people say that if u have a gun in the house a kid could find it and hurt them selves. I grew up in a house full of guns. and my parents each kept a loaded hand gun in their night stand. When i was very young they told me where it was, explained that it was loaded and showed me what it can do and told me that it was not a toy and i should never point a gun at anything that i did not want to kill. I was 4 years old and knew that guns werent bad and that there were just bad people in the world.

Being armed simply gives you options for self defense that you otherwise wouldn't have. Ideally, hostile situations would be avoided. You don't get it. By taking away people's legal rights to own guns, youre just treating the symptom rather than the cause of violence. Simply banning guns is not a realistic approach to end shootings and killings, because there are SO many guns in circulation in the US, and most of the ones used in crime are illegal and/or unregistered, therefore, no way to enforce them. It's not as simple as you think, and contrary to media, guns are used for defense quite often.
