  • Best sounding diesel I've EVER heard...awesome truck.

  • its not the tuning its there tubo set up

  • My grandmother could tell you that truck is a diesel by hearing it. Nucking Futs none the less.

  • not to mention they can make diesel out of some form of algae. so until the next clean fuel sorce is found i will stick with diesel thank you

  • Whats the fun in having a diesel that sounds like a gasser :(. I guess because its a V8, Should have gone inline 6 with it.

  • i agree. the Duramax Diesel engine found in the gmc sierra's have a stock redline of about 5000rpms. thats high for a diesel motor.

  • Are you INSANE!? That trucks badass. The D-Max V8 is a perfect choice for this truck. Banks has much experience engineering parts GM Diesel motors. The LOW gearing / HIGH torque combo on this thing make it sound UNLIIKE ANY gas motor!

Oh, and LOOK MA, NO SMOKE! Banks Power obviously has the tuning/fuel down something solid.

  • I doubt any gassers in the circuits that thing races have turbos. Besides, how cool is it to beat a gasser at his own race?

  • Non-steam engined vehicles are stupid, I don't care how fast or efficient they are.

  • really? you won't mind giving your petrol powered car away then will you.

  • Aparently the comment I was replying to has been removed. A previous poster said that he didn't care how fast this truck was, due to V8 configuration diesel engines being 'stupid'.

  • my bad. to be completely honest, i couldn't figure why you would say something like that.

  • No problem. I'm a little miffed that the other comment is gone now though, because it was a great example of foolishness.

  • I recently saw that MTV Pimp My Ride episode with the Duramax Impala conversion done by PPE and SAE (I believe). I've been interested in buying a DMax because I could potentially run biodiesel in the thing and make obscene amounts of horsepower and torque.

Then I saw the MTV PMR episode and am trying to figure out how to put a DMax in my 1994 Chevy Caprice Classic.

  • the problem with biodiesel is that it will gunk up your engine.

  • ahhhh the sweet smell of ignorance.... try researching something before you make a broad sweeping statment about it. Id launch into a correction of your statement, but there simply isnt enough space. In short, biodiesel when properly made, is fully reliable, with people clocking in excess of 150000 miles on the fuel. running B100, thats pure biodiesel.

  • that is only because it is a lubricant and a detergent.. and that it will clean all the old accumulated sludge from synthetic diesel, right out and make it foul.. if you run it and it does that, change the filter.. you will be fine.. it just cleans the old stuff out, that is why it fouls sometimes.. your motor is getting cleaner

  • I run straight vegetable oil. The engine doesn't get gunked up unless you bypass the fuel filter, and the gunk gets all cleaned out within a thousand miles.

  • I love this truck, Its insanely absurd. Will it be racing?

  • Soon. We should know more in the next few days. Keep an eye on the website for more details.

  • Well... our Dakota doesn't sound like an in-line 6. Then again it doesn't sound as mean as this one.

  • Of course it doesn't sound like a diesel, it's a V8 and most diesels are inline 6's...

  • gale is amazing, ask him about his baja truck

  • It just don't sound like a diesel, amazing, thanks for posting.
