i have this board,but xigmatek darking make my tall dominator cant be installed at blue side channell ram for dual ram mode,so i cut my xigmatek dark knight fin to make those ram at the blue side channel..

this is from the manual:

"If two memory modules are to be installed, it is recommended

that you install them in the DDR3_1 and DDR3_2

sockets."

(that is the other 2 slots that you have used) I don't think it matters too much and what you have done is the logical way really as its away from the heat. But i would do what the manual says.
