  • All I can say is 'pure genius!' Graham is one of the greatest bass players that ever lived! Looking at this video, makes me want to learn how to slap a bass guitar.

  • The best part is when he starts singing about it :D

  • Saw him with Prince and they did Sly's 'Simple Song'. He walked out on stage in a white suit, slapping like crazy. Doesn't get much cooler....

  • incredible!

  • Holy shit!! He doesn't need any other musicians; just him and the drums!!

  • ?????

  • ???

  • @LilWayneMetalGod sarcasm?

  • @LilWayneMetalGod Your name and comment made me laugh.

    Silly heretic....

  • subscribe in my page for larry graham live 2010 at billboard in 2010 /9/10

  • i'm seriously considering switching to bass just because of this video

  • @IbanezArtist13 switch on brother,switch on!!!!!!!

  • @IbanezArtist13 me too, but i have no idea what to do with my 77 SG afterwards D: no jk, im serious about this.

  • thats my brother

  • that black man can slap

  • black people are cheaters......

  • @bassguy215 nope they are the best at the bass

  • Larry Graham....the muthafunkin godfather of thump funk baby lol

  • the bass was made to get people laid

  • @mrbeowulf138 Never worked for me.

  • @chocotacojewboy were u good :)

  • @mrbeowulf138 gonna have to agree with that shit :D

  • @mrbeowulf138 Collegehumor says playing guitar well enough to get laid, and they have other instructional DVD´s wich contains PLaying the bass and don´t get laid XD, funny as hell just kidding Bass is for awesome relaxed people.

  • I meant to say I can't do it

  • Awsome! That was sick! I try playing slap on my guitar and it's hard u can't do it but I wan to :(

  • This guy can tear up the bass. If I could play like that I'd call myself "Graham Cracker" !! What a master ! Cool as cool gets.

  • Sometimes I feel the Bass Guitar is underrated in guitar society. If I had to choose I'd probably choose a good 4 String Bass and learn on that... Plus the Deep Tone of the Bass sound badass! I like 6 String Rhythm Guitars but I find them not really my style and I prefer to slap something around when I'm listening to Metal anyway...

  • is it bad if i jacked off to this

  • @TheSeveredTongues in most cases... but i understand

  • Oh

    My

    GOD =D

His Bass is so AWESOME !!!

  • @rafamine1995 'cause he's not a bassist, he's a true musictian.most of bassists are boring believe me. I am one and i try not to bore myself. Frank Zappa once said "bassist are failed guitarists" hahaha

  • greatest musical innovation ever!!

  • Larry Graham, Flea and Les Claypool! fucking pioneers!

  • @Metal199 - Larry Graham is THE pioneer. Flea and Les Claypool are not. They admire and try to emulate Graham!

  • Comment removed

  • @cleotube Are you seriously suggesting that Flea didnt pioneer anything? Very ignorant of you

  • @TheStressBalls stop trying to insult. I'm not talking about yo momma, I'm talking about Flea. Why you so sensitive? No, Flea pioneered nothing, not if you are from my neighborhood. Maybe in yours Flea is some special anomaly. Most of the Brothers playing bass in my hood can do what Flea does and much much more.

  • @TheStressBalls Flea didn't pioneer anything, per say, he improved on what Graham started. He's one of the best examples of what innovation means in music.

But Graham was the one who pioneered this technique. Flea just made it faster. That's not to say he's not a great bassist, but pioneer he is not.

  • @ThePsychoMike Graham pioneered the technique, but I think Flea was also a pioneer in a different sense. Flea was really one of the best at combining funky slap bass with rock, which is what brought him to fame.

  • @TheStressBalls It's still innovation. Not pioneering. Graham created the technique, Flea expanded upon it, as did many of the other bassists to come after him. Think of it this way: Graham blazed the trail. Flea and everybody else who uses the Thump-Plunk technique are paving the road behind him.

  • @ThePsychoMike I agree with what you say. but you could also think of it in a different sense. Graham pioneered slapping and popping, but Flea pioneered the funk-rock playing style. I guess it doesn't really matter, they are both great musicians.

  • @TheStressBalls The only thing Flea may have pioneered is more white dudes knowing about Graham's technique.

  • @cleotube and the funk-rock style

  • drake uncle

  • POOOOOOW!!!!

  • somewhere along the line people tossed this aside for the likes of such "musicians" as lady gaga, and they wonder why the world is supposed to end in 2012

  • SO FUNKY!

  • OH what?!?!?!? this is definitely les claypool

  • From what I have researched, Larry Graham is the inventor of the slap bass technique. He was a teenager playing bass accompanying his mother who was playing piano and their lack of a drummer inspired him to use a percussive attack which he evolved to the slap bass technique that is used world wide.

  • does this song have a name?

  • @greenmedley89 the name of the song is POW!

  • @greenmedley89 yea, 'Pow'.

  • a very talented brother

  • mega! :DD

  • i tell you i also play bass and i got to say this guy is the bomb.

    the master of bass playing.

  • :D yeahhhXD

  • Best Slap bass in my opinion... Damn!

  • He made the most important (in my opinion) musical invention of the 20th century, Popping & Slapping!!!

  • NOTHING can beat this guy!!!F@ckin' Bass legend!!!

  • Saw Larry today after he was on david letterman

  • why do all these vids always have japanese subtitles?

  • This is the rapper drakes uncle

  • Oh my God that was amazing. I'm sorry to all of you that have known this guy for quite some time, but I'm just know, as of today, learning what awesome talent he has. MAN!!!!! THIS is the guy behind Sly and the Family Stone's "If You Want Me To Stay" bass line???? Jesus!

  • I learnt this yesterday and made a video of it (on my channel if anyone wants), its one hell of a hard song to learn, hes amazing!

    =) =) =)

  • and its a black man

  • This man is the innovator and creator of this style back in the 60's with Sly and the Family Stone. Listen to some of those songs and you can hear him slapping and plucking. I saw him live and he explained how he came up with it. He wanted drums but his mom couldn't afford any. So he had an old guitar, and since he wanted drums so badly, he devised a way to get a beat on the guitar while playing it. Hence, the style we see. I study him a lot. Awesome skills!!!

  • Speachless!!!!!And u have some ppl sayin Cliff Burton is better!!!!!

im gonna kill myself the next time i hear such stupid comments!!!!!!!

  • @FunkyAxl11 no no suicide isnt the answer, its homocide.
