Solar flares and Coronal Mass Ejections occur when our own star gives off a large amount of radiation [in the case of a flare, it ejects part of the solar surface and in the case of a Coronal Ejection, it strips off a VERY large part of its outer atmosphere.] Gamma Ray Bursts occur when a star goes Supernova and the resulting black hole's accretion disk gets hot enough to emit a large amount of gamma radiation.
