I was 17 years old when i heard this song for the first time and i LOVED it; now it is clear i am a depressed man because it is a depressive song; but, nevertheles, i still love it!
This song was on the B side of the single called I’m a man, released in October of 65 and recorded a month earlier. Clapton was still with the band during that time.
That is one reason I do not like to get reissues but unfortunately, one doesn't always have a choice in that if a copy of the original isn't available any longer. I had a lot of the Yardbirds of both eras on vinyl that got ruined alas the only thing I can do is get reissues.
Moral of the story: there are a lot of Yardbird reissues on the market that are misleadingly promoted. And by the way, billing a song as 'Eric Clapton and the Yardbirds' is like billing one 'Keith Richards and the Rolling Stones'. But still, thanks for posting this good old recording.
This recording was on the "Over Under Sideways Down" Epic LP ORIGINALLY. That LP has Beck on the cover and was their 3rd LP. I cant believe theyd put a recording that old and with Clapton on their third LP, especially when Beck had been with them for 2 LPs already. That's pretty good evidence that it's Beck, not Clapton.
That strange because this was recorded with Jeff Beck. The last song that Eric Clapton recorded with the Yardbirds was For Your Love. This song is even on my Jeff Beck CD - Shapes of Things. This song was recorded in 1966, a year after Clapton left.
@RockNRollOverDose i meant to say, that it had a picture of the yardbirds with eric on the cover.but, then again there was same kinda stuff in the sixties, there used to be covers featuring jeff while actually eric was playing on the record, and vice versa.
i just liked the song also in rainbows version

You should re-label this as Jeff Beck, I think you've had long enough to get it sorted
