Well, we don't have NO idea of the age of the earth. The reason people say that it's 4.6 billion years old is because the only evidence we have points to the earth being that old. So it's not definite, but it makes most sense to assume that the earth is 4.6 billion years old.
Yes, Young Earth Creationism is just ridiculous. Honestly, nothing Kent Hovind says is true. Pretty much nothing that man says is true lol, he's just full of lies.
I'm glad you're open-minded enough to speak the truth about many commonly held beliefs. Very impressive. =)
A lot of YEC stuff is goofy like all animals (including TRex lol) ate plants. It makes their entire case look silly. Hovind reads a lot into the text. There was a flood, but the extent YEC makes it is exaggerated beyond belief. And you're right...there is a lot of stuff we don't get in the bible. For example, wouldn't you like to see how Mary raised Jesus? That would be helpful to parents! Personally, I think God knows we can't even get the "Believe in Jesus part right" so he cut it short. ha
You are the category of christian that I do respect. You can see past the YEC bullshit, and you actually employ logic. I do disagree with some of your other videos, but this I do like.
That bit about the tail moving like a cedar? Your response is exactly how I thought about it when I watched his videos. It is funny how wrong Hovind gets it.
He gets it more wrong than that, since he's obsessed with one of the worst English translations available. The description isn't of the animal's tail at all. It's the animals genitalia. The word translated at 'tail' is actually 'penis' and the phrase isn't 'sinews of his thighs' but 'cords of his testicles'. That does sound like a VERY strange way to describe an animal, though.
The difference with yourself and your 'typical' creationist is that I feel I could have a conversation with you.Basically, you are a critical thinker - common sense and truth are the bottom line to you? You are wasted with that bunch!
But we DO have a good approximation of the age of the Earth. That one is not "an unknown". That's a "pretty reliable known". When scientists say the Earth is 4.5 billion years old, they don't mean EXACTLY 4.5 billion years. They could be out by a couple of hundred million. It's a ballpark figure, based on several different observations from different fields of science that (coincidentally?) happen to give the same rough figure.
I don't know if he will talk himself into atheism. But he will at least lead into a more rational view of other realities of this universe.
Perhaps one day he will believe in evolution since it is so backed by evidence. But even that doesn't mean he will give up a belief in God. As we know many christians believe in evolution so its possible.
We don't have an exact date on the earth, but we do know it's really old. Radiometric dating and Carbon dating do work, they've been tested on objects with a known age.
12 facts about you 1. Your reading my comment 2. Now your saying/thinking whats that stupid fact. 4. You didnt notice that i skipped 3. 5. Your checking it now. 6. Your smiling. 7. Your still reading my comment. 8. You know all you have read is true. 10. You didnt notice that i skipped 9. 11. Your checking it now. 12. You didnt notice there are only 10 facts
I noted earlier that this is a good vid so I thought I'd see what other words of wisdom you had to offer.
I just watched your video 'evolution questions' but because - it seems - you've disabled comments, I'll comment here.
Well done. You've made a video showing the world you have NO IDEA what you talking about. I was reminded of the peanut butter evolution guy or that banana guy. Come on man... you better than that
We know all sorts of facts about abiogenesis, and we have constructed theories on those facts and we have multiple possibilities about this abiogenesis.
why yes,i did say that but i thought id give it another shot since not all comments are stupid.some folks ive encountered are quite nice, even though we have different beliefs.
your so right stonedcommander, all true. like those idiots who took the 'eye for an eye' quote and turned their religion into a one of hate. the world needs your Earthforce idea stonedcommander. im catholic and we incorporate all aspects of the bible. I'm sorry to offend anyone but it seems to me the biggest perpertrators of this fad are the latter day saints. i mean come on?
One reason that there are many sects is because it's really impossible for people (who believe the bible is truth) to all interpret it the same way. This is one of the reasons I am not a fan of "organized religion." People join some church, and in a way they are told what they believe instead of searching for themselves. The only time people need to be told what to believe is if their beliefs are hateful in some way. Some things we just don't know and perhaps we should admit we don't know.
Thumbs up, man. I'd rate you five stars if ratings were enabled. :) Not that I've got anything against disabling ratings. Some people just wanna discuss, not partake in this relatively childish ratings business.
People who focus extensively on any part of a grander religion or faith are being willfully ignorant of the rest of what their host faith holds dear.
This is not to say that people who hold these denominational kinds of religions are bad people, but that they're somewhat misguided in their rationality.
People who search for answers shouldn't settle on something that has all the answers, but should be able to understand the potential of inquiry.

Noah's ark doesn't make any sense regardless of whether or not you put dinosaurs on it in your version of the story.

I don't think you actually paid enough attention to the vid. You implied that "Theory" isn't knowledge.
Problem is, in the scientific community, the term theory does not mean the same thing it does in our daily vernacular.
"how are you?"
Confused. Didn't you say you wouldn't allow comments anymore and would still make videos but they'd be few and far between?

I agree many doctrins are people counterfeiting and moving astray from the Bible.
I don't think the mayan civilizatin existed for tens of thousand of years even with and old Earth.
I don't agree with alot of stuff Kent Hovind says either.
I don't claim the stuff than many Creationists claim although I see myself as a Young Earth Creationist.
You want people that know even more than Kent hovind, look up Ian Juby, Carl Bough and most importantly Mike Riddle. later
