mmmm, there begins a procession of string chords at 0:18, and gorgeously they flow into a suspension at 0:45, waiting to resolve as many have. But then they never do and a new theme begins as if to say "no, there will not be a happy ending". And with that new piano theme, I love the ninth floating around in the string pedal tones. Mastery of heartbreaking.
@SerenityScore i dunno man, pretty hard to see williams as anything but brilliant. such a diverse portfolio, such technical mastery and depth. agree on zimmer though, and especially horner - he has like 3 or 4 motifs and he constantly recycles them.
@griffonstink Williams is diverse and has written some good stuff, but all his soundtracks begin to fade into each other and sound the same after a while.
Also I never doubted Williams's brilliance, I simply noted that he is overrated. :3

@griffonstink Dude. Williams pretty much copies Holst religiously. I'm not denying that his work is incredible, but he was really just showing good research.
This was one of my favorite moments from the show. The music is so perfect especially when that mournful violin comes in. A fitting farewell indeed and one full of love.
I love Merlin, Dr Who, Scrubs, Friends, House and other stuff ... but Firefly just kicks ALL ass! On tv.com the ratings for each ep. are almost always 9 point something! :)
I'm so glad that they made lots of money and success off Serenity, cos it just blew Firefly out of the water and made it huge ... and FOX didn't get a single penny! Of that, I am VERY glad - that it took off after they'd chosen to cancel it and they saw what a big mistake they'd made!

What I do find fascinating though is that Inara was terminally ill, and in one of the comics, written by some of the writers in Firefly, Jayne went to bed really drunk and accidentally shot himself!! (And Zoe's pregnant and Kaylee and Simon get married and have 2 kids) :P lol

@Rajaat99 I went to IMDB to check out rankings for TV shows. Firefly's 9th with 9.3, with about 60k votes. When I saw Firefly I though it was one of the best TV shows and definitely the best sci-fi show ever on TV. I was so glad to find out so many people agreed. I felt empty when I found out it got cancelled, but this soundtrack makes me happy. I had never seen so many videos with 0 to 1 dislikes. :)
This is a very un-upbeat track. I really like it. Partly because it's one of the few pieces in the soundtrack that isn't composed from multiple tracks. It is really beautiful though.
