookie. I certainly did on not going cold turkey on Diet Coke.

For me the problem with nuts was not so much their nutrition or Caloric makeup, but it was the HOW I was eating them. I wasn't hungry. It was simply a return to the grazing behavior of before. Out of control eating even on the best of foods (like prime rib or almonds) is not good.

  • Cookies from JAPAN... will eat more than one Kent! LOL. As for diet coke... you know the stuff in that,? we used it in University to clean silk screen printers in art class... stuff is horrid for your organs! Why I drink tonnes of water, or coffee -exclusively! Good luck mate! R

  • Yes, and I live literally a few miles from the best bakers in the land (Pella Dutch bakers), but there are some sacrifices. I even turned down Dutch letters- local delicacy much like I hear Rabbits are in the North country. :-D

  • Hello, my name is Victoria and I am a diet soda addict.

  • You and me both. There is still part of me that has to *want* to be rid of the addiction, but $4 every second or third day in 12 packs of Diet Coke is finally convincing me. The fact that I am jonesing for the last 3 hours for a Coke and almost missed a run because of it is irritating enough.

  • I get Diet Coke at Costco (not with Splenda - $10 for 32 cans of the regular Diet) and sometimes buy the even cheaper WalMart brand of whatever they have.

Sometimes I drink seltzer water or Crystal Geyser, but it's not the same.

  • WOO HOO! Welcome to my "Sweet"-Free Challenge, Kent. I KNOW you'll do great!
