  • that is a very sad video my grandparents liked the video and liked how you put that verse from the bible. I feel sorry for you posted from dj

  • Ya know this kind of thing happens all to often. Shelters are not a safe haven for dogs. They are so over crowded the people at the pound don't seem to care if they save the dog or not. They are just worried about how they are going to fit in the next group of dogs. I've known 2 other people who have had this happen to their dogs. This time it was a Hero Dog. Shelters are terrible places, I encourage everyone to adopt shelter dogs and cats, adopting them is saving their life.

  • Euthanized, by accident, damn, i'm so sorry for them.

  • Rainbow Bridge sweet Target, in our hearts you and your family are. Praying for change at animal controls that things like this will stop happening.

  • grrrr animal control should think! grrrr

  • stupid animal control!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • stupid animal control!!

  • I'm very sorry about your dog. That was a famos cute dog. (Poor!!!thing)!!!!

  • I cried. it makes me so sad to see a dog died by acciedent from the stupid animal control! it almost looks like my dog who i found as a stray, but my partents want to give him away. i cant say anything else cuz im too sad, poor dog! and the guy even called at night before they killed the dog. For the one person who disliked this, your so mean! this dog save more than 50 people in the war, so stop being so selfish!

  • This is a beautiful video and a very sad story. Target was an incredible dog. I know that all the members of the Puppy Rescue Mission family (and others all over the world) were heartbroken when this senseless tragedy occurred. There is no easy way to say we are sorry to the Young family but I for one sure thank them for sharing Target with us. They didn't need to let us in at all.

Having worked in a conventional shelter I can tell you these horrific things happen although not often . Thank God.

  • What is the song ?

    Thanks

  • Wow. I stand in awe. I say we honor her memory by roasting the turd who let her run off and be snatched up in the first place. Dog tags cost mere dollars and could have easily prevented this tragedy so worthy of a mundane slide show. That dog loved us and every puppy she came across- how many dogs do you know who would follow on a patrol? Damn shame, the whole thing. PS - Not digging the activism on a tribute page.

  • I love this video and the Quote you put below it by Cicero. The two say it all.

    Many thanks again.

  • Just want to say this was an incredible video done to honor Target.

My sincere thanks to you for it. May God Bless you for it as I consider it to be

a blessing to myself and many others who really know canines and their efforts to really be "man's best friend.". I followed Target from early on and her loss is shared by so many of us.

  • She survived a war zone in Afghanistan only to die in a war zone in America in the hands of a human being she has become to trust and love.

  • we stand together we fall together dogs for life

  • <3

  • Such a beautiful dog, so very sorry... kleenex please: (

  • I've read a bit of the case of Target, and was very happy when everything was going well, and then terribly sad when the "shelter" accident happened. May this loving dog rest in peace and be running around happily in a better place!

The vid mentions "save the lucky seven" What does it mean?

  • I don't understand how a shelter worker 'accidentally' euthanizes the 'wrong' dog.

  • @JoanCrawfordsghost, first of all 'accidents' happen BUT everything was set in place to be wrong from the start . . . From the moment Target went missing; to the vet tech who found her and went door to door to return her home; to the shelter employee and on and on and on . . . It's AWFUL! I don't know IF a Microchip would have made a difference, BUT I do know that ALL SHELTERS MUST Stop KILLING animals Just Because! Please join No Kill Nation, so we can change accepted procedures.

  • @onekinkstar, by the way, I would leave a link for NKN, but can't do it here anymore, so you'll have to look them up. They have a page on Facebook too.

  • R.I.P. sweet Target. You are loved around the world.

  • Bless your sweet puppy! May you wait ever vigilant for your master over the rainbow bridge.

  • Blees your sweet puppy! May you wait ever vigilant for your master over the rainbow bridge.

  • RIP Target. Such a sad way for you to leave this world But know that you are still loved and your people are fighting for you.

  • Total tragedy. The killer should dealt with by the justice system.

  • can someone please tell me how the dog died? what happened

  • @playitsafe2 She got loose and was at the shelter and accidentally euthanized. Apparently a shelter worker didn't follow protocol and euthanized the wrong dog! What a horrible way for this dog to end her life and for her family to lose her after so much she had been through and finding her way to a better life in America. :-(

You can find the story of what happened on CNN

  • Every year 4 - 6 million animals are PTS in America ... this is a terrible epidemic and a tragedy. We, as humans need to end this attrocity. Stop breeding!! Start saving. If it were not for people and their need and greed to breed kill shelters would not exist. Yet, I look at the local ads on the Internet in the animal section and people are constatly advertising for these "new breeds" crossing breeds and making something new and trying to sell the for outrageous prices - they need to stop!!

  • This dog truly touched so many hearts with her story. Thank you, Young family, for rescuing her and bringing her to your home. She did have such a good life while she was with you, even though her life was cut way too short. No one who cares will ever forget what happened - and hopefully it will bring new light on the terrible "PTS" situation that happens every day in most animal shelters.

  • I AM TRUELLY SO SORRY FOR THE YOUNG FAMILY AS WELL AS TARGET~MAY YOU FIND SOME FORM OF PEACE

  • i m soooo sorry.target.

    R.I.P

  • Rest In Peace Target

Many hearts are broken because of your death.

Let something like this never happen again.

  • My heart hurts for you and your family but mostly for Target - why wasn't he wearing HIS dog tags.

  • R.I.P. Target -- you deserved more & you will NEVER be forgotten! My heart hurts for your loss and for your family who will miss you eternally. <3 Sweet soul.

  • I am soooooo sorry! /funny how people listen when u are gone!!!

  • I am soooooo sorry!

  • This is so very sad, what a tragedy, Rip Target ;-(

My heart goes out to the family!

  • All heros hold a special part of Heaven. May you RIP with all the other hero angels, you will never be forgotten.

  • What a horrific ending for a remarkable dog. A stray dog in Afghanistan that repaid those who took her in by saving their lives. And was repaid herself by the love and determination that brought her home to the Young's.

Treasure the memories and photos, live the life she saved to the fullest, repay her by helping other strays, and remember that her spirit and love will always be with you.

  • That was a Beautiful Tribute to a Beautiful Hero Rest In Peace Sweet Angel.

  • War Dogs didnt get payed, they don't medals, they don't anything but love from our troops and yet they will lay down their life for our soldiers. Truly man's best friend.

loyal and faithful friends, God please take good care of this wonderful Hero.

  • This is just too sad....I keep saying I'm not going to read another story about Target but then I see another one and read it again wishing that Target were still alive. The word shelter should removed from most animal facilities. I've heard from someone who lived there that Phoenix has one of the highest if not the highest euthanasia records of the all the U.S. If this woman that did this to Target were not a "shelter" worker, would she be charged for killing an innocent dog?? She should be.

  • target there just are not words to say, how sad we are, that your life was taken away. that you, another innocent victim of shelter skelter. ……what happened to the definition of shelter? a hero who saved the life of man, had hers robbed, by their careless hands karen lyons kalmenson
  • So sad, it is not fair.

WE NEED TO STOP THE EUTHANASIA OF ALL ANIMALS.

  • @IamLisaYo Exactly! Shut down the puppy mills and opt to adopt! People need to be responsible and have their dogs and cats spayed and neutered.

  • He saved another life, this time by giving his. I hope the other dog spared found a home! Peace be with you all....NO KILL

  • I AM A WORKING DOG

My eyes are your eyes, to watch you and to protect you and yours,

My ears are your ears, to hear and detect evil minds in the dark,

My nose is your nose, to scent the invader of your domain,

And so you may live, my life is also yours.

    ~~Cicero

  • @redleader7 Beautiful!

  • My tears is for you...God take you on the heaven....

  • All war dogs who are brought to other countries from a war zone should be tatoo ID'd and also receive microchips. Our Dog Heroes must receive the highest recognition---it is too bad that these war heroes do not receive Veteran's Administration recognition and care

  • May you rest in peace over the rainbow bridge.

  • RIP darling Target...thank you for everything you were to us all. We will never forget you..Brin and Sally XXXX
