The SS which is WAY cheaper than the GT500 was put up against each other and the numbers were almost evenly matched. Which is sad cause the GT500 has a engine with 100 more horses. They put a super charger on the SS to see if that would make any difference and it did. a 5k S/C on a 33k car picked up 1.1 seconds on the GT500 when it only had .01 on the SS the first time.

The competetions will revise its products and power out put. Z28? Also look for revised fuel maps in the LS3 Camaro as well as a better exhaust. Look for the numbers to change in the Corvette first.

GM couldn't squeeze anymore ponies out if the LS9 block without risking block failure so 638HP was what they determined to be the safe maximum output. The Ford GT can run 700HP with a simple pulley swap, thats it. The Ford GT that holds the record for standing mile @ 266MPH was running ALL STOCK internals. The GT has unlimited potential so to speak.

The gt500 is not done by shelby anymore. They just use his name as part history and contract. Now, the supersnake is made by shelby himself(he requires your car though). he also has other packages too, but i don't recall any of the names. Yet, arguing over who is the better aftermarket company is pretty dumb mate.
Its not always about horsepower, the stang only has a few hp less than the camaro but it weighs hundreds of lbs lighter...camaro aint got shit on the new stang

I believe the manual is the M82 and the auto is the 6R80. I was saving for an 08 C6, but I'm thinking about the 2011 GT. I had a 99 GT that I beat on for years at the track and street with a V2 S-trim and then a T-76 Turbo. Awesome car and never had any problems. I would get another one.
Then don't shift until the skip shift function on your DRO disappears. It will usually go off at about 22 miles an hour in first gear and that will only make the RPMs go to about 3,000 or maybe a little higher. I usually accelerate from a stop pretty quickly so skip shift never kicks in. Just work around it. Its not as big a deal as many make it out to be once you learn your car's gears.

@HotShotVQ35 Very true but the Ford GT is for the most part totally detuned. Where the ZR1 is basically maxed to a safe point. GM couldn't squeeze anymore ponies out if the LS9 block without risking block failure so 638HP was what they determined to be the safe maximum output. The Ford GT can run 700HP with a simple pulley swap, thats it. The Ford GT that holds the record for standing mile @ 266MPH was running ALL STOCK internals. The GT has unlimited potential so to speak.

I love the old 5.0 too, but this 5.0 produced 415hp a little easier than the old 5.0 did. Its a hell of a lot more reliable too.

Looks like they took the DOHC cobra motors, added a little displacement and hooked it up with the valve timing technology they used on the three valve motors. Innovation and evoulution is what makes Ford great. I hope they come with forged internals. Add some boost to these 2011 msutangs and walk all over everything on the street.

The gt500 is not done by shelby anymore. They just use his name as part history and contract. Now, the supersnake is made by shelby himself(he requires your car though). he also has other packages too, but i don't recall any of the names. Yet, arguing over who is the better aftermarket company is pretty dumb mate.

I believe the manual is the M82 and the auto is the 6R80. I was saving for an 08 C6, but I'm thinking about the 2011 GT. I had a 99 GT that I beat on for years at the track and street with a V2 S-trim and then a T-76 Turbo. Awesome car and never had any problems. I would get another one.

Then don't shift until the skip shift function on your DRO disappears. It will usually go off at about 22 miles an hour in first gear and that will only make the RPMs go to about 3,000 or maybe a little higher. I usually accelerate from a stop pretty quickly so skip shift never kicks in. Just work around it. Its not as big a deal as many make it out to be once you learn your car's gears.
