i can also draw well, but when it comes to designing the clothes or items, I really suck at i. T.T is there any ways to solve these kinds of problems?
Bringing your mind to life on paper is possible for anyone. The thing is, it takes massive amounts of hard work to get being really good. Feng Zhu has literally spent years of his life drawing. I still don't consider myself very good, but I can get down a good idea of what I'm seeing in my head and the ONLY reason I can do that is because I keep making shitty drawings and trying to make the next one a little more right. It just takes lotsa time and hard-nose determination to get better every day
@DZENKON I'm currently on a graphic design course T__T and my tutor always tell me to be drawing 24/7 but i don't cus i hate all my drawings! it's an ongoing struggle and that's my dream too. to be a concept artist for a gaming company :(
@mikesamillion27 well the bad thing about graphic design is less free drawn and more functional things, more make this lines than create a character... but what your teacher say it's true, my gf draw better than me and she learn like that just drawing but after all I think there is a way to that, I'm doing this days, is draw something, like speed paints of someone else or draws like the video, and I think in the months to come I be better and I will have a nice album of draws XD
@mikesamillion27 literally the only way you are going to improve at concept art is to accept that all of your drawings are going to suck until they don't anymore, and that means nothing at all about who you are or whether you're good. Trust me, literally the only way to make them not suck is to draw CONSTANTLY, and try and make each one better than the last. LEARN PERSPECTIVE. You will never improve faster than when you learn to see and think in 3 dimensions artistically. And KEEP DRAWING.
I shall be able to draw like this!!! Give me two, three years and I shall be able to draw like that/come up with cool concepts like that. These type hyper detailed pics are brilliant for concept art etc. but I remember I once saw a guy's character concept for a comic and like these it was massively hyper detailed, amazing, however I was like yeah dude, that's awesome but there is no fucking way you can reproduce that for hundreds/thousands of pages, it's just not plausible or efficient.
COULD YOU PLEASE MAKE A DVD! I REALLY WANT TO LEARN MORE BUT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO GO TO SINGAPORE! THUMBS UP WHOEVER WANTS A TRAINING DVD!!! I'M SURE I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO WOULD GLADLY BUY YOUR DVD! PLEASE CONSIDER THIS. -A HUGE FAN
@LMaruchan18 Concept art is literally nothing but using tired old art ideas in clever new ways, and that's really only the good stuff. You have creativity in there, you just have to figure out what's rattling around in there. Scribble and draw CONSTANTLY. Every time something comes to mind, write it down. Draw it. If it sucks, great. You still got it down. Now you can try and do better on your next attempt at the same thing you just imagined. That's all it takes. ^_^
i can draw, sketch and come with original ideas and can design my own characters, i just need help with working them up to a professional standard, i also have trouble with proportions and angles
i would kill to get in that school :S (just name who u want dead, ok? u get bonus- pairs of ears of my current art teachers, they r old, deaf and crazy anyways :D )
@jasperrumbelow nope it only need some getting used to(tho you wont be as good as first, after a week maybe a month it will probably become natural and you'll be at least close to what you are on paper and it can only get better afterward
@PrinceOF9Imagination Get a copy of "Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist" by Stephen Peck and go through the book, page by page, and fill a sketchbook with copies of every single pencil sketch in that book. There is basically no other way I know to learn character anatomy faster. While you're doing that, find the kind of character art that inspires you and you want to emulate, and start filling a second sketchbook with copies of those. Trust me. This helps ALOT.
@PrinceOF9Imagination Absolutely! I'm not very good at drawing either, I just know what has worked for me to help me dramatically improve what little I could do into something more. Another thing you can do that will help you develop your drawing skill is linear perspective, if skill is important to you. Learning to see and draw in perspective is the single biggest thing I've found to help the development of good drawing skills. Try it and see!
@Sdgkiller Get a copy of "Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist" by Stephen Peck and go through the book, page by page, and fill a sketchbook with copies of every single pencil sketch in that book. There is basically no other way I know to learn correct character anatomy faster. It makes all the difference in the world. Trust me.
hey im new to digital art ... when drawing how do you make everything so loose as if you where drawing on paper ??? any tips or hints would be very helpfull
@kazmanli Because Americans somehow get the impression that if you aren't immediately good at something, you will never be good at it. Asian nations don't espouse this view, and thus have immensely higher rates of creative and scientific talent coming out of them. You wanna get good at concept art? Draw til you never want to draw again, then keep drawing for 10 years past that point. You'll be as good as the best then, and for the same exact reason as them.
@koolaid5684 Then, you can't draw. Drawing is not just about the ability to draw a straight line or a curved line. You need to use these lines to create a recognizable and appealing form.
@koolaid5684 Practice practice practice practice practice! Read history and engineering texts for engineering. Google concept art and copy things you find that you like. The imagination is an incredibly powerful muscle, but in order to stay fit it CONSTANTLY has to be kept working out. Draw CONSTANTLY. Draw until you hate drawing. Then keep drawing. You'll get there alot faster than you think. ^_^
