This is amazing stuff. I always thought this was the best thing on Ummagumma. You can tell he (Rick) put a lot into this piece. The first bit (on here) just sounds like a sunny day in some lush meadow, the mellotron is beautiful. When the first theme comes back in at 5:53 (more mellotron) it's just stunning. Rick is very under-rated. (^_^)
Lol! I remember when I'd only just got Ummagumma and had forgotten the loud organ part came immediately after the soft country meadow part. I had the volume loud to hear the birdies tweeting and all of a sudden......I nearly shot through the roof!
Reaching for the volume, as I turned it down I heard my dad say, from downstairs: "What the bloody Hell was that?!!!"
Incredible tune. I love the false sense of security of a peaceful meadow that the music portrays, then bang! Then it just gets so amazingly dissonant and darker! I'd love to find out more info from the band about these tracks on Ummagumma.
Hahahaha lmao i agree with whoever just said that this song scared them halfway. That part of the song NEVER ceases to scare the SHIT out of me. So loud! hahahahahahahaha
I like part 4 of Sysyphus. It's actually my favorite from "Ummagumma". I also like the studio album of "Ummagumma" a bit better than the live album. I like the whole beggining with the song sounding kinda sad, but still beautiful, and then it has a loud organ playing. This is one of my favorites of Pink Floyd's. Although, very underrated and the album is never talked about very much.
oh god, that freaked me out. I turned off all of the lights (and the screen) (ps, I'm in a remote cottage right now) and the score halfway through almost made me have a heart attack.
The first three minutes are among the most beautiful pieces of music, Pink Floyd (or rather Rick Wright) composed.

I included this in my "Rockin' Halloween" compilation CD. It is Pink Floyd as I remember them since the age of 16.

3:14 reminds me of Bach.I always found this rick's experiment very scary and a sort of work written during a period of insanity

Check out, "The Waiting Room" off Genesis's album, "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway," if you like scarey jams (AKA Evil Jam).

Yes, you're right. But it's nonsense, when someone omits Part I from which the scary drums come from.

One of my favourites of Pink Floyd, especially because of the Christmas song that is played here.
