They never say what is the condition of the brine water. The cleaner the input water, the less energy is required to purify. This system is just easy to make, isn't it? It is a fancy RO system.
@logdogfrog what else water purification technology is more energy efficient than ro? Clearly this video doesn't mention the technology pursued, salinity of input water, etc. Being critical here is not wrong. Btw, please tell me what to look up.
I am an entrepreneur living in sub- saharan Africa, and would love to pick up a project like this. When a University "team" invents something like this, who holds the patent ? is it likely to be open sourced ?

Potable water powered by nothing more than the sun. There's no reason to fight over water.
